The Elevated Camp House is a lakeside retreat designed by Murdough Design Architects, blending modern architecture with nature. The project consists of a 2,733 square-foot residence and a 382 square-foot guest cabin, connected by an elevated boardwalk. The house is built on the footprint of a previous cabin, minimizing environmental impact and preserving the surrounding forest and landscape. The design features private and semi-private spaces organized around a central family room with panoramic lake views. Natural materials like grey siding, concrete, and steel blend into the forested environment, while large windows and elevated walkways create a strong connection between the interiors and the surrounding nature. Sustainable design strategies include passive cooling, radiant heating, and landscape conservation without irrigation. The result is a peaceful, intimate home that allows the family to enjoy the beauty of their natural surroundings year-round.
