Hi, I'm Anne. Nice to meet you.
Yep, that's me. You're probably wondering how I ended up in this situation.
Hi, I'm Anne. Nice to meet you.
Sorry, sorry.
Mabuhay! I'm Anne Curtis from the Philippines.
Mabuhay!
So, 20 years ago, this film really inspired a whole generation to fall in love with fashion, including myself.
So, how does it feel that these people now have decided to pursue their dreams and join the fashion industry?
Well, it's been a journey. The world has changed.
iPhone has been invented. The year after we came out, the world of journalism, the world of television, everything has changed.
And our film talks about how that has an impact on fashion.
This is the exact generation who, the moment the trailer came out, they were so excited.
Isn't that incredible? Just to hear you talk about it.
The idea that it made you see a version of yourself out there in the world.
It's incredible. I don't think any of us quite under, I mean, we definitely couldn't have understood the impact that it would have.
And the way the audiences would just turn it into something that was much bigger than we ever could have dared hope.
We all have our fashion icons. Do you have any personal fashion icons yourself?
I love Joan of Arc, in terms of what she was able to say with who she was.
I like Diane Keaton's style.
She had some real flair and joy in putting together an outfit every morning.
I just love Zendaya. Everything she does, I feel like she never puts her wrong foot forward.
She always looks so glamorous, but it always feels so personal.
And her relationship with law is so beautiful and inspiring.
If Miranda Fraser had a social media account, whether TikTok or Instagram, what kind of content do you think she would have on it?
I love this question.
Well, she would have someone do that for her.
I'm just trying to imagine Miranda trying to do a cooking video.
Miss Anne, what would your advice be for the next generation of Andy Saxes who are going to watch this movie?
And how would they stay true to herself?
It's so funny because I came up during a time when I had no interest in fitting in.
But I didn't have that kind of pressure coming at me.
And the other thing I want to say that I would love to be able to give myself back then is,
that time in your life, people are looking at you and it's so big.
And when those feelings come, it's always so much better to just make it about other people.
If yours are starting to feel overwhelming, ask somebody else about theirs.
Actually, yeah. I wish I heard that before walking into this room.
We're very honored by it, by the way.
I was very, very lucky to see the very first 20 minutes of the film.
It dives straight into the digital culture, where one character experiences cancel culture.
In a world where power can be taken away overnight,
what does true influence really mean to the world we live in?
What we're learning about our digital devices,
the assessment it makes, it is all very ephemeral.
And so you're canceled one day, and everybody's moved on.
You know, 200 swipes further.
I'm so lucky that I didn't have nothing but a mirror to show me what I didn't like about myself.
My mother always said, you are what you do, what you do.
You are allowed to turn your phone off, walk away from it, and go for a walk.
The digital world is confusing, and it's a lot.
And it's something you bought into.
Okay, I'm on to my last question.
If there was an album or a song that you had for Miranda or for Andy, for yourself, what would it be?
There was this Italian song that I was very, very into called The Sundolore.
Okay, yes.
It means like, no pain ever.
It would be by Donna Summer.
We'll share.
I know that Miranda is a Cher fan.
So much.
It was such an honor speaking to the both of you and hearing all of the words of wisdom.
I'm sure it's everything you've ever known in TV.
Thank you so much. We're so excited to watch The Sundolore.
Thank you. Hope you enjoy it.
Thank you.
