Sky Fox was over the scene as the suspect in a red car led the California Highway Patrol
on a chase. We really don't know much about this right now. They say officials did not say what
that suspect was initially wanted for. So really all we know is that officials are following this
red car that has been driving honestly rather erratically at times through the streets of
California. There was a moment not too long ago where I was driving on the wrong side of the road
and it's cutting off other cars. So not really sure why this red car is on the run. But if you're
just joining us, we actually saw a woman get out of this car. This car stopped on the side of the
road and a woman got out of the car and the car continues driving and sometimes at speeds about
50 miles an hour and other times a little bit slower. So once again, not really sure
why this car is on the run, but we do know this is a vehicle pursued there in Southern California.
Our Fox 11 affiliate there has their helicopter over this car. All right, there we go. We have
a police officer there following that vehicle and it does look like Fox 11 is back on the air with
their coverage of this chase. So let's dip into that and listen into their commentary.
All right. It looks like we don't have Fox 11's audio there, but they are on the air with this
as well. But let's keep watching there as this car looks like it's on the, okay, it's on South
Avenue 64. Oh, wow. Okay. These streets are ever changing as this car picks up its pace there.
We did see just moments ago, there was a police cruiser that started following this vehicle and
we've been watching this chase probably for the last 20 minutes or so. And I hadn't seen any
police officers start following this vehicle until just moments ago. So it looks like this
story is developing, this chase is developing a little bit. We're seeing this car there on Arroyo
Drive in Omaha streets there in the Highland Park area. This is a vehicle pursuit there in
Southern California. If you're just joining us, this car traveling about 65 miles an hour there,
our affiliates at Fox 11 following this in their helicopter there. As I mentioned,
Fox 11 saying on their website there, all they know is that officials are following
this suspect in a red car that led the California Highway Patrol on this chase.
No word yet on a motive, but we're continuing to watch this story evolve there. As I mentioned,
we saw a woman get out of this car. This car literally stopped on the side of the road. A
woman got out of the car and ran. So my question is, where is this woman? I'm curious where she
might be. But looks like right now, Fox 11's camera is pretty zoomed in on this vehicle there.
So we can't see if that police cruiser is still following this vehicle. But we did just see a
moments ago starting to follow this red car that has been leading police on a chase.
We brought this to you on the air just about 23 minutes ago or so, I want to say. So this
chase has been going on for a little bit there. Right now they're in the Mount Washington area.
We know that this is a pursuit happening in Southern California. So curious to see
what happens here as we continue keeping an eye on it. Looks like this car right now is at least
driving in the proper direction. Moments ago, we did see the car driving on the wrong side of the
road and cutting off traffic, driving rather erratically at times. But right now it does
look like it's slowing down a little bit in speed. Curious to see if it exit there.
Looks like it's headed towards exit 27 there in the Mount Washington area there in
Southern California. Curious where the police cruiser went that was just following it moments
ago. As this car does look like it slowed down in speed a little bit there. You got to think the
time is about 5.30 there on the West Coast. So you'd think there'd be maybe a little bit more
traffic during rush hour. But it looks like the roads are relatively clear for this vehicle. And
it looks like it's driving much slower than the speed of traffic right now.
So the pace doesn't seem to be too frantic anymore. All right. So this car is driving
on the freeway now. And like I mentioned, you would think it would be going a little bit faster,
but it's going about 30 miles an hour right now on the freeway. Looks like we lost it in the
bushes there, but you can still kind of see the vehicle there. Fox 11's helicopter doing a great
job following this vehicle as this chase continues. Now it looks like it's going about 12. All right.
Now speeding up a little bit, but a rather slow pace there for the freeway. All right. Looks like
we're headed toward Arroyo Seco Avenue there in Cypress Park. Still staying on the freeway headed
towards exit 26B there. Like I mentioned, Fox 11 on their website saying they don't know
why officials are chasing this suspect, what the suspect was initially wanted for,
but looks like they're continuing to follow this. All right. And I do have my colleague,
Andy Mack there hopping on our second microphone to talk about this vehicle chase with me.
It looks like this car, Andy, is right now stopped underneath the bridge there.
Looks like we're near exit 26A there. Yeah. You've been doing a great job covering this
all throughout it. And obviously we're looking at it. We did have one person exit the vehicle
earlier. It doesn't appear that the police are pursuing them too closely. So it's interesting
if we don't know exactly who owns this vehicle, if this is their vehicle, if it's something that
potentially grand theft related. We've seen that in the past recently as well. So they're
going to stay over this. We do know police potentially are also viewing it. And so they
have their eyes on this one as well. Maybe they have a black and white in the area to check on
what's going on, but wouldn't be unusual to say the least for someone to get out of this vehicle.
There's an overpass right there, but it's caged in. So they probably won't be able to get in there.
People just coming and going here about 5.30 local time in Los Angeles. Yeah. And it appears
they're running on that bridge above where this car stopped. I mean, you got to wonder,
is that the person who left the car who is running on that bridge right now? You see Fox 11 helicopter
following this person. I would, I would hate for that to me be on a run here just through the
neighborhood and be in the wrong place at the wrong time of coincidence, but it very well,
could we, they're, they're following them very closely right now, making its way over this
overpass on the one 10 North bound. So, uh, at least the helicopter believes this potentially
could be the suspect involved. Certainly. And we saw that police cruiser. They're following that
red vehicle moments ago, uh, as it was driving and we lost sight of that cruiser. But I mean,
now Fox 11, their, their cameraman is following this person. Like you said,
I'd hate to be that person if I was just on a run and the car potentially ran out of gas.
