Windows has a lot of great apps,
but the more you use it, especially Windows 11,
the more hidden gems you start discovering.
So today I'm gonna show you 10 Windows apps
that are absolutely worth installing on your PC.
Some of these will improve productivity.
Some will make Windows easier to use.
And a few of them completely replace built-in tools.
Let's get started.
One, auto dark mode.
Everyone knows Windows has a dark mode,
but strangely, Microsoft still hasn't added
a simple feature to automatically switch
between light mode and dark mode.
That's exactly what auto dark mode fixes.
This app lets Windows automatically change themes
based on time of day or sunset.
You also get extra controls like
hotkeys for instant switching,
integration with nightlight,
battery mode settings,
and the ability to enable dark mode for apps only,
Windows only, or both.
If you use dark mode regularly,
this is honestly a must-have Windows app.
Two, Everything plus Flow Launcher.
Next we have Everything Search.
Now, Windows Search has improved a lot since Windows 10,
but it's still not perfect.
Everything Search is famous for being extremely fast.
It can find files instantly,
even if they're buried deep inside folders.
The only problem?
It looks a little outdated.
That's where Flow Launcher comes in.
Flow Launcher gives Windows a spotlight-style search bar
similar to macOS,
and the best part is that it supports plugins,
including Everything Search.
So you get lightning-fast file search,
a clean, modern interface,
and powerful extensions.
Together, these two apps create
the perfect Windows Search replacement.
Three, Local Send.
If you regularly transfer files between your phone and PC,
this app is a game-changer.
Local Send works like AirDrop, but for any device.
Just install it on your computer and your phone,
and you can instantly transfer files
over your local network.
The best part?
It's completely free, open-source,
and works with Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iPhone,
and it keeps things simple.
Four, Winerow Tweaker.
Next up is Winerow Tweaker,
one of the most powerful Windows customization tools.
For example, when you open File Explorer,
Windows normally opens the homepage,
but with Winerow Tweaker, you can change it to open
this PC, the Downloads folder,
or even any custom directory,
and that's just the beginning.
This app lets you tweak dozens of Windows settings
that normally aren't available.
Honestly, it has so many features
that it deserves an entire video by itself.
Five, Nilesoft Shell.
If you use Windows 11,
you've probably noticed the new right-click menu,
and for many people, it's pretty annoying,
especially because you constantly have to press
Show More Options.
That's where Nilesoft Shell comes in.
This app restores the classic context menu
while still keeping the Windows 11 style.
It even adds icons and extra customization options.
Quick tip, if you don't want to install anything,
you can also press Shift plus right-click
to open the classic menu.
Six, Dopamine.
Now let's talk about music players.
If you have music stored locally on your computer,
the default Windows music apps honestly aren't great.
Instead, try Dopamine.
It's a modern, lightweight music player
designed for local music libraries.
The interface is clean, easy to navigate,
and the now-playing screen looks fantastic.
If you keep your music in folders on your PC,
Dopamine is easily one of the best players available.
Seven, FX Sound.
Next, we have FX Sound.
This is a powerful audio enhancement tool
that lets you adjust your system audio EQ.
The interface is clean and minimal,
and you can easily customize things like
bass, clarity, volume,
surround sound effects.
What's nice is that FX Sound appears
as a separate audio device in Windows,
so you can quickly switch between the FX Sound profile
and the normal audio output.
If you want even deeper audio control,
you can also try Equalizer APO.
Eight, Arc Browser.
Now let's talk about browsers.
Chrome uses too much RAM.
Edge is, well, Edge.
Safari isn't available on Windows.
So recently I've been testing Arc Browser,
and it's quickly becoming very popular.
Some standout features include vertical tabs,
split window, spaces for organizing different workflows,
a modern interface, strong customization options.
It's also built on Chromium,
so all your Chrome extensions still work.
I'll actually be making a full video
about Arc Browsers soon, so stay tuned for that.
Nine, Sumatra PDF.
Most people open PDFs using their browser,
but there's actually a better option.
Sumatra PDF is a lightweight, dedicated PDF reader.
It's extremely fast, simple, and completely free.
Some useful features include
a history of recently opened PDFs,
quick navigation tools, very low system usage.
It's simple, but it does exactly what it's supposed to do.
10, ShareX.
Finally, we have ShareX.
According to my very scientific research on Reddit,
this is one of the most popular screenshot tools.
And once you try it, it's easy to see why.
ShareX offers deep screenshot customization,
automatic upload options, selection resizing,
smart snapping, and a very useful pixel magnifier.
It's easily one of the most powerful
screenshot tools available on Windows.
So those were 10 amazing Windows apps
you should consider installing.
