Hemlock Ave. House is a private residence designed by Jamie Chioco of Chioco Design, located in East Austin, Texas. Completed in 2019, the house was built after Jamie and his wife decided to replace their 1950s home, which was relocated instead of demolished. The 2000-square-foot house is designed to maximize natural light, openness, and a strong indoor-outdoor connection. Featuring 14-foot-tall corner windows and wooden sliding doors, the home seamlessly blends interior and exterior spaces. The layout consists of two overlapping rectangles, with the main entrance set through a private courtyard for a more intimate approach. The material palette includes warm beige modular brick, Ipe wood screens, Western Red Cedar, ground concrete floors, and White Oak millwork, creating a refined yet natural aesthetic. A covered patio and pool area extend the living space outdoors, enhancing the home’s airy and spacious feel. Through thoughtful planning and high-quality materials, Hemlock Ave. House exemplifies modern, efficient, and sustainable living.
