Can Second Peter 3:8 be used to effectively countering a soon return of Christ in the first century? Many futurists have used the text for that purpose. However, Peter used 2 Peter 3:8 to teach that Jesus return was soon to occur in a very little while. This runs counter to modern prophetic teachings. We demonstrate in this (Part 1) and our upcoming release for Part 2 that a first century return of Christ is the only proper approach to the text.
