Picture this, it's 2016, you've just unboxed your first Kylie lip kit,
Jaclyn Hill has just uploaded a video unveiling her new Champagne Pop highlighter
and Tati Westbrook has just told you all the best new products at the drugstore and life is good
and I was way more relevant on the internet but that's besides the point.
Makeup was fun and we actually got excited about new launches because we didn't have a new one
every single day and when I say new one I mean just a different colour of tinted lip balm because
what has happened with the world? I'm really sorry to anyone I offend right now but I've
got to be the one to say it, makeup these days sucks. Like everyone looks fantastic and gorgeous
and beautiful but like what do you mean it's a trend to look clean? Maybe I'm butthurt because
I feel like no teenager has gone through the weird awkward teenage stage like I had to go
through and kind of still am going through, does it ever end? But that's besides the point, either
way guys 2016 makeup is back and so we're going back in time. I mean technically did I ever really
leave 2016? Probably not but we're going to do some 2016 makeup today and I'm going to compare
it to the modern day makeup which is basically just concealer and lip gloss, let's get into it.
Now before we get into the makeup and this feels really funny for me because also I feel like in
2016 you could trust influencers a lot more so hopefully you guys still trust me because I have
spoken about this brand a lot but we do have a sponsor for today's video which is Heru Heru
which you guys know is one of my favourite skincare brands of all time and it genuinely is
okay if you haven't tried Heru Heru, I know a lot of you have, it's just great like it's sick.
I don't know, I feel like ads can seem so scripted and everything these days but this product is
sick. Try this brand please, it's really really good and you can get it from Amazon and it's like
pretty affordable, it's not super cheap because it's got good ingredients but it's way cheaper
than a lot of other like high-end skincare brands. I think you can get this for around about £20.
It's got a really nice mister, I haven't even told you what it is yet but it's basically
like a serum probiotic mist, it's called the Heru Heru Black Christ Probiotic Serum Mist and this
is what it looks like. So one of the special things about this stuff is, I don't know if you guys have
heard of it but there's this thing called NAD and I originally thought it was just like a supplement
that you take which it is and basically it's kind of like with collagen where as you get older
you lose more of it. Turns out though you can actually also put it in skincare and it just
helps to protect everything and keeps your skin like hydrated, keep it looking bouncy and nice
and just it's just good stuff. It feels good, it makes you look good instantly like it gives you
a really nice like boost of hydration but over time it also just works really well to help
maintain your skin barrier which is good stuff. I do have to say in defense of 2026 whilst I hate
most of the makeup styles, the skincare is top notch so yeah I'll leave a link to that down below.
Okay so I think I'm going to do 2016 makeup on this side and 2026 makeup on this side but guys
if you think I have any products left over from 2016 which is literally 10 years ago now then
you obviously know me really well because of course I do. I'm a hoarder like what do you think?
I have everything and I probably shouldn't put it on my face but I probably shouldn't do a lot
of things. I'm a rebel what can I say? I might regret asking this and this might upset me but
let me know how old you guys were in 2016 because I was 23. How did that happen? Why haven't I
matured? I used to be a legend drinking like WKDs no no I didn't and now I drink electrolytes
although to be fair this one this is really good not an ad by the way this one from Free Soul
uh it's the lemon one and it's really salty but it tastes like margaritas. Soap brows were all
the rage back in 2016 and I really should have cleaned this before I showed you guys but we're
keeping it real here so real to the point where I don't have a setting spray to hand actually.
