John MacArthur, along with many others who believe in a yet future return of Christ have erroneously concluded that 2 Peter Chapter 3 is about the destruction of the physical planet.

Even though the text refers the readers to both the Old and New Testament texts these are not used by modern interpreters. As a result, they misconstrue the words of the Bible.
