From Dodger Stadium once again
see a pair of blue blood
franchises in baseball square
off the third and final time in
this series the series on the
line for the Dodgers and Cubs
where the Dodger lefty he's
making his fifth appearance and
fourth start of the year the
one one that's lined out of the
center field as if on cue he
just loves getting the game off
to a good start and that's too
high ball for and the first to
have reached so two on nobody
out and here's half strikes out
half hitting him with a slider
for the first down to the ball
game and the backdoor slider to
get the swing and miss a three
to called strike three a frozen
fastball in the inner half
Suzuki knew it back to back
punch outs for Robleski.
It's interesting that's the
second batter he's coming inside
on that fastball and both times
has been catching them by
surprise and called strikes two
on two out no score in the first
round ball to third Espinel has
it in the gloves shuffles and
throws to Freeman and Justin
Robleski wiggles out of it.
The first two Cubs get on but
none of them score that
fastball.
Velocity is up.
It's a career high where he's at
right now.
Five of his seven runs of loud
this season have come via that
home run.
And I think that's the reason he
spent so much time in spring
training trying to get something
to keep the ball out of the air
with that sinking fastball that
he's going to be using a lot
today.
Now payoff for Tony takes a lead
down for so show.
He went into yesterday's game
over his last twelve and had a
productive day singling walking
twice as a board again here.
There goes Ohtani.
We've seen run more the last few
days for ricochets off his foot
in the left and he's going to
take ninety more throwback to
twenty twenty four.
Ohtani wreaking havoc on the
bases hitting pitching track and
field and soccer and the ball
just hit him in the shin there.
First of all let's hope he's
OK.
Three two takes ball for second
walk in the inning.
Really good take by Teoscar
Hernandez.
First and third one out Andy
Pajas at the plate the infield
now back now for Chicago on a
two one pitch digs it out flies
it the other way.
And there's a guy who's an RBI
Ohtani comes in to score a
sacrifice fly from Pajas.
All you can handle get it in the
air and get in the sacrifice fly
and see the appreciation from
his manager as well.
Dodgers on the board first taking
advantage of these first inning
walks in Ohtani his legs on the
bases and here's Kyle Tucker
three one pitch to Tucker.
Pulled down the right field side
it's a fair ball just inside the
line ricochets off the wall.
Teoscar Hernandez has to hold at
third base as Suzuki gets the
ball back in a two out double
for Tucker his second double in
as many days.
So the Dodgers have two in
scoring position with two out
in the first already leading one
to nothing.
And yet Miguel Rojas at the
plate Mo who despite having
limited playing time
inconsistent playing time has
found ways to stay ready.
That ball's cranked up is over
and it's over.
Lost a second to run double
runners in scoring position with
two outs coming into that half
of the Dodgers in the three spot
here in the first and now the
two to strike three called and
that ends the inning.
But the Dodgers score three on
two hits.
Michael Bush staying back.
In the air out towards left
center field that'll touch down
for it and that's going to roll
Bush around first and bushy this
second and he'll dive in.
He's got a double so very nice
start for the second inning for
the Cubs.
That is the third walk already
for Justin Robleski and the
bases are loaded for the Cubs
here.
Nico Horner one of the top
hitters for average in the
National League.
He's one for one today taken for
strike two.
Rushing didn't realize that it
should have been called a
strike.
He was challenging Horner did
and he was challenging.
So no matter what the call was
we're going to get a challenge
there.
Here it is.
CBS powered by T-Mobile and it
just barely nicked the corner.
The ultimate ABS strike another
payoff.
He struck him on a strike him
out and it's back at it with the
fastball on the inner half and
he gets the call that barrel
strike zone and then just climbs
the ladder with that one to get
the swing and miss.
He's not done yet.
They're still loaded and it's
Alex Bregman at the plate
groundsman to short juggled by
Kim flips it across and somehow
he's out of this on the scope.
The Cubs have the bases loaded
have Robleski teetering with a
couple of empty handed when I
see Shohei we really know the
times that he is struggling is
really when his front shoulder
and his hips are going out
together.
His front hip will definitely
open up a lot of times he can
open up that front hip and keep
that front shoulder closed
ground ball through the right
side of the base here.
And when he's doing that he's
staying inside close he's able
to drive the ball the other way
stays on pitches a lot better
as we see the power to the
opposite field.
Also it gives him time to in
case he's out front on pitches
like that.
And the Niagara ready Freeman
waits Freeman swings and misses
and the Dodgers have done in the
second inning.