Actually I have this spray this is not part of the ad by the way I am just being
big smart girl but you take like this toothbrush thing and squirt it on yourself. To be fair my
eyebrows did look a lot different back then as well but I feel like one of the most important
products from 2016 was the Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade. I don't think this one is from 2016
she's old though um and this one's in medium brown and I'm gonna go in with this little
brush here and oh god I'm gonna hate it. Okay the brows these days are better because like
we used to just fill in everything. I'm all for filling in some sparse gaps but this was a strong
brow and I remember I've got like muscle memory coming back what I would like raise the arch of
my brows. I'm gonna look so confused throughout the whole video so don't worry guys because I
will be carving out my brows in a second but um yeah that was basically what I used to do for my
brows uh whereas these days this isn't the Refye Brow Sculpt because I keep forgetting to get a
new one but I'm not sure when the Refye Brow Sculpt came out but it kind of did change the
game for brows a little bit because basically all I do now is I will just like laminate them
basically and a few years ago I would have been spiking them up like this. I've had some interesting
brows in my time um but these days I'll just kind of like follow the shape. I feel like nowadays
people are loving a lot more of a straight brow and a lot more of a natural brow and of course
a thinner brow but I've done that once I'm not doing it again and then if I ever do need to
fill something in I will literally just fill in a couple of hairs with the thinnest brow pencil
ever. This one is from Kosas. I think it's safe to say that 2026 brows are better than 2016 but
I don't know guys there's something about this slightly higher arch that just does something to
my soul. Okay for primer we of course have the Too Faced Hangover Primer which honestly had me
in a chokehold back in 2016. Oh there's a there's a chunk in it but that's okay. Okay I take that
back as I'm applying it. It does smell kind of dusty for sure and the reason I loved this stuff
back in the day was just because it felt like a moisturizer but um yeah I'm sure I would still
love this but it does smell kind of funky. So now for a more modern day primer we have this one here
from Refai. Now I see so many people using this on like TikTok and Reels. Oh my god that made a
really nice noise um and I've used it a few times but I don't know it just didn't really it just
didn't really do much for me. I like that it's got this little rollerball but yeah this came out a
few years ago I believe and I don't really hear too many people in like my day-to-day life talking
about it but I see it a lot on social media. Here's when things start to get a little more
interesting um because I actually don't know how old this foundation is um I don't think it's quite
2016 but I know I shouldn't be putting it on my face but I do also have the Tarte Double Duty
Beauty Foundation and looking at it it's like really really oily whereas this one looks kind
of okay so we're going in with this however old it is and I'm not even going to use the pump I'm
just going straight for the tube. Okay so I'm gonna put quite a bit of that on my face because
let's face it in 2016 there was no real skin texture. It was all matte and it was cakey and
it was coverage and it was good. Now this is something that I actually got sent a few years
ago and I never had one of the genuine ones of this. I always had the copies. I have an artiste
brush. What were these weird things? Like I remember Loki kind of really liking them but
they were weird. Okay oh honestly like this brush kind of slaps. Not gonna lie guys even though this
is probably doing horrendous things for my skin right now this foundation is still kind of good.
I feel like nowadays people aren't really using foundation that much anymore. They're using skin
tints and tinted moisturizers but never really foundation but I do feel like people are now just
using concealer mostly and teeny tiny amounts so that's probably even too much. I'm gonna do a
little bit here, a little bit here. It feels so wrong. I need more and of course one of the bigger
brands that came out the last few years is Rare Beauty and that's the concealer that I'm using.
I feel like I really like how the texture of my skin looks on this side but I need so much more
concealer under my eyes right now and thankfully we were not scared of concealer back in 2016.
You know I had to bring out the It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye and I'll try not to stab myself
with my very sharp nails but I always used to pat it in with my finger for ultimate coverage.
Watch me fall back in love with this stuff instantly and I always used to put it over my
lids as well because it actually made a really good eye primer. Like I still really love this
stuff but we are not done with concealer because we also have to go in with a second concealer to
brighten our under eyes even more and I'm gonna be using the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind stuff
if it wants to come out. Hello. This might also be a familiar sight for some of you guys
because tell me why we would do this. We would also do a little triangle on our forehead. We
would highlight our jawline and also a little bit of my nose but I might struggle to do that
just in case our under eyes weren't bright enough as it is. There's something about seeing a totally
beige face staring back at you that just makes me feel like yes this is makeup and of course
we've got to clean up the brows. Now you didn't think I was gonna do a 2016 makeup look without
one of the most iconic contour palettes ever. The shade and light palette by Kat Von D or now
KVD. This was so good. I'm gonna go in with this shade here because it looks like the one that was
the most used and you just do that wouldn't you. You just do loads of contour and then
go around your jaw and then a little something up here. Well obviously you have to contour the
sides of your nose and just blend it out. By the way guys a little bit of like 2016 nostalgia.
I didn't have I didn't know who to talk to about this. Has anyone seen the Carly Bible and Brett?
