Christian Alshon vs Cason Campbell at the Pickleball Central Indoor National Championships | PPA PPA Tour và Christian
71 Video Views·Feb 2, 2026
Bang. Yeah, that's that's good start for a case.
I think he's like he did the first two points there.
Bang the serve and bang the return.
Go for his shots.
Guys got a lot of one just wide from from Campbell and credit.
It looked like one of the shots from case and hit off the net
and how Sean reacted in real time to still land the volley
off the charts early in this one.
You see case and Campbell there go with the bit of a tea serve
to the Alshon forehand.
Looks like it caught him off guard.
Make that three nothing in favor of the 14 seat.
Now for what point do you call timeout here?
Greg?
I would say now for Christian, but it looks like he's going
to keep it rolling momentum ties with the net.
Sorry for that reaction.
I just want to listen.
I'm cheering for case in here.
I'm sorry.
I'm just going to say it.
I don't care.
I'm cheering for the underdog nothing against Christian, but
and I did say you would keep this close and he's up for zip
and you know, Greg's knock on wood.
Knock on wood.
But you know, remember the Humberg return the flat return
and then she you know, so Greg's looking good today.
That's the third net cord with it.
You could have been down in that first round and certainly
taking full advantage.
Also, I'm looking for the backhand pass.
It's the rate sign on the net.
Yeah, good.
Good spot on the return there for case in house.
It's got it back in but definitely prefers the forehand
somehow stays in case and Campbell firing on all cylinders
just right on the line.
The forehand winner.
Come on makes it look so easy.
But to follow the ball and hit the forehand with that timing
while in the air often overhead to it's like for a winner like
it's such a great shot.
Oh, no.
Okay.
So and misfires on that backhanded and all of a sudden
you kind of feel the momentum.
It's palpable.
It is off of just one point off of the two-point sequence.
See if Alshon can feel it too.
And it's interesting too.
It's just like three mistakes by Casey, especially the first
to the third one, you know, just now.
Okay, whatever miss it for him.
The first two are just mistakes.
So not like Alshon doing anything special.
That one was a good point by Alshon here in it.
But like, you know, three points kind of given to Christian.
I think Casey needs a timeout right now.
It's going to choose to keep going three-six on the paddle
of Christian Alshon.
Hesitation there from Alshon looked like he wanted to try
and step in and lunge take the back end out of the air decides
not to.
Yeah, a little indecision and it's a big point for Casey.
What a return for Christian Alshon deep forehand corner.
Just I would love for Cason to get off of six here.
Just is playing.
Well, six three just seems like it's just not enough of a gap
right now.
You know, Alshon is going to go on and run this game.
You just know it.
Another deep return from Christian Alshon.
Slowly cut into this lead trailing by three.
Just right on the backhand.
Seen some trouble off that wing so far for the number three
seat.
Whether it's trying to hit inside and inside out forehand
or just going for a standard backhand.
We'll look to get that dialed in.
There's the yell from Christian Alshon looking to will himself
awake early in this one.
Kind of uses that to raise his level race his intensity.
Again, maybe just over jumps the volley.
Yeah, it looked like.
Not one that he usually misses for sure.
Cason's got to take advantage though.
It's been a few side out.
He's got to get off six.
There is what he does right there.
That's angle on the forehand volley.
So these two have actually faced off at this tournament
before back in 2024.
Alshon won that one in three games.
So we could we could certainly be in store for for another
one.
Good to be back in Minnesota.
There was weren't here in 2025, but always a fun stop.
Here we go.
Especially since we're indoors not outdoors.
You know what?
I kind of like the cold for like 10 seconds.
Back in again failing Alshon visibly frustrated on that
lead out of the timeout.
Grindy point there from Alshon.
Not trying to be too aggressive wanting to force the air.
380.
Decision to not hit that volley for real.
Great decision from Alshon.
You know, you just you know, there's going to be a run from
Alshon.
He's not going to give case in this game.
In case and weather the storm and that's the shot right there.
The backhand from Alshon is just he's trying to drive a
couple.
He tried a little drip there and it just has not worked.
So great spot on the return from case in.
Christian Alshon able to regain control of the point risky
play with the drop volley from Campbell.
It does not pay off.
I know you just you just can't drop shot Alshon like that.
The guy's too big too fast.
