I Camped at the Best SLOTH SPOTTING Location - EP.366

Chillie, where are you? She's just like right there behind me. She's packed as well. She's ready to go. I have a big ambition today. I would like to camp in the middle of the rain season. It's very wet. You know how it is these days. But I haven't camped for months because of the weather and I'm already three months in Costa Rica. Can you imagine? Yeah? We're probably gonna be here for another week so I need to camp at least once more. So I did mark this place which is like maybe three hours away from here and hopefully when we get there it's not wet so I'll set up my tent. I'll be brave enough. Fingers crossed. So long beautiful place. I can see the river from here. You probably won't be able to see through these trees but this river was absolutely amazing. Bye bye. In 600 meters at the roundabout take the second exit and stay on Carretera That's our street. Okay. Right. But it's not just a campground actually. I'm able to do a tour to see sloths. Sloths? You know which ones I'm talking about. Yes. I think sloths would like this type environment. Here? No sign but I think something is here. Hola! And I'm all set. Oh my god I love this place. Have a look. Have a look what's going on here. So. So I have neighbors. These guys are from Argentina. They're seven years on the road. Yep. They're slower than me. It took them seven years to get from Argentina to Costa Rica. Now this is Chillie. She loves it. She'll be dry tonight. This is my setup for camping under the shelter. Here we have dining area and kitchen. But the most important thing I want to show you. This is so nice. They put out a lot of fruit so birds can have their meals here. So I'll be able to observe all these little birds. And look this banana is nearly gone. They were busy. Papaya it's nearly gone. It's a bird feast I'd say. And I'm sleeping right in the front of it. So good. So I'm staying in this place for two days because tomorrow at 9am I'm doing sloth tour and apparently can swim somewhere in the river here. So I'm already excited. And tonight I'll be able to see these green froggies. So those green frogs are the icon of Costa Rica. I don't know if they're only here or in other countries but it's just a thing to see here. But they're only active at night. So there are night tours to see them. But I've never done the night tour. I did the day tour. So when I was seeing them they were asleep. It's like I'm camping and I'm going to see a sloth and a froggie all in one. Dream come true. Now where to position my camera so we get different birds. Because there's so many of them and they're so colorful. I just can't get all of them at the same time. I reckon here they pretty much ate it all. On this side of the table. Oh here's a full banana. No it looks like here is the best for now. Oh mate you're so beautiful. I've never seen them in such beautiful colors. Oh this is the shot I wanted. Come back. Come back. Oh my god I'm obsessed with these birds. This bird watching is very addictive. I'm sitting for like one hour here on my chair. You can't see because the camera is facing the birds. But there are blue hummingbirds. He's just. Oh can you see him? He's just like above the top banana. Maybe he's gonna go down. There he is. Oh my god. Blue hummingbird. I've gotcha. It's 7 p.m. It's dark. This is Juan my neighbor from Leuven. And Juan knows where the froggie lives. So we found it like literally first thing. Okay she's so calm and chill. But this is her time to be active right? This is her dinner time. I mean breakfast. I guess she's woke up for breakfast now. You are unbelievably cute. Whoa there's another one. You are very cute as well I must say. Look at you mate. That's a different type I think right? So there's one here and there's like one sticking out here. So here we have eggs right? Yeah are protected with some kind of gel. And when the kids are born, they jump to the water. In Argentina when you are a child, your parents say if you stay too close to the frog, they pee on you and you gonna be blind. Oh no. So yeah it's very hard to describe how big this frog is but it's like two of my fists I think. That's the size of it. Here's one more. Are they everywhere? Look at you guys. I'm back to my tent and I'm just like I can't believe what I just saw. All these little froggies are just like literally next to my tent. Unbelievable. People pay a lot of money to see these frogs here you know. So I was very lucky with this one. All right well tomorrow morning we're gonna see some slots. Slots? You know what I mean. Oso perezoso numero dos. I think he's a youngster. Counting the baby is three. Oh numero tres. There he is. So the first one was Maria with baby Jesus. And this one is Antonio. What Jesus is the name? Yeah yeah of course. Breaking news. Antonio is not Antonio. Antonia. It's Antonia. This is like he's like maybe two meters away from me. And he's a baby one. So I reckon six months. Six months. So he just split up with his mama and he's on his own because the rule is. He's three claws yeah? Yeah. He's got his little face. So the rule is he stay with the mother for six months and after six months you're on your own. Mama just ditches you. So we think he just separated with his mother. Oh he's so small. Yeah. So chill. That's it. His name is Peluche. You are so good looking Peluche. Maybe eat lunch there. Maybe. Maybe. Oh are you gonna. No no no no no. No. Are you coming down? He's giving his back. Oh that's a big movement. He's very active today. Truly he's like a little koala. I think you need to have them set on the time lapse because it's just takes too much footage just to record any movement. Yeah. Four hours later he's still there. We're going further. So we already saw four of them. So he's like right there. I think I'm pointing you right. Apparently he's a year and a half old and his name is Leonardo. Leo. Leo. That's it. He totally looks like Leonardo. What is this? Guanabana. Guanabana. I've tried it once. Oh my god these are the massive ones and they are very juicy hey inside. This one is massive. It's bigger than my head. In four days. Really? We're back to the little one. Peluche just went to another tree and he's very very fast today. Clearly he just needed some space. He's very energetic. He's a little explorer. Definitely the most active sloth we've seen today. Oh look at you Peluche go. Unreal. He's on it. They look like they are monsters. Oh my god they're huge. Oh they will? Yeah. And it doesn't hurt? Yeah. Too much. Wow they're massive. I think they're two, two and a half, three centimeters big. Gum tree. It's a natural elastic. All right. No way. A true story. Whoa. And this seriously looks like someone painted it. They don't look real hey. She's just so cute. Like a decoration. So this is the river close to our camp and this is our first swimming option. Oh there's like a little waterfall here, fallen tree and the river. I got you. Hello. Nice jeans. That's a bat. He just lives in the tree. I think he's just sleeping now because it's daytime. Wow. He came out to eat. Yeah. So this is the tree that he, this is his house. Just this dead tree. You just won't believe what happened. Guess what is this? Guess what? Guess what? Guess what? This tree is cinnamon. So this stick, this one as well? Yeah. And this one? Yeah. All of them. This is cinnamon tree. You can cook or taking the skin. Some pieces of that. I'm gonna try it with my lunch. You can dry it at the sun. Skin. So people normally dry the skin but if I put a full stick, like a stick like that, it's okay right? We'll see. I will try. It really smells like fresh cinnamon. You know, not old one that you keep in a jar. It's like really fresh. Hold on. What we have here? That's a beautiful flower. What is it called? So, I'm going back to the swimming hole, because you know me and swimming. I'm obsessed. Hello river, I'm back. Oh, yes. I'm so excited, I cannot hide it. And this is the highlight of the day. I get to swim in this beautiful river, in the jungle, the mini jungle, where Sloth sleeps tonight. Not one, not two, there's plenty of them, as we know. They're everywhere. Honestly, this was the best wildlife experience I've had in Costa Rica, and I've done a few natural parks with my family. So, this was like truly the best, the most authentic experience. I can't believe randomly I found this place. Just epic. The baby is pooping. So, I guess he was tuned for poop, because they only do it like once a week. I think I saw a baby pooping.
