Good morning guys, hello and welcome back to a new video.
This is a very kind of last minute unplanned video
because I was due to have a video go live today
for you guys, as in like by the time you're watching this.
And things, you know, like random things
and issues come up and things arise
where sometimes if I've got pre-recorded stuff,
I'm like brilliant, I've got a video I can post anyway
and I'm not missing upload.
Today I really didn't have a backup option,
so I just thought, you know what, it's very last minute
but I'm just going to pick up the camera anyway.
It's probably going to be a shorter vlog than usual
but I thought knowing my favorite YouTubers,
if this was them in this position,
I would rather something than nothing
and I very nearly just did nothing,
which I know you guys would be okay with anyway,
just like a non-upload, but I just can't miss an upload.
If I can prevent it.
So it does mean that it's probably,
I don't know how interesting this video is going to be,
but anyway, we have a day today.
I've got, I'm just looking at this pile of washing
that needs to be put away, I've just carried that upstairs.
What do I need to get?
I'm going to start the morning with a little dog walk.
Tom has just set off for cricket today.
Cricket season is upon us, so cricket wags out there.
I feel ya.
Although to be fair, cricket widows we want to say,
not cricket wags, cricket widows.
He is playing a bit further away today,
it's towards Liverpool and it's intermittent, the weather.
So I thought rather than risking it, I thought,
you know what, you go, you enjoy,
I'll see you later when you get back home,
which is honestly what I say most cricket day now.
If I do go and watch, I'll tend to watch a bit
of the first half and then come back,
but he always has to get there early,
so it's not like we can travel together.
See, I told you this was going to be boring content.
So maybe just have me on in the background today
of other tasks that you need to get done,
because I'm just a voice in the background, I think,
for today.
Right, plan for this morning, yeah,
I'm going to go to walk Barney,
and because it is a weekend,
it is our little routine to do,
we quite like to do a walk along the canal.
So I think that's where I might take him,
although no swimming today,
because he has got a little hot spot,
which he's been prone to, and it's very, very small,
so I want to catch it early,
and I just feel like they grow if they end up getting wet.
And he's also itching a lot.
Any other dogs out there really itching at the minute?
I don't know if it's allergies,
or if he's swum somewhere,
he's up to date with his flea treatment,
and I have checked, and that's fine,
and the vet just said they recommended
a specific shampoo for him,
so that's arriving today.
So tomorrow, probably, Tom and I
will give him a little bath in the dog wash with that,
and hopefully it works, because bless him,
he seems to be doing a lot of itching.
But anyway, no swimming today.
We will do a canal walk anyway,
and grab a coffee, maybe grab some food.
I want to do a bit of a food shop for tomorrow.
We've got, Tom's set on doing a pasta dish,
like a slow-cooked beef pasta,
so I'll show you the ingredients that we do for that,
that we need for that,
and any other bits and bobs that we get
whilst we're out and about,
but otherwise, it's just a chilled one for us today,
and I'm actually really looking forward to it.
A day of not doing too much,
just relaxing and taking you guys with me.
I don't know how I'm on this mailing list,
but I've recently been getting a couple of magazines
from this brand, RH Interiors,
and they've sent two of their brochures.
So, like, how gorgeous is this,
for aesthetics and for a bit of inspo.
So I've actually just kept these out
for me to have a bit of a flick through.
Oh, how beautiful is this aesthetic?
Who says neutrals and beige tones are not inspiring?
Because that, to me, brings me so much joy,
that kind of interior.
Anyway, we've got that,
and then they've also sent this,
which is a bit more summer-appropriate,
their outdoor furniture range.
It looks quite high-end.
Yeah, like I said, I have no idea
how I got on the mailing list for this company.
21 grand, yeah.
Okay, this is definitely an inspo catalogue.
There's some beautiful imagery,
and they're quite thick brochures,
so if you can also join this mailing list,
because that would easily,
I'd have that, like, sat out on display or something.
Find, like, a nice image and have it left open.
Anyway, let's go for a dog walk.
I'm going to go for walkies.
It's a little muddy, a little wet, a little windy,
but still, nothing beats fresh air,
morning walk, morning coffee.
Whilst we're out and about,
there's also actually a couple of little charity shops
and a homeware shop that's really nice
called Homebird that I might pop into.
And then for food shop today,
do we do M&S or Waitrose?
As it's a small little shop and a one-off,
and we want to get quality produce.
That is one thing that I have noticed, actually.
We get chicken in the bags all the time.
That's, like, a regular meal that we have.
We really rate the M&S,
and they have, like, the better welfare, I don't know,
the meats and everything,
and I just think their quality is really good.
So, yeah, M&S for the win, for the meats.
Although I might even go to the butcher's today,
so we'll see.
So heading into the charity shops,
one thing I always look out for initially is books.
I'm just always on the hunt for, like,
books and older books, cooking books.
You just never know what you're going to find.
So, and also quite affordable as well.
Like, this table was just kind of make a donation.
This is in Oxfam, and I already own this book,
but how beautiful is the cover?
