Is it really worth it?
Is it good quality?
We don't know, so, because we've never ordered.
So that's what we're gonna be doing today.
I literally only ordered an eight by eight.
But I still have all of this area over here.
And y'all, this has to get a second press.
It doesn't say to do a second press,
but I'm doing a second press.
We're gonna see what someone who knows
what none of these are, we're gonna see what they say.
So, and when I say she's an expert, she's an expert.
Oh my goodness, guys.
Welcome back to the Makers Gonna Learn YouTube channel.
And today, we're gonna have a conversation all around DTF.
And honestly, Cricut and DTF together.
If you're new here, my name is Lauren,
and I'm a craft producer here at Makers Gonna Learn,
where we strive to bring you inspiration,
education, and motivation to get crafty.
Now, in today's video, we're gonna start the journey.
We're gonna go on a journey of testing out
the actual Cricut DTF.
Now, let's go ahead, let's back it up.
Let's back up way back.
Let's start out by explaining what DTF is,
if you don't know.
DTF stands for direct to film.
And what this is, is these are transfers
where you do all of the designing,
you send it to someone who has a special DTF printer,
and what happens is it prints on film.
So it prints your color first,
and then it has a back layer of white ink.
And then it covers it with like this plastic top coating,
and it cures it.
And then what the print provider does,
is they send your full color design
that you can press on any color T-shirt,
black, white, colors, whatever,
and you press it at home.
So that is in a nutshell, what DTF is.
Now, if you've been around this channel for some time,
the last month or so,
you have heard us talking about,
Cricut is now offering DTF transfers
where you can really design inside Cricut Design Space,
and then you can order those DTF transfers through Cricut.
But is it really worth it?
Is it good quality?
We don't know, because we've never ordered.
So that's what we're gonna be doing today.
We're gonna start the process.
We're going to go through this together.
I'm going to design something inside of Design Space.
We're going to send it to a printer.
But not only that,
I think I'm going to take the same design,
and I'm going to send it
to a couple other different print providers,
so that we can get a full spectrum
of how we like the Cricut version
versus the other versions we get.
We're going to look at pricing,
we're going to look at turnaround time,
ship time, all of that.
So if you are ready to start this journey,
we're going to start today.
We're going to have to order all of these today,
and then we're going to see how long it takes,
and I will do some check-ins with you guys.
Throughout this video, we'll come back,
I'll come back, tell you how long it's taken,
we'll press them,
and then we'll finally do a comparison at the end.
So if you are ready to start this journey,
and you want to see truly what it looks like,
make sure you stick around to the end.
But with that being said,
let's go ahead and head over here
into the craft room to my computer,
where we are going to start the designing process,
and we are going to start designing
our DTF prints to order from Cricut.
Now that we are here in design space,
let me show you exactly what I'm talking about.
So right here where it says DTF transfer,
that is where you are going to find the area
that you can start designing and do a quick order from.
So we're going to click on DTF transfer here,
and you can see that it gives you options.
It says you can do baby's bodysuit,
bodysuit, youth T-shirt, women's T-shirt, men's,
but you can also get the size over here,
depending on how large you want it.
So although it does give you the options
to do these different style shirts,
I would still measure the shirt that I want to put this on
and get an idea of how large of a design that I want.
Normally, I'm going to go anywhere between a 10 1⁄2
to an 11 inch design, but you can choose which one.
We'll just go with a 10 1⁄2 today,
but we're going to select that,
and then we're going to click start designing.
Now, here is what it pops up
as soon as you click start designing.
It's going to tell you exactly what DTF or directive film is.
It gives you a description.
It tells you how to prepare, assemble,
and all of this stuff,
but we'll go through all of this
once we actually get our design in.
I'm just going to click X on this right now,
and here is the canvas that it gives you.
Now, this is a 10 1⁄2 by 10 1⁄2 inch canvas,
and this is where you're going to start designing.
So just like you would in Design Space any other time,
you are going to upload your design from the left-hand side.