Are like back together and not just back together spoiler alert they're engaged.
That's all I have to say but um yeah saw that recently and realized just how back we are. Okay
whoa. Now these days everyone is loving a cream bronzer and I feel like the Refi one again is
really popular so I'm gonna take a little bit of this it's in the shade sand and I always just see
people just applying it like really kind of like roughly almost like they're just adding a little
bit of sun to their face and of course go across the nose a little bit and you can even go around
your eyes as well because eyeshadow also isn't much of a thing these days. When it came to powder
in 2016 this one reigned supreme. It was like one of the most affordable but also you've got a lot
and it was also really really good. A lot of like celebrity makeup artists used it and it's the RCMA
original no color powder but the annoying thing was with this stuff is it just came out in a tube
like this. I'm gonna put some on the back of my hand which looks really dodgy. Now I don't have
a beauty blender to hand right now just because I've packed away quite a bit of my makeup so I'm just
gonna use one of these past which didn't come out until a few years ago really but of course we have
to bake and honestly I hated baking still do but it was the done thing back in the day. This powder
was so good though. Woo! Before I powder anything down on this side we've got to go in with more
cream products so I'm gonna use a cream blush. I still don't love cream blushes. I just don't
and this one again is from Rare Beauty and it is super pigmented and by the way Katie how are you
doing today and what's for dinner? Gotcha. So then for powder on this side I'm just gonna go in with
this one here from Charlotte Tilbury which is a pressed powder so it's just gonna look a little
bit more natural and I'm barely gonna powder anything down just like the t-zone maybe a touch
under my eyes and a little bit around my mouth. So 2016 makeup had a lot more steps than 2026 makeup
so I'm going in with a powder bronzer now and this is of course the Physicians Formula Butter
Bronzer. This smells so good. I remember when this came to the UK and everyone just lost their minds
and it's still good honestly like it's a really natural bronzer but as you build it up you get a
lot more warmth. Wow this is giving very 2016 because that is so much and of course we never
matched the rest of our bodies so we always had to make up for it with loads of bronzer down our
neck. Remember the turtle face? I sure do. Well that turtle's a lot more wrinkly than it used to be.
I'm about to give you guys the biggest throwback and I remember the day that I got this and I felt
like a real live YouTuber. It is the Jaclyn Hill Becca palette. These highlighters were something
else honestly these highlights were so good but yeah I managed to get the palette and to be fair
I never really used the blushes because blush wasn't really much of a thing back then but I'm
going to use a teeny tiny amount just to add a little bit of colour. None on the nose we hadn't
discovered the nose yet. Before I put any of these on my face though because I do of course have
another highlighter to put on my face I want to give you a couple of swatches. Champagne Pop really
was that bitch. It's so good and then this was called like Gold Pop or something I think but
before I put on powder highlighter of course I need to put on a liquid highlighter just to be
sure. God this stuff had me in a choke hold and it's still really really good it's the Iconic
London original illuminator. It just did something to my soul. It's so ridiculous it's so metallic
but it's so good. I better see some brands coming out with new highlighters this year and I'm not
talking like little cream highlighters or anything like that I'm talking metallic. It's really it's
giving the 2016 Instagram pictures where we would all edit our pictures to high heavens and just
make our cheekbones like white and there really is something about it that I do just still love.
I can't help it. Iconic London is still so great but god damn they were doing things back in the
day. Now before I go into Champagne Pop because let's face it it's got to be done I just wanted
to bring a few more palettes out of the archives for you because we have the Anastasia Beverly
Hills Nicole Guerrero palette which I didn't actually really use much but I remember I had it
and um just felt like hello we're friends. Yep oh my god that one's good oh that's really good.