Don't make that decision.
Just don't love it.
It's not Greg over there.
It's Alshon.
That's a good.
When your opponent's way back and you've got a higher ball,
whatever you can throw in the drop.
Alshon was not on his back foot, right?
Case was on his back foot there.
I shot clean winner from Christian Alshon to number three
seed.
Big point out of the time out there for case and Campbell
gets the serve back.
Yeah, it's a spot.
I mean, that's that's that's the recipe right there.
Another backhand sprayed wide.
Usually when you're missing it like that, it's because your
contact points a little bit late.
Yeah, and we've seen that same spot of a miss about three or
four times so far this game.
Nice change up on the serve Alshon shading backhand nice
upper teeth in case and 10-6 game point for case in Campbell.
Can we get a nice towel timeout use?
Walks over to the towel walks over to the ball.
You know, it's classic barely taps the ball over to case in
you got to use it.
I mean, I use it.
It is what it is.
And we're back to back missed returns from Christian Alshon
11-6 opening game for case in Campbell for Christian Alshon.
Just long.
The number three seed can find something here in the second.
That's the x-factor right there that Alshon backhand dialed
that one in on the first point.
Yeah, absolutely.
I mean it was just bad in the first game to be honest.
He tried to drip it.
He tried to drive it was missing both and that was a sick
drift though.
So a really good sign for Christian for this game.
And that was a really tough one.
He made like just kind of a quarter 60% drive down the line
back at that's really tough and want to start here for Christian
Alshon for nothing and you can't say you're surprised.
He's the number three seed for a reason has so much experience
competing in big matches being down and coming back.
This is what you come to expect.
From Christian Alshon.
Are you kidding me?
A touch of class from case in Campbell?
King case in with the paddle angle on that shot completely
open.
We feel like that should be worth three points for sure.
Case in with a quick fist pump there.
He's not going to get you.
You can't just get killed this second game.
You don't want it to feel like a fluke in your head.
If he gets beat 11 to this game, it might feel like a fluke
the first game, right?
Then you don't a lot of confidence going to the third.
So even if he loses the second game, keep it reasonable
if you're casing or just winning like that with the drop and
you get some shoe instruction here on pickleball TV.
Campbell a little frustrated that that ball didn't bounce
up as high as he would have liked it to.
Effectively serves as a timeout for Christian Alshon without
having to burn one.
Highly effective.
Finished with a forehand was going backhand to backhand for
four straight shots.
Alshon claims the upper hand.
Casey did all he could there but Alshon too good.
The incredible court coverage from Alshon still not enough
just precisely placed drives passing shots from casing
Campbell just extending the rally as Alshon pays off.
And he just made he makes the court look so small when he's
at that kitchen line Greg.
He really does because that was I mean just felt like Casey
could put that ball anywhere and win the point but Alshon
does it makes it feel like he's going to get to everything.
The drop volley again and it's not like Alshon's not getting
to them and taking the timeout on serve does not pay off for
casing Campbell.
I'll try to look to build his lead.
Just clean and those are the types of points that Christian
Alshon wants to play big serve finish it quickly with the
forehand.
Absolutely in case of doing a good job of not letting him get
those easy points make him earn everything make him hit a lot
of backhands, but I want to just can't hit it to the middle
and let Christian have an easy forehand.
It's just that it just can't happen.
8-2.
Everybody see Campbell finds the backhand on that one pays
off.
And Alshon is going to challenge that call from casing
especially on the backhand.
That's been a lot of net courts in favor of casing Campbell
so far in this one.
I think that's five and that one surely had an impact on the
outcome of that point.
I can't believe Christian even got a paddle on that.
I mean, it's a it's next-level athleticism and vision in
reaction time.
All of those things.
Jason able to withstand the barrage of forehands.
Now within three.
Great serve point.
That's the third teaser taken down.
Gabe Joseph.
12-10 11-9 big win.
That's a heck of a round of 16 matchup indoors.
No free challenge results in a technical warning.
One free challenge remaining.
We'll resume play at point 68.
Oh, no.
Had a good look at a high backhand.
Chance for Alshon to get off eight.
And that's what he does.
Clutch timing off the backhand drop.
Yeah, using that drop drip with the backhand Alshon.
He still hasn't really found the drive, but the drips are
working.
