Hidden within a dense urban neighborhood in Kannur, Kata Dora Residence reimagines tropical living through courtyards, light, and layered privacy.
Designed by VSP Architects for a Dubai-based NRI family, the home embraces an introverted planning strategy that creates openness while shielding the interiors from the surrounding context.

Located in Kannur, the residence is organized around a sequence of landscaped internal courts that bring daylight, ventilation, and greenery deep into the built spaces. A central garden anchors the home and connects to a double height living and dining space, creating a calm yet dynamic heart for everyday life.

The northern yard unfolds as a private recreational retreat with an edgeless swimming pool, dense tropical planting, and a wellness zone with a gym and sauna. The material palette - lime washed textured walls, polished cement flooring, exposed concrete ceilings, patterned tiles, and wooden reaper ceilings—creates a warm and tactile atmosphere that celebrates understated tropical luxury.
