Museums Have Been Lying To Us For 400 Years: The Truth About Marble Lace

In the Uffizi Gallery in Florence there stands a sixteenth-century marble bust which no modern sculptor can reproduce — not even with diamond cutters, lasers and computer control. Its pleated collar with hollows and lace trimming breaks every law of working with stone. The official version — "manual carving in marble". But every attempt to reproduce such work in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries has ended with a shattered blank.
In this video we break down the real technology used by European masters of the Renaissance and Baroque. The very one described in the Soviet "Handbook of the Artisan" by G. G. Brodersen, 1931. A recipe based on gypsum, lime and Pompeian cement — with trails leading back into antiquity, to Roman builders and Roman pozzolana.
You will learn why marble cannot be "softened" in principle, how oselkovy mramor works, why restorers at Versailles and the Hermitage apply this compound to this day, and how the Italian sculptor Giuliano Finelli created marble lace that leaves modern masters empty-handed.