I mean again ABH with the glow kits. Speaking of still to this day like when I think of the
best highlighter palettes I'm just like well it's obviously it's obviously this. This was my OG one
and as you can see Bubbly was the guy. I might have to start using that again even though it's
so old but who cares. So I'm gonna go in with Champagne Pop now and let's see what she's still
got. It's ridiculous and so good like all those stupid things that we used to say when we'd be
like oh my god blinding you can see this highlighter from space like no you probably could
and of course had to highlight the crap out of my brow bone and the inner corner and the snores
oh my god and I don't do this anymore and I don't necessarily like it but we had to do the
milk mustache. How could I forget? I mean I literally made a highlighter that was semi-based
on me doing the milk mustache. It's a lot. I like it. So for highlighter on this side I'm just gonna
be using a little tiny bit of the Veve Skin Dew. Again really really great stuff. I felt like this
is today's answer to the iconic London drops and just pop that on the high points of my cheeks. I
always forget I have this stuff just because I've got so much makeup. I need to do a massive clear
out soon um but I love it. It's so nice. Another thing we recently started doing over the last few
years is fake freckles. Now I did it a little bit probably not in 2016 but like a few years after
that such a trend setter but you guys remember when I like started getting obsessed with freck
this tiny little freckle stuff and it was like 25 pounds or something um but yeah loads of people
these days have drawn fake freckles and you guys know I love them but I'm not gonna do it on this
side as much as I would love to. But yeah I'm just using this random one that I got from Shein
ages ago but I would love to know which like freckle stamp or freckle pen or whatever you
guys are loving because I don't want something that's like super intense. I want to be able to
um so yes let me know please. Thank you so much. Honestly if you're out there and you've
got a face full of natural freckles just know there's so many people out there that are jealous
of you and I hope people didn't make fun of you when you're younger because they shouldn't have
but you know what people and kids can be like but um if anyone ever did make fun of you because of
that um please just know that they're silly and freckles are cute as hell. Okay so for setting
spray I have these two here again on this side I've got the Too Faced hangover setting spray
and this one also smells low-key kind of dusty but that's okay we're already in way too deep so
I'm gonna pop some of that on my face and I don't know I feel like we just like this because of the
packaging and because it was Too Faced. Smells really weird and because it had coconut water
in it because I didn't really keep my makeup on for longer I guess it just sort of like
added a little bit of dewiness which we really needed but then on the other side I've got the
L'Oreal infallible three second setting mist and I guess hold that thought because
oh it smells really good because obviously we're not really powdering down too much
we need a good setting spray and this is a really good one. I'm looking at my viewfinder right now
and seeing the difference is crazy. Which one are you guys preferring so far like ignore the fact
I look very very beige but which side do you guys prefer? We're gonna keep this super quick
for eyeshadow on this side I have this e.l.f finest fleck glitter eyeshadow here I just feel
like people aren't really wearing eyeshadow at the moment and I would like that to change
I want cut creases back I want like halo eyes I want all of it and I feel like a lot of people
now are just putting a little bit of bronzer in their crease which is cute but we want glitter
I feel like nowadays people just can't be bothered with eyeshadow which honestly I kind of get but
there is a time and a place right like love a little wash of color on the lids but also love
a dirty little halo eye okay before I even try to finish this side of my face I'm gonna finish up
this side quickly because I need to use a stain and honestly everyone loves this product but I
just don't get it you guys I love the concept of it and it's the Sashu lip stain but I don't know
I don't know if it's like my lip shape or something I'm not sure but I just I can't apply
it the way that other people do and I'm like what's wrong with me I just really struggle to
get a nice shape and I've used this stuff before and I have figured out that it is better to apply
it all over your lips but I see so many people applying it to their lip line and then filling
it in afterwards so that's what I'm gonna do but I don't get it but anyway while I'm waiting I'm
gonna go in with a mascara and this is a tubing mascara from Technic and it's in a brown color
tubing mascaras are all the rage now they basically come off with water like it's literally in the
name it like wraps around your lashes and then you can basically like pull the little mascara
jacket off your lashes it's cool when you take it off I don't really love how it looks when I apply
it though but it's the only one that I had that was also in the shade brown because brown is a
power move at the moment and yeah like I said tubing mascaras aren't really my thing but the
Technic one is pretty good and if you think people are wearing big false lashes these days
they're just not I feel like the most people are wearing these days are little infills or like
false scara okay I think we're good to peel off like don't get me wrong it's oh it's good and it
