After accidentally hitting a mysterious drifter named Jack McCloud with her car, Jane Holman brings him and his loyal dog Betty Jane into her home to recover, unaware that their arrival will quietly change her family’s life forever. As Jack slowly bonds with her sons—especially young Tom, who longs for the father he lost to the Korean War—his warmth and wisdom begin to heal wounds no one could see.