I'm actually going to be using this little hand today,
right here.
We are going to do a little bit of manipulation on this,
and I do love that I can design in the software
that I'm comfortable with
instead of having to try to design something
in something you may not be comfortable with.
So if you are new to DTF
and you are familiar with Cricut,
this may be a really, really good option for you.
So I'm just going to do a little bit of manipulation.
I'm going to select this because I want two little chicks
and I want them facing opposite directions.
So what I'm going to do,
actually, you can preview the project here.
One thing that I will say,
you can also change your T-shirt color if you want to
to check and see what this design looks like
on other T-shirts.
You can zoom in, zoom out, all of that.
But what I'm going to do is I'm going to click this button
here so that I can pull up my layers panel,
and I'm going to first come over here to contour.
I am going to, actually, before we do that,
I'm going to duplicate this design.
I'm going to contour out the hen first and apply.
So I have a little chick here
and then I'm going to click my original design again
and I'm going to come over here and contour
and I'm going to contour out the chick.
That way we have both of these designs separate.
And now I can nestle this little chick up there.
Kind of want to straighten him up just a little bit.
Maybe if I can get the rotation.
So I could not get my rotation button to pull up,
but I just went to the edit section
and you can rotate from there.
I didn't want to rotate it a lot.
I just wanted to rotate it a little bit.
Then I'm going to zoom out and see what that looks like.
I think that's pretty close.
And then I'm just going to duplicate this guy
and then flip it the opposite way.
Now I do like to come back over here and look at my preview.
Obviously this is a fairly large design
and I do think I'm going to scale it down just a little bit,
meaning I could probably do an actual like smaller DTF print.
So I've now realized that I can do this a lot smaller
than this 10 and a half by 10 and a half
and save some money.
The largest that I can, I mean,
seven and a half is going to be the smallest
I can make my canvas because this is the size that I want it.
So I'm actually going to have to go back to the home button.
I'm going to go to DTF transfer again.
Now I am going to change from a men's shirt
to a women's shirt because with the men's section,
the smallest you can do is nine and a half
by nine and a half.
And I don't really like that.
I really wish that I could choose from all of the sizes
possible over here, but I understand.
So we're just going to go over to women's shirts
and the smallest I can do in women's is eight by eight,
which is still, let's go back to the men's.
The men's was 3.16 for a nine by nine and 2.24.
So almost a dollar cheaper.
Let's see if we can do a seven and a half
by seven and a half in the kids.
So it either goes from seven by seven to eight by eight.
So we'll just go with our eight by eight here.
And then we're going to click start designing.
Now it does prompt you replace current project.
So I am just going to go ahead and replace that.
Unfortunately, it does take my t-shirt away.
It's going to pull up this DTF thing again,
or it takes my design away,
but thankfully I just have it right here in my upload.
So I can just upload this quickly
and then I can duplicate
and kind of do the same thing that I was doing.
So I'm going to make sure my layers panel is in here.
I'm going to contour out one
and then choose the other one and contour out the opposite.
And then just make my design fit right here.
Again, we're going to rotate this one,
bring it to the front,
duplicate and flip and line it up over here like this.
Now I can select them all,
make it a little bit bigger.
And then I can come over here to preview
and make sure it is what we want.
Move these in just a little bit.
Maybe make it just a little bit smaller.
Beautiful.
Here's what it looks like on the shirt.
Love.
So this full design is going to be 6.85 by 7.14.
After you have your design set,
what you are going to do from there
is you are going to go to add to cart.
Now it is going to prompt you and ask you,
you will have to confirm your rights to upload images.
If you are a Maker's Gonna Learn member
or an MGL Plus member,
you do have commercial use licensing to use any art.
And the chickens that I used today
are part of our new cut file release
that we have one of the most recent ones.
And I think it's super, super cute.
But you do have commercial use license
and you do have rights to upload the image.
So we're just going to go to continue.
Here is going to also ask you to save your project.
