Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson reveals the reason behind his recent slim-down on the press tour for 'The Smashing Machine' hitting theaters on Oct. 3. The actor and his co-star, Emily Blunt, sit down with ET's Kevin Frazier to discuss the Oscar-buzzworthy movie, which received a 15-minute standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival. Johnson plays real-life MMA and UFC champion Mark Ker in the biopic.

You were emotional and fast. 15 minutes of a standing ovation. Kevin, it was
the most surreal thing I had experienced. The credits couldn't even roll before that
audience erupted. There's no other high like it in the world. Are you leaving that action
genre behind? Opera is next, isn't it? Opera is next. Broadway. In The Smashing Machine,
out October 3rd, Dwayne is unrecognizable as real-life MMA and UFC champion Mark Kerr,
who overcame a harrowing struggle with addiction. Emily Blunt plays his wife.
By the way, Emily's a hell of an upgrade over Kevin Hart, right? Fair to say.
I mean, I don't want to be the one to say it, but...
Well, she's a lot taller. Come here.
You said you got a little nervous before the big fight scene that you had. What were
those moments like? Well, you say it.
I think we're still recovering. I just need you to let me in.
Okay, you can't answer this question, but I just want you to say,
yes, it's going to be great, Devil Wears Prada. I can.
Okay, go ahead. Is it going to be great?
It's going to be great. It's going to be great.
It'll be fun though, right? No, it's going to be so much fun.
Everyone's going to hate it. They're going to hate it.
That, I can't even talk about. And now, Dwayne's revealing more about
his next project, Lizard Music. It starts shooting next summer,
and it's the reason for his recent slim down. I'm going to play a man known as a chicken man.
I put on over 30 pounds to play Mark Kerr. I had to come back down to normal weight and then
probably lose another, not another, but maybe somewhere in the 20,
25 to 30 pounds just to play the chicken man. Do you miss your French toast?
I miss my French toast. So bad.
But I still have it. No, once a week. I think that's important.
