A House That Breathes With the Forest | Hidden Harmony in Mexico’s Hills | Mague House

Mague House, designed by Mauricio Ceballos X Architects, is a 270-square-meter residence nestled in the hillside landscape of Malinalco, where architecture is carefully integrated with its natural and cultural surroundings. The design draws inspiration from Mesoamerican cosmology, organizing the house into layered elements that reflect the relationship between earth, human life, and the tree canopy above. Built around existing vegetation, the home creates a fluid spatial experience that blurs the boundary between interior and exterior, while using local materials like wood, stone, and Chukum plaster to reinforce its connection to place. Combined with sustainable strategies such as rainwater collection and low-impact construction, the house becomes a quiet, contextual response to both its environment and historical setting.