Alshon after that one telling himself to stay low kind of
motioning to himself.
Stay low through the shot.
Looking to bring this one to a third game.
I miss it.
He has to just long.
Christian Alshon drop volley into the backhand winner game
point 10-6.
10-6.
Coverage there from Kaysen Campbell gets to seven.
You gotta love the fight in Kaysen Campbell down 8-2, 8-3
here could easily throw in the towel go to the third game,
but he's still in this one.
Campbell ambitiously going for that backhand angle unable to
execute.
Alshon another chance to send us to three.
Stays in it.
Alshon looking to go inside out there.
Love the fight from Kaysen.
And that is one that Alshon is going to want back fought
through a great serve.
Wow, fought through a net cord.
Split screen here for a moment.
Somehow in for Cam Chafin.
So we're back here on Humana Championship Court as well.
Kaysen Campbell now within 1-9-10.
Feel like we're doing NFL Red Zone, right?
Insane, too many good matches.
Cam Chafin.
That one called out from Staxrude.
Alshon gets the serve back.
Another game point, his third game point opportunity.
Can feel the tension here at Lifetime.
Lakeville spots in the quarterfinals on the line.
Staxrude puts another one on the board still trailing by
six there on grandstand.
Alshon can close it out here.
And he can as Campbell sends the forehand volley into the
net. We're going three here on Humana Championship Court
to go back to a two box.
Christian Alshon starting things off against Kaysen Campbell.
We mentioned it throughout this match, Greg.
Finding Alshon's backhand has been the recipe for success
for Kaysen Campbell finds it right there.
As Cam Chafin gets the serve back
on grandstand.
8-4.
And a very extended towel side foul for Staxrude.
The 44 seed is Cam Chafin.
Wow.
And misfires on that return 9-4.
As Alshon strikes first here in game three.
And a quick 2-0 lead here for Christian Alshon.
There were some tense moments there in that second game,
Greg, as Campbell is cutting into the lead.
Oh man, Kaysen. Just wide the misfire and you see some
frustration there
from Kaysen Campbell.
And Staxrude puts another one on the board on grandstand 5-9.
So good from Kaysen.
What a forehand drop
to get the serve back and a little help off the net there
for Staxrude on grandstand.
Now the lead is just three.
Another one for Staxrude.
We got to take it off.
I feel like
we put the camera on grandstand and Staxrude wins six points
in a row like
I feel bad for
Chafin right now.
Was it 8-1?
It was 8-1 and just for something like that for Cam
Chafin, the clean backhand winner.
And a clean forehand winner on the volley from Kaysen Campbell
gets the serve back looking to get on the board.
Staxrude misses the volley.
Will Dotton and Greg Dow doing a little multicast action for
you here from Minnesota as Kaysen tags
Christian Alshon.
That one was going to be nowhere near
staying in and
Campbell immediately apologetic even goes to get the ball
after it ricocheted on the court.
Point for Chafin
and he misses the backhand.
Oh my God, Chafin is going to challenge this one too.
And we'll see if Federico
1-3.
He's going to make another bad call as he penalized earlier.
This one is huge.
The match on the line
as Campbell comes back with a clean backhand winner.
This one does look to be just wide
question mark.
Yeah, I think so.
It's very tough to overturn.
Very tough to overturn that one.
Very close.
We expect to be confirmed
on Grand Sengen.
That was on match point.
That could have been for all the marbles
for Chafin to pull off.
What would be the upset of the tournament to this
point?
Both top seeds in big battles right now.
Three games.
And so is the top of the number three seed Christian Alshon
3-2 here on Humanity Championship Court.
And Alshon puts that one way authoritatively
as stacks rude back to the line to serve on Grand Sengen.
Into the net a nut match point on the paddle of Cam Chafin.
Nerves of steel.
For Federico stacks.
You're able to find the angle on the backhand
to match point saved.
It's case in Campbell trailing to four here early in the
third.
Two for
Cam Chafin unfazed.
This is match point
two or three or three.
We'll see if three is the lucky number
for the 44 seed
for two
extending the point but stacks rude says not finished yet.
From Campbell wins the cat-and-mouse exchange.
Are you kidding me?
