Cycling the world - Asia: episode 33
I leave my desert campsite in the UAE and stumble upon a ghost village slowly being swallowed by sand. From there I ride toward Hatta, but the day takes an unexpected turn when I find myself on the route of the UAE Tour, right as the pro peloton comes through. Apparently I even made it onto live TV.
The ride continues with small struggles, from not being able to buy food due to no card payments to finally reaching a supermarket before Hatta. I spend a few days at Hatta Bike Hub with other travellers, a rare social break on the road, before crossing into Oman.
Right after the border the landscape changes completely. I leave the flat desert behind and ride into steep rolling mountains, unsure of the route but drawn in by the scenery. Tough climbs, sharp descents and a completely new environment mark the start of a different chapter of this journey.