So I can do DTF transfer and we'll just click save.
And then it is going to redirect you to Cricut's website.
So their shipping is free and we are Cricut Access.
I will say we are Cricut Access users
or we are subscribed to Cricut Access.
So I don't know if it's giving us this discount
because we are Cricut Access users,
but let me just go ahead and sign in
and see if it gives us any more of a discount.
So that's just the price.
The discount for being a Cricut Access user is 22 cents.
So it comes to a total of 222 with free shipping.
Honestly guys, that is not bad at all
because most DTF places, and we'll go ahead
and we'll look around and we'll shop
some other ones here in a minute.
But most DTF places are going to do a flat rate shipping.
So even though their actual transfers may be cheaper,
their shipping may be more expensive.
So we're just going to go ahead and order it.
Now I do wish that there was a place for me to make sure
that my design was like super upscaled, but there's not.
So we're just going to go with it.
We're going to go check out.
Okay, we have placed our order for our Cricut DTF.
It was in total $22.22.
We did get a 22 cent discount,
which pretty much just covered the taxes
in two cents off of our total.
Here is what it looks like.
You can see it says that the earliest
we're going to get it is the 31st.
So I will keep you updated.
But now let's talk about some other places
that we can get our DTF transfers.
Now, before we move forward,
now this was an eight by eight DTF transfer.
We're going to look at processing of eight by eight
from other places, and we're going to order
from both Vinyl and Tool Supply and 143 Vinyl.
And we're going to do a comparison
between those two and Cricut.
So we're going to start in Canva.
We did an eight by eight design before.
So I'm going to come over here to create.
We're going to do a custom size.
I'm going to do inches.
We're going to do eight by eight and create new design.
Then I'm just going to bring my Finder back in.
This pen that I was working with, I am going to,
now this is a little bit different.
We're going to have to design this a lot different
than we did in Design Space.
I don't much care for how we have to design this in Canva.
We're just going to duplicate this.
We're going to make it larger so that I can get my hand here.
There's not a good like contour feature for Canva.
It's actually pretty, pretty wild.
But what I'm going to do, I'm going to grab a square.
We're going to make it white.
I don't want it to be text.
Let's do a rectangle.
We're going to make it white.
What I'm going to do is I'm just going to cover this guy here
as best as I can, just like this.
Now I know this is, let's move this to the front.
This is kind of wild the way that we have to do this.
I'm going to make this larger, move that around,
and then I can kind of adjust here.
Actually, what I'm going to do is
I'm going to come over here to Edit.
This one, I'm going to do Magic Eraser.
And we're just going to erase this whole thing, actually.
Let's do it this way instead of having to cover it up.
Let's just, or even better idea, watch this.
Let's delete this.
Let's delete this guy.
Let's delete all these guys out and let's just do this.
We're going to go to Edit.
We're going to go to Magic Grab
and we're just going to grab one of these elements.
We're going to grab the little guy here.
We're going to grab that.
And hopefully it's just going to separate it out.
Okay, that was so much easier.
I was complicating everything.
So I'm just going to size this up.
I think the other one I did at a five degree angle,
about like this.
Then we're going to duplicate this guy.
We're going to flip it this way.
I need to straighten him up here.
Place that there.
Move this a little bit over.
Pretty similar.
They may be just a little bit different.
Let's maybe move this one out like this.
Beautiful.
And then now one last thing,
I am going to resize this up just a little bit
and maybe make, let's actually make this
so that we can get a better, a more accurate sizing.
So when we select all of these,
we can look at this sizing as,
so I think the other one was closer to like seven,
seven and a half.
So I think this is a good one.
Now what we have to do is we're going to come up here
to Share.
We're going to download this as a PNG.
If you have Canva Pro,
you're sliding that size all the way up
in a transparent background.
And then we're going to download.
Okay.
Now, after we've done that,
we're ready to look at the other places
that offer DTF prints.
And we're going to upload those and order those as well.
So we're going to start with 143 Vinyl.