If I hadn't already owned it, I would have picked it up.
They priced it 6.99.
I think I got mine cheaper than that.
I can't remember, but I found mine in an antique bookshop.
But this is Oxfam.
I always think Oxfam's really great for books.
They always have such a big selection
if you're after just books from the charity shops.
That is one place I'd recommend.
Also, we love this little kind of, like, garlic pot.
Didn't look too old, though.
These little candlesticks or vases, I wasn't quite sure.
Little soup-matching bowls, that.
But otherwise, yeah, just had a quick browse.
I've seen this in here before.
I think this is also still Oxfam.
But anyway, on to Homebird,
which is a gorgeous little interior shop.
They've got quite a few around the Northwest.
So I always pop in as and when I'm near one
for a bit of inspiration.
They've got lots of spring, summer styling bits out,
even some sale bits.
I love this vintage coffee table.
That was 100 pounds off, so quite a good saving.
And these little scalloped trays, little marble dishes,
they've got the soap dishes, they add it in a heart as well.
I also really liked this gingham bow,
which they've used as table place settings,
which I think is a really nice idea.
And the little silver container there
with the oils and salt and peppers,
I thought was really handy, too.
But anyway, that's Homebird, if you want to check it out.
Just at Waitrose, they've got some, like,
potted hydrangeas that are already starting to bloom.
I wonder what colour these are, it doesn't say.
I'm assuming it'll just be, like, white or green,
given the look of these.
They've also got some little mini olive trees, very cute.
I'm excited for the garden to look all pretty for summer.
They've got some cute little orange trees
back there as well, can you see?
I've just discovered this range that's new in.
They call it the curate bobbin.
They've got cereal bowl side plates, server plates,
and then, well, those ones are, like, kind of hammered effect.
These ones look, yeah, these ones are more smooth,
so they've got a smooth one as well.
Also, how aesthetic is this brand, The Retreat?
They do loads of different products,
but even, like, little hand-washing cream,
hand cream next to each other, I think they look so nice.
They've got this kind of more Italian-style one as well.
And they've currently got their Sunday range on sale,
which, Riley, do you see this in the sale?
Birthday cake edition, sounds good.
I didn't realise that they did aspirin weight trays as well.
This is a fab little set.
It's got all of the bath and oils in.
That, in fact, is a lovely gift idea
for only £35, pretty reasonable, too,
because, obviously, the oils, a little bit
goes a really long way.
He's always just happily sat in the boot of this car,
not bothered for getting out.
Are you comfy?
Should we go inside?
Come on.
Come on, let's go.
Barney, come on.
Out you get.
You coming out?
You want me to lift you?
Get your lead.
Good boy.
We're having our front steps redone at the minute,
but look at these bluebells.
They're in full bloom,
and these, I swear, could survive an apocalypse.
They have survived so much of the digging up and moving,
but every year, they come back,
just a little cluster of them here,
and then we have another little cluster over here.
Excuse all the weeds.
We have got a hydrangea plant over here,
which is flower, well, like, there's some leaves,
but it's not really flowering,
but I guess it's still alive.
Yeah, look at the bluebells, so pretty.
All right, I'm going to fill you in.
I'm going to take some of those coats down.
Let's do it, Barney.
Back of that door is overloading with coats.
Well, really, we should only have one each.
I'm guessing this is the shampoo and conditioner
that the vet recommended.
That's the brand.
If any of your dogs struggle as well,
and then I've got, oh no, they've sent the wrong thing.
I ordered the soothing shampoo and the mousse combo,
which is like a mousse that you can leave on
if you don't want to give them a full wash.
However, they've sent the wipes instead, which is fine.
I can use the pads, but I wanted the mousse.
That's specifically what the vet suggested,
is to do the shampoo and then use the mousse.
Oh, well, nevermind.
That's just more of an inconvenience than anything else,
but all right, Gail, we've got a sourdough slice,
and I said to Tom this morning,
what I'm going to do with this is freeze it straight away
so it's frozen fresh,
because what we tend to do with our sourdough
is we will keep it out, toast it anyway with eggs and stuff.
Well, that's usually what we have it with, with eggs,
and then it kind of starts to go still
when it's fresh sourdough after like a day or two,
and then we end up thinning some of it.
So rather than waste it or freeze it after a few days
where it's not so fresh anymore,
I'm going to freeze it straight away
so that we've constantly got in there sliced fresh sourdough
that has been frozen
that can easily just go straight in the toaster.
And then I also did treat myself to a little weekend cake,
and I went for the crumble, pecan crumble, they call it.
If you've had it from Gail's, you'll know.
So delicious.
Oh, I also grabbed a apple and blackcurrant overnight oats.
I'm just going to pop that straight in the fridge
and have that as my breakfast.
I always have the same breakfast,
but it's always nice just to switch it up
and treat yourself to something different.
The butchers, I got two lots of eggs,
and then we've got Jacob's ladder, it's called,
two short ribs.
So they will be slow cooked over hours tomorrow.
