Today, we travel through time,
digging deep, moving boulders,
and run material through our high bank here
to discover what the Gold Rush missed.
Hi!
Now, for the first time ever, I'm doing this solo.
I don't have my friend Sal with me
to tell me if I've forgotten anything
or if I'm doing anything wrong,
so I kinda don't know what to expect.
We're at the gas station right now
to fill this thing up so the high banker can run.
Now, I think I got everything.
I got the motor, I got the shovel,
I got the pump, my bag, shovel.
Yeah, I don't know, I think we're good.
But once we get all the way down to the river
and we want to run, then we'll actually find out
if I'm missing anything.
So now, we leave town and head into the bush.
I don't normally film too much of this part,
but I figured some behind the scenes doesn't hurt.
♪ I hustle and motivate, follow me, I know the way. ♪
♪ Ride hard on the merry night and day. ♪
So I might have to make two trips down.
I don't think I can carry all this in one go,
but I'm gonna try.
I think I got it.
So the main reason why I'm solo today
is because, yes, Sile can't make it,
but that was because I asked him this morning.
I find it really selfish of him not to consider me
and stay up all night waiting for my message,
for the invitation for me to.
We is here.
Now, if you've seen my high banking videos before,
you'll know that 99% of the time I work here,
and that's because the gold here is actually really good
and fairly consistent.
Over the years, Sile and I have both found fine gold,
nuggets, and just had a good time.
So this is where I like to go,
and this is where we'll find gold today.
Now the river looks a little bit different
since I was here last.
We had a big flood and most of the rocks that were up there
came rolling through here.
So now our bedrock over here is covered, but that's okay.
I've shot a video there, there, there,
and I think up there.
So today, since all this has been worked before,
I'm gonna work somewhere right here
and try to get down to bedrock
where we know the good gold is.
But the first thing I gotta do is set up the high banker
because Sile's not here to do it for me,
so I'm gonna have to do it.
Oh, thank God I brought the mats.
Okay, so before we run material,
I just gotta make sure everything is hooked up nice,
and I gotta make sure everything works on the pump.
I just tested it, so I know it works,
but the real test is to make sure the water
can go all the way up to the high banker.
No water yet.
Come on, baby, suck up water.
There we go.
Oh, oh.
Oh, it's getting happy.
It's like a little worm.
A worm full of water.
It's kinkied.
No kinkied.
I think I'm gonna have to move the high banker more over
so that I have less kinkies.
So we do have water, but that's nowhere near enough water.
So I'm probably gonna have to turn it up over there,
but let me just, let me do that first.
Okay, I have it running.
Everything's nice and straight.
Well, the sluices aren't really staying in properly,
but this will have to do.
All right, so now that everything is running about 90, 60%,
the next thing we gotta do is build a pile of material
to run through the high banker.
I'm just gonna have to move all the big rock out of the way,
then use the pickaxe to loosen up all the material
and shovel that juicy pay dirt into buckets,
make a big pile.
I forgot the tarp,
so I'm just gonna have to pile it on the gravel.
And then we can fire up
the super duper special purple high banker again
and start finding gold.
Now the real work begins.
Step one, move rock.
Step two, hit rock.
Step three, put rocks in.
I found a worm.
Step three, put rocks in bucket.
Step four, repeat.
Two buckets down.
Unfortunately, I found more buckets stashed nearby,
which means moving dirt will be more convenient.
I've done six buckets now.
This is taking forever.
I decided to save time and battery on my cameras
and just hustle a pile together
so we can hurry up and start running dirt.
So I know this doesn't look like much,
but this is 15 buckets.
I wanted to do 30,
but let's just run this, see what we get,
and then we'll do either another run with 30 buckets
or two more separate 15s.
Wakey, wakey.
Shovel number one.
That's way too steep.
Now, when you shove dirt in here,
you wanna make sure you're breaking up the dirt good
so that any gold inside has an opportunity
to get washed down into the sluice.
Any gold that makes it this far
will almost always get caught in the ripples
because it's so heavy.
Now, you do this for about 4,000 hours every minute,
so it could take a long time.
I don't see any gold yet.
This is taking a long time,
even though it's pretty straightforward.
I just have to shovel into the purple high banker.
All right, so there really isn't anything interesting
or rather creative I could shoot while doing this.
It's basically the same shot over and over again,
but let me know in the comments
if you enjoy these ASMR-style videos.