Here is the 143 Vinyl website,
where you're going to go.
Right here at the top, DTF.
You're going to want to do direct to film transfers
like this.
And then after we've clicked direct to film transfers,
we're going to come down here to the custom DTF transfers
and click get started.
Now, immediately looking at 24 cents for a DTF transfer,
I'm like, oh my gosh, that sounds amazing.
Starting price, 24 cents.
Wow.
But you have a flat rate shipping of 995
with 143 Vinyl.
So that right there immediately tells me
that even if it's only 24 cents,
I'm going to be paying over $10 to get me one DTF transfer.
So first thing out the gate,
if you're going to be ordering DTF transfers from 143,
I highly suggest ordering in bulk.
That way you can get free shipping.
So if you are wanting to do one-off,
maybe Cricut is better for one-off things,
but it's going to be cheaper if you do it in bulk.
So at first it was hard for me to understand
how to upload my image,
but all you have to do is click right there
where it says Image Upload,
and then you pull in your design and click Upload.
So here is what it looks like.
This says it's sending image to server.
Be patient, this process can take up to 15 minutes.
Well, that is, okay.
Okay, so it didn't take near as long as I thought,
but I want it on an eight by eight.
So an eight by eight, which is what we chose,
is 97 cents, great price.
But once again, it is, we have a non-95 flat rate shipping,
but we're just going to go for it.
So we want to check the image.
I always want to do that and make sure,
looks great, lovely.
And then we're going to go to Add to Cart.
So this one has been added,
and we are now going to check out
and order this one as well.
So the total cost for this is 10.87.
Now we do have a little discount code with 143.
It's just MGL.
It saved us 5 cents, completely up to you,
but we're going to go for it.
So 10.87 for this one.
The other one was $2.22.
Once again, we'll see a comparison.
So we're going to submit the order for 143,
and we're going to keep on a trucking.
That is done.
Now it did say the turnaround time for this one was 24 hours.
So we will see when this one comes in.
It says two to five business days.
We will keep you updated.
Now, the last place that we're going to order from
is also one of our favorite places to order from.
It's Vinyl Tool Supply.
We love this brand.
We love Sarah, the owner.
So what we're going to do to order from them,
you're going to come over here to where it says Menu,
and this is where it says DTF Transfers.
So you want to do Custom DTF Transfers,
and we are going to go to right here,
Custom DTF Prints.
This is saying from $2.50.
So we'll see.
It says one day turnaround time.
We're going to do an eight by eight.
So their price is $3.75.
So currently this is the most expensive place.
I don't know about shipping,
but it looks like we can drag and drop our files.
So let's just not click that,
but I wonder if I can drag and drop.
Let's just bring our Finder back in.
Can I drag and drop this?
Oh, I can.
That's awesome.
I don't know what's going on right here.
Let's cancel this.
Let's try this one more time.
Let's click it and browse.
And it's still doing that,
and I'm not really sure why
because it did not do it on the other one.
So let's try maybe going back and re-downloading this.
Let's maybe look at our layers even.
So it does have this layer right here,
has this little white chick and I don't know why.
Can we go to edit this one?
Maybe we have to do magic eraser.
Let's try erasing this guy.
I don't know why it didn't show up on the other one.
I really hope that it doesn't.
I didn't see it on the other one.
Okay, so we've done that.
Now let's try going up here and downloading again.
We're just going to pop that up,
transparent background and download as a PNG.
Interesting that it did this for vinyl tool supply,
but not for 143.
Anyway, I guess we'll find out later
if it has a little extra white chick there.
We're going to click allow.
There it is.
No extra thing.
We're going to come back over here.
Let's do another drag and drop.
We're going to go here, drop that.
Loading the image.
No longer has that white.
Beautifully, we're going to click upload.
And then from here, eight by eight, 375,
we're going to click add to cart.
And then we're going to come over here to checkout.
Now after shipping, this one is going to be 13.74.
Let's add a discount code.
