Don Henny showcases a remarkable Hennessy Cognac collection, detailing its origins and growth over 15 years. The video tour highlights rare bottles, limited editions, and various age ranges, from VS to Richard Hennessy. A passionate collector shares insights into each type, including tasting notes and sourcing challenges.
What's up Henny fan? This is your man John Henny.
Today for the first time I'm going to tell you about my history, how I started collecting.
I'll show you my entire collection because for me it's also the first time that I put all my bottles on my table, my other table, my cabinet and so.
So we're going to have a small tour and a talk so that you get to know me and see how big my passion really is for Hennessy.
So for me it all started just in a bar drinking, you know, some of that good VS, everybody loves that VS, you know.
And afterwards I got very interested in cognac, especially in Hennessy.
So I went out searching to local stores where I can find Hennessy because Hennessy is not always easy to find, you all know that.
So afterwards I started drinking some of that fine, some VS or P because they are regular to find.
You know the XO, you can find that easily but the rest is most of the time hard to find.
So I know it ain't always easy but through the years I got so many contacts worldwide so thank you all for that also.
And now I gathered I think it's about 600 bottles but we're going to have a look to everything so you can see what it's all about.
So you all know you got that regular VS and that classic, that special one only released in Asia which in my opinion tastes a bit better than the VS.
So it's kind of sad they did not release this worldwide.
Then we got the fine, you know everybody loves that white if you got that, the Hennessy Black.
The only one I'm not really like to drink pure because it has a special taste in my opinion, that cask taste.
But I really love mixing it with 7up or Sprite or even Coke.
But the rest I always drink straight out of the glass, I never use ice, I never put it in the fridge.
Because I like to enjoy the aroma.
Old bottles like this from the 70's they have an aroma that I don't really find anymore today in the new Hennessy range.
So these are quite unique ones, very good ones and you can find them common.
And it's also in the VSOP range but the age differs a bit from 6 to 25 years so it's the well aged cognac.
Then we got that Single History, that's a special release from people who make the wine, who make the eau de vie.
And Hennessy made one special eau de vie with them.
So that's kind of unique cognacs, three different ones.
Then we got that Kenzo, also released for Asia special.
Has a very nice taste and you know Kenzo is a perfume so it tastes also kind of perfume, smells like a kind of perfume.
Then we got some more XO type ones, more old age ones, minimum 10 years to approx 30 years, maybe a bit more.
Especially the XO Grand Champagne, one of my favorites, very hard to find.
And they're asking a lot of money for that compared to the regular XO.
This doubles in price so that's kind of sad.
Then the Privé, a must have, I think very robust.
The Paradis, just top of the bill.
The Private Reservas are very unique ones, blends of 11 eau de vies.
So that's also a really, really straight big cognac compared to some others.
Because mostly they use like 100 or 80 different blends to create a cognac.
But here only 11 uses so that's quite more unique.
The Diptyque, also very hard to find.
But if you can't find it for a good price, definitely buy this because this is really great.
So there are my cabinets which you all have seen a lot.
I got so many stuff.
It's crazy, it's hectic.
You all seen the cabinet.
I like to display a lot, as much as possible.
As you can see on my table I got so many bottles.
The other table also.
So yeah, this is what I can display for my own which I like.
Now and then I change a bit of the setup.
So for my own but mostly I let it like this.
And also here practically the whole eau de vies limited edition.
I'm still missing a few so I hope I can get them.
You know the Color Flask, these are very cool.
I got some other ones also on the other table.
So let's check it out on the other table.
I got some minis.
Not that much because I collect minis but I prefer buying big bottles to drink also.
So we got some Viestock, some Obama limited edition and some other flask sleeves.
They released some regular minis on the Y and the VSOP.
Then here, these are my beauties.
So these are the Baccarat, the Cristal bottles which are pretty expensive also.
As you can see they are all from around the 80's.
I really love these bottles that's why I place them in this cabinet.
So yeah, really like them.
Then we got the whole XO collection from number 7 to just about number 1 when they released it.
So this is really great to look at, to display it because they look so nice.
These are Swarovski Cristals also here.
And every year they change a bit of the layout.
Because the last new bottle you see has really been impressive to create I guess.
Because it has the grapes, the Brahme and all that.
Then here we got some very old bottles from around the 30's.
Only except this one that's later 50's, 60's.
But those are really 1930's.
And then here of course the Richard, a must have.
One of the most craziest things I've ever had in my life.
Especially when you drink it.
You cannot compare this to anything else you have got in your life.
Trust me on that one.
And then here we also have some other Baccarat bottles.
Also from the 80's, the VSOP, the XO and the Extra.
Then I have a room in front of my house where I just display some boxes and all that.
Because you know I want to show my collection as much as possible.
So you can see I keep my empty bottles most of the time.
So here are the boxes from the XO Limited Edition that I just showed you.
We got all kinds of VS boxes that they've released.
They got many more but it's impossible to get your hands on everything.
But yeah that's about it.
So it's about 600 bottles.
And now I just want to clean up a bit because I want to buy some new rear stuff and all that.
So yeah crazy journey man.
I love collecting Hennessy.
I love drinking it.
And it's about 15 years now that I do this.
So my passion is only going to get stronger and stronger.
So thanks all for watching the video.
Peace out.
Drink some Hennessy.
Keep on liking.
Bye man.
See ya.
Peace.
