Captivated by the dreamy beauty of the "fairy tale" village of Giethoorn, Netherlands

It's about 120 kilometers northeast from central Amsterdam to get to Giethoorn. The drive takes around an hour and a half. Since it's spring, the scenery along the Dutch highways is absolutely stunning. Hey guys! Green fields, trees and wildflowers lining both sides of the road and the median. This season, the yellow rapeseed flowers along the Dutch highways look incredible. The weather is beautiful, cool, but nice and warm in the sun. The blue sky is just so refreshing. Check out these tulip fields. Purple, red, pink, so pretty, and there are windmills in the distance. And here are the village paths. The tree-lined banks and yellow wildflowers. Just gorgeous. We saw so many beautiful tulip fields on the way here. I have to stop and take it all in, guys. Here is one of the tulip fields. Or rather, a tulip farm. They're planted right by the road, so vibrant. Look at that deep red. It's like a ribbon stretching out forever, everyone. It looks absolutely amazing. And it's not just this field either. There are so many more in the distance. So many colors, red, purple, yellow, pink, they've got everything. It's wonderful, truly why the Netherlands is famous. Finally made it to the tulip land. So, I've just arrived in Geethoorn. Time to head in and explore. Standing on a bridge here, it crosses right over the canal. Look, seeing the boats pass underneath is just beautiful. It's such a stunning sight, guys. Right, time for a boat trip. Stefan here is a local of Geethoorn. He'll be taking us on a boat tour through all the canals around the village. Everything is gorgeous, the tulips and these houses. Check out these electric boats, perfect for a private tour. Look at those thatched roofs, they must be about four layers thick. I've learned that Geethoorn is a tiny village with a really long history. With its winding canals and hundreds of wooden bridges, they call it the Venice of the North. But the biggest difference from Venice, Italy, is that this village has no roads. In that garden, there are two girls reading and hanging out. Wow, those two girls tanning look so relaxing, right? These are the traditional thatched roofs, and they've kept them exactly like this. I wonder if these steep roofs hold up okay when it gets cold and snowy in winter. But he thinks every few years, maybe every decade, they have to replace the thatch. It probably can't last forever, can it? So, why is it actually called Geethoorn? Well, Stefan, our local guide, says the village was established back in the 13th century. And when the farmers were out in the fields, they stumbled upon tons of goat horns buried underground. They believe these horns are leftovers from a flood back in 1170. That's how the village got its name. The name Horn, meaning a place where goat horns were found, which was later shortened to Geethoorn. Geethoorn literally translates to the place of goat horns. And that's how it earned the name Geethoorn. Now, Geethoorn is a tourist village, attracting tons of visitors, especially after a movie called Fanfare was filmed here. Back in 1958, this village started gaining much more fame and popularity, because the scenery here is so stunning and so poetic that many people got curious, visited the Netherlands, and came to this village, bringing in more tourists. And now it's super famous. Travelers from everywhere come here to visit, including many Asian and Vietnamese tourists looking it up when traveling through the Netherlands. And today, getting the chance to cruise around the village, I can see why. This village is absolutely incredible, so dreamy, I love it. No cars, no traffic of any kind. Basically, you won't hear any loud modern vehicle noise here, just people walking around or cruising on the canals. You can hear birds chirping in the trees, everyone. Wow, this is stunning. It's getting pretty crowded with tourists now. Look at those flowers. So many families out and about. The flowers there are so beautiful. This tree is covered in blossoms. It's a cherry blossom tree. Wow, the blossoms are incredible. There are just a few people here, but everyone is. A cafe where people can rest, grab coffee, eat, or nap. And over here is Vernice, a restaurant and souvenir shop. That flowering tree is just gorgeous. This right here is the heart of Geethoorn. Right in front of us is the church, everyone. The church. Wow, the red leaves on this tree are so beautiful. This spot is so pretty, this house has such lovely flower beds. Oh, it's truly beautiful. So peaceful with all these spring flowers. The sun is out, it's so clear and absolutely stunning. There's a house here with tulips planted all around the front garden. So gorgeous. Look, the tulip petals are falling into the canal. Wow, absolutely stunning. I'm loving it, guys. So peaceful and poetic. Just gorgeous. Earlier we were on a boat, now we're walking along the paths, everyone. So calm and serene. I have to say, I really love it here. You can hear the birds chirping in the trees. It's springtime. The temperature is around 13 to 14 degrees. Still feels pretty cool. But the sun makes it feel so warm. Geethoorn is truly peaceful and quiet, definitely worth a visit. I really, really love this village. Once you get away from the crowds and walk along the canal paths, it's so tranquil. Just listening to the birds chirping. The countryside vibe is so restful and peaceful. I love it. The air is so fresh and the grass is so green. It's wonderful.