See if we can, what kind of discount?
So we get 37 cents by using code MGL there.
We're just going to click ship.
So 13.37 and we have ordered.
So now it's time to wait.
Okay.
So our cost breakdown so far has been,
Cricut is $2.22.
They did offer free shipping,
which was, you know, obviously brought the cost down a lot.
If we're talking about cost of the actual print
with or without shipping,
Cricut fell right in the middle.
They were not the most expensive,
but they were not the cheapest either.
So that's, we'll see.
The next one that we ordered was from 143 Vinyl.
They, the total cost on that one was $10.87.
Remember, we did get a slot discount on all of our products
and you can use code MGL at 143 and Vinyl Tool Supply
to get a little bit of a discount, just FYI.
Now with 143, they were the cheapest transfer
at like 95 cents,
but they did have a flat rate shipping of 9.95.
So that's why it ended up being 10.87.
And then the last place that we ordered from
was Vinyl Tool Supply
and they had the most expensive transfer at $3.
Hold on, let me double check without shipping.
It was $3.75 for an eight by eight.
And then we got a 37 cent discount for our code
and shipping was 9.99,
bringing the total to $13.37.
So that is the cost breakdown.
You can see it right there of what we paid.
And then we will do a full comparison
and let you know exactly how Cricut stands up
to the other places, what we like, what we don't like,
how to actually press these onto your shirt
and everything that you need to know.
Now, once again, I'm gonna keep you updated
as these start coming in.
I will be filming and pressing
and then we will do a full comparison.
So make sure you don't go anywhere.
Now, this will be a few days for me,
a few seconds for you.
Stay right where you're at.
I'll be right back.
Okay, y'all, it's been a couple days.
It is currently Wednesday, April 1st,
but we got the 143 transfer
and the Cricut transfer on Tuesday, March the 31st.
We're still waiting on the vinyl tool supply,
but we do have these.
So let's just go ahead and get them open
because I've not opened these.
You can see this one came a little bit damaged.
Not anybody's fault.
Let me run, grab a true control knife
and we're gonna get these opened
so that we can do a full comparison.
So I think it's only fair that we start with a Cricut one.
I mean, the Cricut DTF is what brought this whole thing on.
So let's go ahead and start with a Cricut one.
This just comes in a small container.
Remember, I only ordered one.
So we're gonna see what it looks like.
Okay, interesting.
They have it bagged up like this.
If we look at the quality,
the quality looks really good.
Remember we did an eight by eight.
It does come with a full page how to,
how to apply Cricut DTF transfers.
It does it with an easy press and an auto press.
Obviously we're not using either of those.
We're gonna use our regular heat press.
And then it also comes with,
oh, it comes with some parchment paper, I guess.
Anyway, that's interesting.
So that is all of Cricut.
Let me get this out of the bag
so that we can kind of see it up close
and then we'll get the 143 out.
This looks really good.
It's really nice quality, really thick.
Interesting that this yellow is on the back.
Here is an up close of the quality.
Cutie.
Holly, you like my little chicks I made?
So cute.
And now here is our 143 one.
Let me get my tree control knife.
Fun fact, I actually made this for,
I got a couple of these.
There's a couple people in mind that I made this for,
Holly being one of them.
Her mama hen with her two chicks.
Then our next one is our 143.
Nothing else in the box except for this.
Remember I ordered an eight by eight,
but this comes like,
I literally only ordered an eight by eight.
But I still have all of this area over here.
Aha!
It did.
If you remember, this ended up showing up on this one.
So now I'm like, oh my God.
We might can cut it off.
Anyway, I fixed this one for the,
I fixed that little area.
Remember I had to do it in Canva
and then I had to fix this.
Anyway, this didn't show up on the proof,
I will say, that I saw for 143.
I was not seeing this portion
and I did see it on the vinyl and tool supply box software.
So I guess you just have to be careful with that.
I'm gonna try to fix it.
This one, I will say,
I was trying to see if like this up here was instructions,
but it is not.