Now this is very cool for this
time of year here in Los Angeles
here's a deep drive in the left
center field back goes P.C.A. to
the wall.
Leaping up and makes the catch.
He might have taken a home run
away from Teoscar Hernandez the
way he was going back run.
I thought the ball was going to
sail over the fence but he
timed his jump perfectly and
steals an extra base hit away
from Teoscar.
Yeah this ball is going to hit
right at the very top of the
wall and Pete just goes in
grabs it and then slams into the
wall with his back first.
Excellent play by Petro
Armstrong.
Six K's now for Imanaga who has
to face Shohei Ohtani for a
third time.
There is a shot and a base hit
for Ohtani Ohtani has been on
all three times tries to make
this a double and does so he's
reached base six times the last
two days two for two in this
game getting himself in a scoring
position for Freddie Freeman
one of the yesterday without a
strikeout over his last seven
games but he's got four of them
the last two days Freeman drives
this one out towards right
center Suzuki sliding and he
makes the grab.
That's a heck of a play.
Say steals a hit in the
outfielder's first move is going
to be to either freeze or take a
step back and then he didn't let
up on it.
He just kept coming coming.
That's a tremendous play.
The pitch line drive it to
shallow left coming in half and
he makes the catch chest high
off to his left for out number
three Ohtani stranded at second
base.
Look at that.
He's just he's right on the
corners there.
Here's Obrezki's three to.
Tied him up strike three.
Same way he ended up getting
them to swing and miss on the
ball up his first at bat to get
Swanson going after this again
trying to hold up and you just
can't.
Two strikes.
This is popped in the air
playable on right field for Kyle
Tucker has to redirect as the
wind blows it over and he makes
the catch to gone.
Another three two from
Obrezki.
Sky high right side.
This won't be easy.
Nothing is today.
Freddie Freeman has got it.
And so Obrezki has six shutout
innings in the books three
nothing Dodgers a couple of
starting pitchers doing an old
school impression today fighting
their way through him and not
get here to the sixth inning
after he gave up three runs in
the first Dodgers just to hit
since back to a breaking pitch
swatted into right base hit for
Pajas aggressively out of the
box headed for second with a
stand up double.
Great job by Andy Pajas.
That's a walk for Tucker first
to have reached for the Dodgers
in the six.
OK here's Rojas stepping in as a
check swing bouncer back toward
the mound.
It's going to be a tough play
short to throw his to first and
they got him.
Very nice footwork by Bush
sliding into foul territory and
then keeping the right foot on
the bag.
He made that look easy.
It wasn't wasn't easy on either
end.
Shota ends up throwing this ball
on the almost on the line.
He comes over so far to get to
this ball.
So very nice defensive play by
him and I get in Bush.
So second and third for rushing.
Here's the payoff.
Rushing Corks a base hit through
the right side.
Pajas in the score Tucker stops
at third four to nothing.
Dodgers on the board for the
first time since the first
Imanaga leaves the bullpen goes
to work.
Simon Agas finished the book not
yet close runners at first and
third his responsibilities.
Hobe Milner checks in Espinel
Bunce through it and now throw
down to Ford and that will get
the run in as the ricochets off
Tucker rushes up his second as
Tucker comes in to score.
It leads five to nothing.
One thing about the Cubs it had
really really good defense solid
defense and already a couple
years here though from the
catcher throwing their first
inning when Shohei was stealing
second base and then now this
throw in there.
Shohei Ohtani leading things off
swinging at the first pitch
driving it the other way back it
goes and it's Ohtani his first
home run is in a dozen games.
He needed that swing Mo and that
was against the wind is six of
the season and it's now six to
nothing.
Here's the old one fly ball
shallow right racing out Shaw
coming in and making a sliding
catch is say Suzuki very nice
play.
Dodgers out hitting the Cubs
seven for liner towards center
coming in Pete Armstrong makes a
nice diving catch to end the
inning.
There's that gold glove defense
flashed by P.C.A.
Nice play against the team that
won 10 consecutive games going
into yesterday on the verge of
taking the series it'd be their
first series win since they
swept the Mets in the last home
stand.
Big bounce the right side and it
takes Calhoun out of five
pitches to work a one two three
ninth inning and the Dodgers
come back to take this series
from the Cubs six runs on seven
hits for the Dodgers finally
their counter does what hadn't
been done yet today that is a
one two three inning for Dodger
pitching is a good win and able
to win this series.