The feathery touch on the backhand
non-stop entertainment here on Championship Court in Grand
Sengen stacks rude finds the forehand angle pulls within
two
great volume case in the angle from Campbell
pulls him within one
what a sequence from Cam Chafin match point number four coming
up on grandstand.
I mean look at the
cool calm and collected
is the 14 year old
is to the neck.
Cam Chafin has done it.
The 44 seed 14 years old takes down the number two seed
Federico stacks rude 11-8
in the third.
You see the final score line there.
What a run in Minnesota
for Cam Chafin beats Donald Young
beats Adam Harvey beats Federico stacks rude back-to-back
days. All it's just 14 years old.
This sport is in very good hands for anyone who may be
wondering
transition transition our coverage back to Humana
Championship Court.
If you want all of the access that you could ever want to
our pro courts
here on the Karvani PPA Tour.
Make sure you get the pickleball TV app or on YouTube TV.
Amazon Prime
as case in Campbell
ties things up at four and
you got to say Greg you mentioned in the second game.
It was important for case and not to get blown out in game
two. If he was going to lose.
He got nine almost came back.
We're seeing that
really keeping things even here in game three as well.
The momentum is not shifted too much.
No, absolutely.
I mean case in again.
He could have brought you down 8-3 in a second.
You know, it's probably to go three.
You could have thrown in the towel if your case in the
second, but
he doesn't do that.
He almost wins the second game.
So
love the fight that I saw in the second and
we're all tied up here with a I mean that back in
and it was a quick 30 lead for Ashan in this one now 5-4
fever of the 19 year old.
Could we
see another upset?
The men's singles
clean winner somehow stays in from Campbell
and another chance to get to the end switch
with a lead
players will switch ends at 6 here in the deciding game.
So good.
That's so good.
Finds the
angle on the forehand
and just set up by a nasty drip
that forces out starting to hit a lower volley has hit up in
the ball
and then case with the easier forehand
and we've been seeing case in Campbell having some success
success, excuse me,
with kind of multiple ball passes right now really going
for the pass on the first shot, but really using that ball to
get into an advantageous position in the rally.
But unable to convert their
chance for Alshon
Ollie saves the point and Sean's within one
miss return ties us up at seven.
It's something we haven't really seen from either player
saw a few at the end for Christian Alshon and now
the ends in sight you start
seeing some nerves
and you get a miss.
Yeah, miss serve as well or miss return.
But yeah,
I know it's been a really clean match for both players.
Like you said, it's it's not
haven't seen a lot of quick points and a lot of miss serves
or returns.
Everyone's
making each other play
the 8-7 lead looking to close this one out.
And miss return and
if you go back to before the timeout,
we saw a missed
serve from Christian Alshon straight into a missed return
two points away from the victory
is the number 14 seed.
Too much pace on that return from Alshon.
It was
high.
Looks like Campbell maybe wanted it a little too much.
Yep.
Just don't see.
I mean the last
four or five points Christian made
so many
easy mistakes for him.
Kacen's got to close it out now before Christian wakes up.
Goes back to the drop volley in a time of need pays off an
Christian Alshon, but Kacen Campbell's
yes,
he can win the match.
Kacen Campbell
takes down the number three seed Christian Alshon a three-game
thriller back and forth high-octane all of the adjectives
you can think of to describe this match
and some massive upsets.
We have seen so far today in men's singles.
We'll talk with Kacen Campbell out of the break.
Greg final thoughts on this one.
Kacen.
I mean, what a performance for you.
This match was back and forth high energy.
A lot of insane ball striking.
What in your mind was the difference for you at the end
to get this one done?
Yeah,
my voice.
First of all, my voice is bad.
So I hope everybody can hear me.
I didn't have too much thoughts going into it.
I'm sick a little bit.
So that's kind of
in a way my focus that takes my mind off the match.
So I was just,
you know, taking my time between points and just trying to
fight
more than anything.
Kacen, you fought so well out there.
So proud of you, man.
I mean, I was nervous up here watching you at the end.
Were you?
I mean, how nervous were you on a scale of 1 to 10 when it's
like 9-7?
You're like, oh my gosh.
I'm going to beat Christian Alshon right now.
How nervous were you, man?
Yeah, I've had my I'm sure everybody does.
Everybody has their fair share of
not being able to close out matches.
So
just taking, like I said, taking my time between points,
just letting my mind reset and try not to think about the
score too much.