No instructions.
Maybe they're online.
So what I'm gonna do now,
I'm actually gonna cut this and hope that this works.
Definitely was not a 143 issue.
This was a Lauren McCoy issue.
So I'm not putting this on them.
I'm just seeing if I can fix it.
Okay.
So I was able to cut that off.
There's still a little piece underneath the leg.
I'm gonna take the true control knife and get that off,
but I think I'm gonna do it from the back.
And I'm literally cutting the back like the DTF portion.
Okay.
So I was kind of able to fix it.
Beauty, love.
So now I just wanted to do a quick check in with you guys
so that you all could see these.
I'm going to wait and I'm going to press all of these
once I get the one from vinyl tool supply.
We're gonna press them all on the same day.
Fingers crossed, it will come in.
Maybe this afternoon or tomorrow,
but we will keep you updated.
We do have, like I said, we have the Cricut.
We have 143.
We'll be back when we get the vinyl tool supply.
Okay, friends, we're back.
And we finally got the one from vinyl and tool supply in.
Now I do have a little bit of a confession.
It has been 20 days since I filmed.
It is currently April 21st.
We had a lot of things going on here at the office,
but this did come in on April the 2nd.
So the Cricut one came in on March the 31st.
The 143 came in on April 1st
and the vinyl and tool supply came in on April 2nd.
So they came in very consistently.
So the ship times were around the same.
Obviously Cricut got here faster,
but I want to take a look
at the quality of the one from vinyl tool supply.
First of all, you do get little goodies
from vinyl tool supply anytime you order.
So a slap bracelet to put around your vinyl or HTV
and a little squishy.
Shout out, listen, vinyl tool supply.
My son absolutely adores these.
Every time we order them, they go straight in my purse.
I have so many spots on my ceilings
from these actually being stuck on my ceilings.
Little fun fact, but let's look at the quality.
She sent me two.
I'm pretty sure I only ordered one, but she sent me two.
So sweet, I love that.
Also, let's do an up close of the quality.
The quality is really good on both sides, love that.
And when we compare them,
oh, interesting.
So either I got the sizing wrong,
but the sizing on, actually they're all off.
That is very, very interesting.
So I thought that I made the sizing the same
for all of them.
Here is the one from 143, first of all,
and this is the one from Cricut.
When I place them back to back,
you can see the one in the Cricut back here
is actually a little bit bigger,
but then when I place the one from Cricut
in front of the one from Vinyl Tool Supply,
it's even bigger.
So this one is the biggest one,
but I thought they were all the same.
Anyway, they all have different instructions.
So we are going to read the instructions
and we are going to press them all
based on their instructions.
So we're gonna start with Cricut.
This one, Cricut says how to apply.
It only gives it to you with an easy press
and an auto press.
We're just gonna use the auto press settings.
Okay, I'm gonna say this.
Number one, Cricut gives you this big infographic,
which is nice, but nowhere on here
does it give you a temperature or a time.
It just says, visit Cricut.com slash heat guide
for precise time and temperature settings.
Why can't you just print it on here, Cricut?
You should be able to just print it on here.
So now that's an extra step that I have to take.
I'm gonna go find my phone
and we're gonna go to Cricut.com heat guide and find that.
Heat transfer material, let's do Cricut DTF transfers,
a base material, a T-shirt.
350 degrees for 30 seconds.
So we're gonna turn our press on.
Okay, so we've got it heating up 350 degrees for 30 seconds.
Let's look at our other ones.
So for vinyl tool supply,
it says 285 for 20 seconds.
So we're gonna have to come off the heat
for vinyl tool supply.
And I'm going to look at 143 vinyl as well.
DTF transfers.
So DT, so with 143, it is 310 for 10 seconds.
So we have lots of varying times.
Cricut's was 350 for 30.
Vinyl tool supply is 285 for 20.
And 143 is 310 for 10.
A little bit confusing, but we're gonna get there.