So not a lot more to go.
Well, I just noticed there's a little space right here
in between the high banker and the grizzly bars,
and if you look closely,
you can see our first piece of gold.
We didn't get skunked.
So I just carried on carrying on,
and before I knew it, the sun started showing up
and we were done our first run.
All right, so 15 buckets done, or maybe like 14.
There's still some material down here
that I didn't really scoop up yet, but that's okay.
We'll run it on the next run,
but for now, I'm just gonna let...
Stay over here.
I'm just gonna let this thing run for a few minutes,
let everything kind of clean itself,
and then we're gonna turn off the pump, see what we got.
Moment of truth.
Oh, there we go.
So all this material is from that gooey stuff
and not on bedrock yet, so this is just surface stuff.
So there's a piece of gold right at the edge there,
one right there.
I don't see any big nuggets, but that's okay.
We do have gold, so we're not skunked.
Now let's put this in the bucket and pan it all out.
Something I really like about these high bankers,
they're so easy to clean out.
Look right there, there's that chunky piece,
probably about 10 ounces.
Now it's super important you don't get your boots wet
because when they get wet, you'll start to get cold.
So this isn't the gold pan I normally like to use,
so if we don't find 2,000 ounces in this,
it's because of the gold pan.
We got some gold showing up right on that edge there, baby.
Yeah, a lot more gold showing up right here.
We even have a piece of lead.
Okay, let's reveal this together.
I'm not sure how it's gonna look on the GoPro,
but I'll give you a closeup with my phone after.
Yes.
Oh, that always looks so good
when you're panning through the black sand.
That is awesome.
We got a wire piece right there.
We got a wire piece of lead.
That's killer.
And this isn't on the bedrock yet,
so this is that clay yummy yum goodness stuff.
I'm really curious to see what's under those boulders now.
I am actually pretty thrilled with that.
I've been making a sniping video recently
and it's been like, I'm on day six looking for gold,
so this is actually nice to see.
Now what's impressive is that I'm not really on bedrock,
well, this is bedrock, this is bedrock,
so I'm working with the bedrock,
which is kind of probably where most of this gold came from,
but the majority of the material is this hard, sticky stuff
and I'm kind of saving the next run
for breaking up the, like this,
breaking up the bedrock and working in there.
I want to work under that boulder
and I kind of go towards here.
Probably on the next high banking video,
I'll try to move that boulder, probably not gonna happen,
but I'd imagine it's just loaded all through here.
I tell you, sometimes gold mining kind of pisses me off.
I mean, like anything, but Kyle and I
have spent so much time here in the past
making the biggest pile of pay dirt
to run to that high banker
and sometimes we'll get out with like one gram,
sometimes we'll get three grams
and I'm out here by myself today
and I think this is actually pretty competitive.
Now, gold always looks better in the pan with black sand,
so if we can actually get this sort of color
on the next run, it'd be like if Kyle was here working,
but he's not, it's just me.
Anyways, I think I'm gonna eat some food
and then we're gonna do another run,
but try to do at least 30 buckets
because if we're finding gold like that,
by the end of the day,
I might be able to afford another coffee.
I don't drink coffee.
I think it's obvious.
I really don't wanna be digging right now,
but I have no choice.
So I am working so hard to move that big boulder
and these big wedge piece of rock down there
and also I noticed this chunk of bedrock is getting loose,
so the gold here on bedrock is pretty good.
So what I think I'm gonna do is once I'm on bedrock,
I'm gonna put that into a bucket
and then because we don't have a tarp
and we could lose gold not having a tarp,
I'm gonna put that on the top of the pile
so it's the first thing that we're gonna run
on the next run.
I'm tempted to even just do a test pan of this stuff,
but there's not a lot of time
when you're doing this yourself.
I still have 30 buckets to do and I haven't done any yet.
So I've exposed the stupid rock,
but I can't freaking move it.
I don't know what to do, man.
I need to high bank this area,
but this rock is so heavy.
It's a really awkward shape too,
so I just can't grab it.
Oh my God.
That's the best I'm gonna do.
I'll just dig around it.
So I moved the stupid rock out of the way.
I'm just gonna dig around it.
Here we have a wild Pauly digging away,
searching for that sweet, sweet nectar.
So I just did four buckets.
Let me get back to you in like half an hour to an hour
when I have about 15 or more.
So it has been easily over an hour.