I don't know how much gas this guy has left to kind of make the win because he's been running
for a little bit, but as we have the sky Fox and where is he at? Cause you can see some of
the barbed wire around there. If that's a junkyard and auto site, he has his hands up. So we'll see
if he has any connection, if he's going to be picked up by another individual. Again, we don't
know if this is the guy in the car, but they are zooming in on him. So we can only assume you can
see they're coming around right now. And I think it's important to mention again, this person
dropped off another person earlier in this chase, potentially this person I might add,
they dropped off another person. So where is that person right now? And where is this,
this person headed? Where is this individual going? He's running across the street. He's got
keys around his neck. Um, I don't know if he knew the other individual there, but we also want to
know if your discretion is advised, cause these could go haywire in a moment's notice. So this
guy does not to be appears to be in a good space. So, uh, going around this warehouse on,
doesn't look like a residential commercial kind of area. You can see potentially across from a
school or a gym or something with an outside, uh, kind of area. He's walking down the road. So,
um, don't know exactly what's going on right now. Yeah. After running for, I don't know,
the better part of half a mile maybe or so. So 33rd Avenue, Avenue 33 northbound one 10 getting
off. So I don't know why he bailed what he's looking for, where he's going. We talk about it.
Fox 11 noted that sometimes these individuals generally go in areas they are familiar. So they
don't get caught in a corner. They don't get go down a dead end. They are familiar with the
cross streets, the locations of highways, any buildings or such. Uh, so this potentially is
an area this individual knows and is familiar with is potentially familiar with people that
live there. They themselves live there. So that is also a component. Yeah. Yeah. You know,
you got to wonder too, you mentioned earlier, maybe he ran out of gas because he, he abandoned
his car. And I mean, you would think that the safer, quicker bet would just be sticking with
the car, but it looks like right now he stopped running. He's just slowed down to a walking pace
there. Um, yeah, hopefully we have Fox 11 jumping back on here soon because they would be able to
provide a good context where we are exactly in Lincoln Heights, making his way there. 540 now
right around rush hour. We didn't see a ton right now, but again, no real understanding of why this
all started the Genesis of this, uh, incident. We do know that they are tracking him hands on his
head, clearly gassed, uh, alluding police, the car going by. And you've got to imagine if this
guy's walking by and he hears a car going down this road, he might have to look over his shoulder,
being aware of his surroundings, the circumstances, because he knows. And we have hands up right
there. See, he's got his hands up. It looks like in a surrender position almost, but I don't see
any police officers around. Maybe he's looking towards the helicopter. I don't know. He's given
up right now in this area. Uh, they're asking to become caught. This is something you don't
see every day. Oh, there's the police right now. There they are. Okay. At the side of the road.
Yep. All right. So it looks like he's getting down there on the ground. A little bit of a
blockade. They set up at this cross street and they could just see it coming. So clearly
police, California highway law enforcement in Southern California saw this guy exit the vehicle,
saw him go down this cross street and just sat there waiting for him to fall into their trap.
And he did just that. So now they're going to put him in cuffs. They usually do this
very violently just to make sure that they don't have anything go wrong, go haywire in that moment.
So, um, this is obviously something going on. Yeah. It looks like he's just laying there on
his stomach. They're waiting for officers to approach him. We don't see any officers
entering the shot yet there, but it looks like this chase finally coming to an end there on
West Avenue 33 and Pasadena Avenue there in the Lincoln Heights area of Southern California.
Uh, like I said, we started bringing this to viewers around five, what, five, 10 or so. So
this went on for about, uh, 30 minutes or so. Wow. Look at the officers approaching him there.
You got one, two, three, you got about six offers that officers they're approaching him,
putting him in handcuffs. There are some had their guns drawn. So
looks like, uh, they're finally apprehending him. Yeah. They're making sure that doesn't
have any weapons, any paraphernalia on him. And they do this in a way that makes sure the officers
are safe in the moment in case this individual rolls over clearly he's given up, but you just
never know in that moment because he led them on this wild goose chase on highways, on residential
roads, high rates of speed on the other side of the road, weaving out of a stop signs, not
obeying the rules of the road. Again, don't know exactly what led to this, but we do know how, uh,
the, we don't know the start, but we do know the conclusion for sure.
Certainly. And you got to wonder, you know, the other person who got away, who was dropped off,
you know, from a vehicle wonder if they're in handcuffs as well right now, or if officers
are searching for that person, maybe they'll get some information from this individual on
who they were, what was going on there because they are probably going to be looking for that
individual to see what's going on. All right. Awesome. My colleague, Andy Mac, they're hopping
on the mic with me to talk about this. Please chase there that we've been following in the
Southern California area there. We did see that suspect was apprehended. It's time for us here
on live now from Fox to step away for a quick two minute commercial break. We'll be right back.