So we are going to start with Cricut
and we will put Cricut on this pretty purple shirt.
Okay, so as this thing was heating up, I was like,
Lauren, why would you go to the one
that has to be the hottest and then work your way down?
So we're actually gonna start
with the vinyl tool supply one.
This is the one that needs the least amount of heat.
So we're pressing at 285 for 20 seconds.
So I am going to cut this apart.
It does say to pre-press the garment for 10 to 15 seconds
to pull out the moisture.
That's not enough pressure.
Let's adjust the pressure real quick.
Still feel like we may need a little bit more pressure.
A little too much pressure.
Okay, so we have pre-pressed our garment.
According to this, we're gonna center our design,
make sure it's ready.
Press at 285 for 20 seconds with firm pressure.
Warm peel, carry your sheet off image,
and then re-press your image
with a Teflon cover sheet for 10 seconds
to set and seal the image, okay?
So we are going to line it up,
place our design.
It says just press like this with nothing on it
for 20 seconds, although we are at 279 and not going up.
So let's see.
Okay, so I have centered and placed my design.
We are closing this for 20 seconds on firm pressure.
And then we are going to take the carrier sheet off
and press it again with the Teflon sheet to seal it.
Okay, so that was 20 seconds.
They said warm peel.
That's a hot, so let's let it cool down a little bit.
Very, very hot.
Okay, warm peel is where it is at.
Do not try to peel it while it's super hot.
Then we're gonna take our Teflon sheet like it says.
We're gonna place it down,
and then we're gonna press it.
It says for another 10 seconds.
That is our 10 seconds.
And here is the finished one from Vinyl Tool Supply.
So you can see that looks really, really good.
That feels great.
It feels great.
It stretches great.
It is on there.
This one definitely gets my little seal of approval
from Vinyl Tool Supply.
So next up, we are going to do the 143 vinyl.
It needed 310 degrees.
So we're gonna bump this up to 310,
and then it's gonna press at 310 for 10 seconds.
So now that we have done the one from Vinyl Tool Supply,
we have heated our heat press up to 310 degrees,
which is where it needs to be for the 143 DTF transfer.
So once again, it is telling us to pre-press our fabric
for five to 10 seconds.
So I'm going to pre-press,
and what this does is it gets the moisture
and the wrinkles out.
So pre-pressed our fabric,
and now we are pressing this one from 143
at 310 degrees for 10 seconds.
So we're gonna line it up and press it for 10 seconds.
Now, it also tells us to do a second press
on this one as well.
So there's our 10 seconds.
Looks like it got placed down pretty well.
Not a hot peel.
We need to let it cool down.
But there was part of it
that was already coming up down here.
So I'm just gonna let this cool for a second.
Looks like those little feet are still not wanting to stick.
So I'm gonna come from the top down.
Looks pretty good.
And then it says to give it another press.
Now, their video said that they use another shirt
to cover it, or you can use parchment or butcher paper.
I'm gonna be using Teflon sheet
because that's what I used for the Vinyl Tool Supply
one, so I'm gonna lay our Teflon sheet down.
So I'm gonna lay our Teflon sheet down
and I'm gonna press it for another 10 seconds.
That is hot.
Don't do what I just did.
That is very hot.
So looking at this one,
this one also looks really, really good.
It feels really good.
It stretches really good.
I think this one also, so far,
is going to get our stamp of approval.
So now let's bump this thing up to 350,
which is how hot it needs to be for the Cricut Transfer.
So we're gonna bump it up to 350 and I will be right back.
Okay, so we are finally up to 350 degrees
and we are going to press the Cricut Transfer.
Now, this is not telling me to do a second press
and this is telling me to allow it to cool completely,
so I'm not really sure, but we're gonna do it.
Let's place this down.
We're gonna give this a pre-press.
Again, just like every other shirt that we've done,
we're gonna pre-press them all
at the temperature that it says.
This one, I've not done a full 10 seconds,
but I think that's good enough.