Tom will probably put that in first thing in the morning,
and then we'll have it at like 4 p.m. or something like that.
So maybe a bit earlier,
but that is the base of our pasta dish.
And then the actual pasta that we use,
we've got a fresh pappardelle.
For these like ready done for during the week pastas,
this one, probably more so for me,
asparagus, pea, and mozzarella ravioli.
Sounded good.
This will go in with the beef, celery, onions,
garlic, and carrots.
And then for myself, for a dinner,
I've got some like healthy dinner, salmon and broccoli.
It's got some spinach.
Love this cottage cheese.
It's probably my favorite one I've ever found,
the All Things Cottage Cheese.
They are quite big though, and again,
I don't tend to get through them before it says,
throw them out.
Okay, so I am particular with dates.
I think it's the emetophobe in me,
the fear of getting sick,
that if a date is on a packet,
I take that as gospel,
which I feel like is really unhealthy habit to do,
but I just, I just do.
And this one is once opened, used within three days.
So I try to do that,
but if it gets to like four or five days,
I'm like, and then Tom will have it,
because he doesn't care and he's always fine.
So I should take note of that.
The one thing I don't swear by with that rule
is condiments, things like ketchup.
That always is like once opened, used within four weeks.
We never use it up within four weeks,
and I would still have that.
So cucumber for dipping in, hummus,
lemons for our fruit bowl in the middle of the island.
And we like to just use them for recipes,
but also in fact, pasta dishes are really nice.
Salmon and broccoli.
We always put lemon in the broccoli that we do.
Some avocados.
I like these ones that the waitress does,
because you've got one that's ready now
and one that enjoy later, ripen at home.
Couple of peppermint tea.
I go through that so quickly.
This is my standard breakfast
or our standard breakfast in this household.
We do frozen berries,
heat them up in the microwave for a minute,
and that kind of acts as a bit of a compote.
Then we put in a scoop of yogurt, chia seeds,
some nuts, cinnamon, drizzle of honey,
granola if I'm feeling an extra sweet hit.
And I also got this grated cheese mix
with the cheddar and mozzarella.
I like these as drinks,
the Freya beef broth and chicken broth.
I prefer the sachets that they do that you add hot water to,
but I couldn't see any of those.
So I got those ones.
And then they do these now as well,
which are just for cooking rather than to have as a drink,
which is like, what's the difference?
I don't understand.
I don't know.
But anyway, beef broth we'll use for that recipe,
for the pasta recipe.
And then I also just grabbed the chicken broth as well.
But again, another recipe that we do.
These monster.
When I see sweet potatoes this big,
I grab them because I feel like
the packets of sweet potatoes,
they're always so small that when I see them like this,
these are perfect.
Because I will have like one of these
as like a jacket potato,
but with like tuna, cheese, whatever.
And I love sweet potato.
I saw a recipe on TikTok the other day
that I really want to give a go at some point.
They cooked a sweet potato,
mashed up all the inside and used the mash,
added flour to it and kind of pan fried it.
And it looked like a wrap.
And then obviously you can put
whatever you want in there, tzatziki.
I think the one I saw,
they had grilled halloumi, hot honey,
and it just looked so delicious.
But as a kind of like wrap pancake style base.
And it's just sweet potato with flour, obviously.
But just sweet potato.
And so I thought I'm going to do that
instead of buying some wraps.
Because I did have some wraps in my trolley
and I was like, no, I'll try the sweet potato ones first.
Also got some cherry tomatoes
and then these baked beans
that from the Bold Bean Company,
the rich tomato ones.
This brand is essentially less processed.
I still don't understand how there's no,
it even says in there, nothing artificial,
but how the date on these is good until 2030.
I don't understand that.
Because literally all the ingredients are
white beans, tomato, onion, carrot, celery,
olive oil, apple cider vinegar.
I guess that gives it a bit of longevity,
but it's fine, it's good for you.
Brown sugar, salt, tamarind, sweet paprika,
garlic powder, and black pepper.
And that is it.
So how is that fine until 2030?
It baffles me.
And then I also got some chickpeas from the same company.
These just come in stock
and you can use these as salad toppers.
That was another thing that I saw
within a sweet potato wrap.
And that is everything.
So that's my little waitrose haul,
waitrose come shop with me vlog.
I need to pop all this away now.
I actually have to have an editing afternoon,
which is not so fun for you to watch.
And what else am I gonna do today?
Probably just relax.
I want to catch up on some,
what I like to call trash TV,
bit of reality TV, got some maths to watch,
got some I'm a Celeb to watch.
I want to watch The Housemaid again.
That's been uploaded that I've seen.
So I like to see it in the cinema
and I saw a clip of it on Gogglebox
and I was like, it made me want to watch that again.
So I might even pop that in in the background
whilst I do some editing,
but that is me for the rest of the afternoon.
A relaxed one.
I hope you guys have a relaxing day yourselves
or an enjoyable day at least,
no matter what it is that you are doing.
Thank you so much for watching this video.
Sorry, it was a bit of a short one.
I hope you've enjoyed it nonetheless.