It's been really hard digging.
There's so much jagged bedrock here
that it's really hard to get the shovel in there.
And with all the water that's made its way in here,
it's really hard to get all the material out.
But with that being said,
right now I have another pile of 15 buckets.
So the exact same amount as we did on the first run,
but I'm closer to the bedrock
and I've actually dug into the bedrock.
So hopefully there'll be more gold in this one.
Now I know I said I'd do 30 buckets,
but I'm gonna do 15.
So 30 by the end of the day, you know what?
I'm gonna do two extra.
17 buckets.
Let's see how much gold we can get.
But wait.
It's alive.
I was worried for a second.
Boy, it's over.
For this run, I was sort of focusing more
on just getting it done rather than filming stupid ----.
Well, you heard the man.
For this run, I'm focusing more on getting the work done
than filming unproductive stuff.
This is slow going, guys.
I don't think I'm ever gonna high bank again by myself.
So I'm taking smaller scoops to really make sure
the material that I run through here gets washed nice.
Because we're dealing with more bedrock,
I do not want to risk losing any bigger pieces
that might be hiding in our dirt.
Easy gold, baby.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
I think right there, I don't know.
I saw it a second ago.
There's more gold in that line,
which means that we could be finding gold.
So fast forward about 20 minutes.
We were finally done.
I'm done.
Yes, there's still a little bit of material
still right there, but I can do that next time.
I'm done.
Just like the first run,
I'm gonna let this run for a little bit.
Hydration.
That was a ton of digging.
Way harder than having,
it's harder when you don't have anyone to help you.
Okay, let's see what we're looking at.
Ooh, I do see a piece right there, right off the bat.
I really do like these mats.
All the gold's always right up top here,
not normally down there.
Just have a little feel here.
See if there's anything else.
Yeah, I see a little bit of shiny.
Oh, there's another one right there.
This last mat wanted to fall off.
It was like, oh yeah,
look at all the material under there.
Check this out.
Jammed under that top mat there was this guy.
Oh yeah, that looks like our biggest piece today.
Nice little picker.
In the bucket you go.
Oh, I just saw another nice little guy.
I have a good feeling about this one.
I think we're gonna have just about the same amount of gold
as the last one, but cleaning up there,
I did see two bigger bits, so I really do like this spot.
If I was allowed to have an excavating operation here
with a big old wash plant, I would.
Look at that piece of gold.
I'm pretty sure that was one of the ones
that rolled down when I was rinsing it.
There we go, much better.
I'm gonna reveal this on my phone
because I can show you closer
and it's gonna be better quality.
Let me introduce you to pan number two.
Yes, that is pretty good.
Now, honestly, I can't tell if that's better
than the first round or not.
We definitely have bigger pieces,
but that almost looks like the same amount of color.
But I'm gonna go dump out the other gold,
put it in here and see what that looks like.
There, how's that for a day's worth of high banking?
We even found lots of lead,
which means that we're cleaning the river
and we are good people.
Now, just for context, that's where we were.
This is what we found.
Hard to believe that nature's jewelry
is just sitting in dirt like this.
So I'm gonna stop talking now.
I'm gonna suck up the gold.
I'm gonna have the, oh, I'm out of water.
So yeah, I'm gonna pack everything up.
We're gonna hike out of this hill,
drive all the way back down to my new house.
We're gonna dry the gold and weigh it
and see how much we found.
So it's the very next day
and I gotta say, it feels good to be back.
Now, I'll weigh the gold in a second,
but I just wanted to announce
that I finally have a new blue room,
even though it's not blue yet.
All the other pioneer rooms that I've had in the past
have been blue.
So once these walls get painted, it will be official.
I'll just have to decorate a little bit more after.
So here is them thar loot we found for the day.
A lot of nice looking pieces in here.
I don't see anything with quartz,
but still, high banking definitely paid off today.
We found a bunch of big pieces of black sand or iron stone,
which is a good sign for when you're looking
for heavy spots to find gold.
Out of all the pieces in here,
my favorite piece is probably this longer guy
because it reminds me of the shape of a Lamborghini Gallardo.
I was also able to recover a lot of fine gold
in that black sand.
Oops.
Moment of tooth.
10 ounces, 1.64 grams.
That's not bad.
That's around $360 Canadian or 260 American.
Now, because this isn't just fine gold in here,
you could expect to sell that for a premium.