This is the Cricut Transfer.
I'm gonna get this little corner off of there.
It looks like that might transfer
and I don't want that to transfer over.
Beautiful.
Line it up here.
And it's gonna press for a full 30 seconds.
Okay, so Cricut said to let cool completely,
but I will say the little feet didn't want to,
like, look, hold on.
Y'all see those little feet sticking up right there?
It's not attached down.
And y'all, this has to get a second press.
It doesn't say to do a second press,
but I'm doing a second press.
And then I'm going to give these shirts,
we're gonna do a blind test
and we're gonna give these to someone
and they are gonna tell us their thoughts,
which ones they would pick.
Now, I'm not gonna press this again for a full 30 seconds
because we're at 350 degrees.
I'm gonna press it for like 10 seconds and be done.
Now, that seems to be better,
but I'm gonna let this one cool down
and then we're gonna see what someone who knows
what none of these are, we're gonna see what they say.
So, and when I say she's an expert, she's an expert, okay?
Okay, and I know you all don't want me to hold the mic,
I've read the comments, trust me,
but I'm gonna have to pass this mic back and forth
and we have Courtney here with us
and Courtney, I have three different DTF transfers.
I'm not gonna tell you which is which,
I'm gonna hand them to you
and I want you to give me your honest opinion
on all of them and which one you would choose.
We know what this one is.
I don't.
Feel is good, it feels like it really went
into the fibers of the shirt.
The design is a little bit fuzzy.
Okay.
So that's that one.
Let's see.
Okay, this one feels like it's more on top,
but it is, I think it's more crispy.
The brighter colors, less, what's the word, blurry.
More on top of the fabric.
Still a little bit blurry though.
Okay, so this one is more on top of the fabric,
this is more in the fabric,
this has better colors than this.
So there's our last one.
Okay, this is interesting.
This is probably the most plastic feeling one, I think.
But the best colors and the least blurry,
but some places there's like a tiny outline of white.
Okay, and then is this just dirt?
That's a me problem.
I think that was on the Teflon sheet.
Gotcha.
Okay, so now I need to pick my favorite.
Yes, so let me line them up for you.
This one also has some white outlines.
Okay, so I will say this.
Let's talk about, now this one,
it has outlines because of me.
That was a me problem.
But can you also look at the sizing?
Do you see a difference in the sizing?
Because I'm pretty sure I ordered these
all the exact same size.
This one's looking a little small.
I think these two are the same size.
Pretty close to the same size.
Blue is small.
I think I'm going with this one.
Number one.
So this one came from Vinyl Tool Supply.
Okay, I'm surprised by that.
I was gonna guess this one was from Vinyl Tool Supply.
No, this one was from 143.
Oh, I haven't ordered from them before.
This one came from 143.
And then this one is the Cricut.
I think this one is really good.
143 is my least favorite.
Okay.
These ones are really close,
but for different reasons.
Right.
So really, they're pretty equivalent for the most part.
I would also now wanna know the price of each of those.
So price breakdown.
Cricut was actually the cheapest
because if you're just ordering one transfer,
they offer you free shipping
and you can just buy one transfer
for like $2 and some change.
But these are cheaper the more you buy.
So it's-
So I guess if I was making one t-shirt,
I would get it from Cricut.
And if I was making a bunch,
I would get it from Vinyl Tool Supply.
And that is our true head-to-head comparison
of DTF transfers from 143 Vinyl,
Vinyl Tool Supply, and Cricut.
So it really just depends on what you're looking for.
If you're wanting just one transfer to try it out,
Cricut seems to be the fastest ship time and the cheapest.
Maybe not the best quality.
It does feel a little bit more plastic,
sits a little bit more on top of the shirt.
If you are ordering multiple,
Vinyl and Tool Supply is a great place to order from.
And Courtney, did I tell you
that she sent me one extra one?
Just because.
So I mean, either one of these places,
I really don't think you can go wrong,
but there is our full breakdown comparison of DTF transfers.
