I appeared on Fool Us Season 8 and it aired yesterday!!
Hey, Guys! Long time no see! Miss you guys so much. I haven't posted here on my YouTube.. But I'm so happy to brirng this good news for you!
Thanks so much for keeping my dream alive!
It’s always fun to perform my Magic to my heroes!
I hope you guys enjoy it!!!
Welcome back. When it comes to magic, this next performer knows a thing or two. Check them out.
It was always my dream to perform magic in a big Las Vegas theater.
Jackie Yoo!
Last year on Fool Us, that dream came true. I did my most complex sleight-of-hand routine,
five tricks with cards and stickers, and put together in one storyline.
Then fans said...
We followed you really well.
I thought, uh-oh, did they guess it?
And then that sticker came in. You're gonna put that sticker on your Fool Us trophy.
You fooled them!
Right?
This was one of the great moments in my life. I was so happy.
It'll be very hard to top that moment, but I'm gonna try.
I practiced last year's trick for 10 years.
Tonight, I'm gonna show a fan and tell her something brand new.
I want them to see I have more magic inside me.
My wife is a magician also, and we sometimes perform together.
Because of her support, it felt like she won the trophy too.
But there are two magicians at my house.
I think two magicians should have two trophies.
So I'm giving this everything I have for my wife and for me.
I want to win tonight.
...and even quicker handed, Jackie Yoo!
Last year, I didn't know what to do as a magician because of pandemic.
So I started to post magic videos on my social media.
Since then, I've made a lot of magic.
And today, I'm gonna show you one of the best magic that I made at the time.
This is simple.
I'm gonna use one, two, three, four cards.
And let me show you.
One, two, three, four.
But interesting is that if I snap, one, two, three.
Snap, one, two.
One card left.
See?
Yeah, people loved it.
But some people in the comment section said,
that's cool, but why did you cover the table with black cloth?
I think you hide something there.
People on the internet are really smart these days.
But I always wanted to break their assumption.
And I did.
Let me show you once again without the tablecloth.
See?
I'm gonna use one, two, three, four cards.
See?
One, two, three, four.
But snap.
One, two, three.
Snap.
One, two.
One card left.
See?
Done.
Yeah, yeah.
Thank you, thank you.
All right, yeah.
This time, most people shut their mouth.
But some people still said,
that's cool, but I think that's not the glass table.
That's a video screen.
And also, why did you wear black pants?
I think you hide something there.
Yeah, I always wanted to break their assumption.
And I wanted to develop the trick.
After, I wore short pants.
See?
I'm gonna use one, two, three, four cards.
Let me show you.
One, two, three, four.
But this is last.
So let me show you something more difficult.
As you see, this is glass table.
Nothing.
But if I drop the card.
See?
One card.
Mask click.
Pass through the table.
See?
Let's do it again.
I have one, two, three cards.
See?
Three cards.
Nothing.
Watch.
Second one.
Pass through the table.
And two cards here.
One, two.
See?
All four kings pass through the table.
And this is last.
Four kings.
One, two, three, four.
Jackie, yeah.
Amazing.
So how long did it take you to come up with this trick?
This one, I posted something every time on my social media.
It took just like one year.
Yeah, during the pandemic.
And so you obviously take their comments into your brain
and sort of adjust your technique.
That inspired me a lot.
Actually, people have a good eye.
They don't know how it works, but they know it's good or not.
So social media has changed your magic.
Yes, right.
You've won a lot of magic awards and a Foolish Trophy.
Do you feel like you could relax now?
Actually, every time I got nervous.
Yeah, because it's a huge stage and they are my hero.
Yeah, when I was a little kid.
So yeah.
Because you didn't seem nervous at all.
Yes, but this is the first time to show this one.
And like a big theater.
So yeah, it makes me nervous.
Yeah.
And you got to do a little quick change.
Yes, right.
Actually, yeah, my wife and I do quick change act together.
And you try every trick out on her first?
Yes, right.
Always gave me, yeah, good feedback.
Oh, good.
You're a good team.
Yes, right.
Great.
Okay, Jackie, let's see if your trick fooled Penn and Teller.
Yeah.
Hey, Jackie, good to see you again, boy.
You know, the most important thing in magic
is to do stuff that looks magical.
Yes.
And that's really miraculous.
Oh, wow.
I mean, there's just moments in that that are just boom.
I mean, many, many moments that are just really look like magic.
You know, it just bypasses, goes right to the lizard brain,
and just says that's impossible.
I also love the fact that you break down that stupid black tablecloth
and just accept the fact that people know that.
We always like people taking off their pants.
That always pleases us.
One thing you had going through that
is just staying one step ahead of not just us, but everybody.
Everybody's going through that as you try to work it out.
They're going, that's where it is.
No, that's where it is.
And the answer is that you just have a completely unique angle on this
that really does sell it in a way that other magicians haven't.
I don't think we've seen anybody with that angle on that trick.
It's really good the way that's done.
It's really beautiful.
And the most important thing is it really does look magical
at a gut level, hit you in the face with a baseball bat.
But we don't think you fooled us.
Yes.
So, Jackie, did they figure out your trick?
Yes, they got it.
Yeah.
Well, you fooled me.
Yeah, thank you.
And entertained us all.
So thank you, Jackie Yu.
We've got more amazing acts,
including Penn and Teller themselves to close the show.
So stick around.
