Hi guys! In my previous video I taught you how to find the beat and how to stay on beat,
how to match different movements to it. In today's video we'll start to build your coordination by
adding different layers to the footwork that we did previously. If you haven't practiced your
rhythm yet with my video, make sure to grab it. I'm going to post the link in the description.
As you can see my client Sky here's ability to coordinate those different body parts together.
And the key to building your coordination is to challenge it gradually. Learn one layer,
one body part at a time. That's a sure way to success. In my last video we worked on footwork,
we were able to move the feet to the beat. Today we'll just add one more layer to those movements,
so I want you to follow along and let's see, let's test how good your coordination is.
All right, let's start with the first move, which was the heel up. So just move the heel,
find the snare. Once you have it, let's just lift the shoulder, same shoulder as the heel.
This is our second layer. Don't worry if it doesn't look good, it's not supposed to.
We're just trying to get those movements out so that we build the coordination. Next step,
just change the feet, heel in. Once you have it, add a little bit of a twist side to side,
so face the side and switch. Next step forward, touch the foot in the front.
Once you have that, torso down. It doesn't matter which way really.
Some of those combinations you'll notice they're more difficult than others and that's okay.
Next step, out to the side and this time I want to add the arm. Let's bring the arm down,
same arm, same foot, just like a little soft punch or arm roll. Okay, next we're going to reset,
just bend the knees on the snare. Then I want to see if we can add another shoulder movement.
We'll roll the shoulder back. Notice that my shoulder goes up when my legs are straight
and then it rotates to the back as I'm bending the knees. So everything is aligned, let's try it.
Next step, let's do our two step and with this one, this one is pretty easy, so let's add the
torso right away. Lean forward, just bending from your waist. You can do a little bit of an angle,
but that's our layer number two. And last step, we're going to do the foundation first,
so bringing the heel in at the end and you go open, close, open, close. Make sure you have
the footwork before adding the upper body and we'll keep it simple for this one. Twist towards
the heel that you're bringing in at the very same time. Awesome and now quickly do all of
those movements without talking so you can actually focus on hearing the beat clearly.
Let's go from the top. All right, how did you do guys? Like how many out of those seven
combinations were you able to do? If you did like around five, that's a sign that your coordination
is actually pretty good. So I'm curious to see, let me know in the comments. And remember,
this is something that you have to practice. You're not going to do just one video following
me along and being able to match everything effortlessly. Use it as an exercise, do it as
many times as you can. This will build your coordination. It's a great start. And if let's
say this was too much and you struggled with staying on beat, be sure to go back to my previous
video. I'm going to link it below where we match just one layer to the beat. It would be so much
easier to dance. You have to first know how to move just the footwork before you start adding
those different body parts. OK, so make sure you practice with my previous video as well.
And as a reminder, guys, I do take people who can barely move one or two things at a time
and turn them into skilled and confident social dancers who look interesting on the dance floor,
who can enjoy dancing in front of other people and with other people. So if you struggle with
this and you would like to change it, you'd like to have a great dance transformation.
Underneath this video, you'll find the link to a free one on one strategy call with me. Book it
and let's get you dancing. Let's see what we can fix. Let's see if we can work together
inside my online program, Confidence Through Dance. And that's it for me, guys. Let me know
if this video was helpful. It was a different style, more follow along, more action than just
me talking. So I hope you guys learned something and I will see you in my tutorial, in my next
tutorial very, very soon. Bye, guys.