works but I just can't get it to look good on me so to finish off this side of the look I'm gonna go
with a product that like honestly I really like the clear version of this because it's just a
really good lip balm but this the Ula Henriksen Pout Preserve Peptide Lip Treatment because I
swear every single brand now has a huge range of like tinted peptide lip balms but hey people seem
to love it it does make the lip stain look better like it blends out the lip stain a little bit more
okay so in 2016 there was one palette that kind of took over the internet and one brand especially
Morphe was everywhere every single like American influencer had some sort of Morphe code but one
palette in particular is this guy here the Jaclyn Hill Morphe palette and it was pretty good like
it was groundbreaking genuinely it seems so stupid now but it was low-key kind of groundbreaking to
have such a big palette and to also have like pops of blues and greens like it's a neutral palette
with some warm tones and cool tones it blew our little minds but we all know that a warm tone
smokey eye was the goat of 2016 makeup so as much as I hated it because I even hated it back in the
day I'm gonna do a little warm tone smokey eye with a tiny half cut crease and maybe a little
bit of glitter and when I say glitter you know I had to pull out the Stila Diamond Dust Glitter
all right let's do this and I'm gonna whizz through this quickly because if you want to see
a full tutorial then go back to one of my older videos and don't mind the fact that I look like
a totally different person the nostalgia going into this palette dude oh whoa actually this
palette's still good now I'm gonna dip in to this red shade here not gonna lie this palette still
kind of slaps even now a little bit of brown on the outer corner I never do this anymore but I
always used to go under my lash line as well just covering up the dark circles all right let's see
if I can remember how to do this let's cut the crease a little bit I'm gonna take off some of
the eyeshadow with a little white and then I'm gonna take some of my It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under
Eye again used to love this stuff cutting the crease and then you just pray oh my god and then
what I would do is I would just blend it right in the middle with my finger and set that sucker down
a little bit of glitter for old time's sake of course we've got to do a wing and as you can see
this is brand new but of course we've got to use the KVD Trooper liner which is honestly still to
this day one of the best black liners ever yes um I'm not even going to talk about how old this is
it's not quite 2016 but it definitely is too old to be going on my eyes um but I'm going to use
anyway it's the Tarte Lights Camera Lashes Mascara which was one of my faves back in the day
and might give me pink eye but that's okay because we're doing this for the love of the sport that's
nuts okay guys so of course you can't do 2016 makeup without some lashes and I'm going to use
these here from Huda Beauty because again Huda Beauty was the goat of lashes back in the day
um I'm not sure if I've actually used this style they're the Camille um shorty ones but they are
pretty 2016 but like lily lashes oh my god but before I do that of course I have to do a liquid
lipstick and I pulled out some of the classics we've got the Kylie Lip Kits in the shade um
Candy K and then also Mary Jo K I feel like we've got to go for a nude right and then I've also got
the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in the shade Ludwig also I didn't even know I still had
this because I did actually get rid of all of my Jeffree Star makeup like I said I've kept like
pretty much everything but those parts were so expensive and I knew so many people that love them
and I was just like I gave them away to a bunch of people but I just found that I had this liquid
lipstick which is from the Shane Dawson collab that's what I'm gonna say so don't ask me where
the lip pencil for this is um but I never really used to use the lip pencils with this anyway but
I think we've got to go in with this one so this is Candy K and you just go straight over the
concealer honestly the Kylie liquid lipstick formula still slaps it's still good okay guys so
this is the finished looks plural um and as you can see I did chuck in a contact lens a very blue
very unnatural looking contact lens that honestly I don't know if you can tell my eyes are not liking
this right now but it's what I was doing back in 2016 so I had to do it yeah right now my eyes are
like why have you done this I can't lie guys I still really really love 2016 makeup like yes it
was heavy yes there was so much highlight but I love it it was like full glam at its peak so I
am so ready for 2016 makeup to come back but maybe with just a little bit less highlighter and less
of these intense lashes I feel like I'm getting thrown off by the makeup but like dude that is
literally something out of an Instagram profile from 2016 if I do say so myself anyway guys I'm
gonna leave it here for today's video if you do want to check out the Haru Haru spray like I said
I'll leave links to it down below but it's really really good stuff and I'll try and leave links to
everything else in this video down below as well but yeah that is it for me today like I said I do
have a ton of content coming your way very very soon lots of makeup and some other stuff as well
which you'll hear more about very very soon but um that's it for me today I love you happy new
year and I will see you guys in the next one bye
