Your Hands are TOO SLOW in Pickleball (Fix This)
4 Video Views·Apr 25, 2026
This is what fast hands actually looks like.
If you're losing hands battles at the kitchen, this is why.
It's not your reaction time.
I play pro pickleball and if your hands aren't fast at this level, it gets really tough.
So here's exactly what helped me build mine.
Most players think you have fast hands or you don't.
Like it's something that you have to be bored with.
But it's actually something that you can build once you know what to focus on.
Right here, bigger swing, late contact.
It just makes things so much harder.
So what actually makes your hands faster?
The first thing that really helped me was keeping everything more compact,
short and controlled.
That's what actually gives you speed.
Along with that, actually having your paddle up and ready makes a huge difference.
When you're set early, it makes everything feel easier.
And once you start expecting speed here, you're able to react way quicker.
At higher levels, this speeds up fast.
From there, it really comes down to the reps you're getting.
Spending more time at the kitchen.
This is where your hands actually develop.
Playing against faster, more aggressive players.
You naturally get quicker in these situations.
And actually making sure your drills have pace.
The faster the drill, the quicker your hands improve and get faster.
And honestly, one of the biggest things is just staying relaxed in these moments.
The best players stay calm here.
And once you're comfortable, everything starts to feel faster.
Because at the end of the day, it's not faster hands.
It's quicker, cleaner movements.
Short and simple.
That's what makes everything quicker.
So if you want faster hands, focus on getting more reps,
drilling with faster players, drilling with pace,
and keeping everything compact and relaxed.
