coastal spring: sea stars, orcas, and snails

#California #coast #Explore #Calista
Spring along the California coast is my favorite time of year.
When I can, I spend my afternoons wandering across the rocks, moving slowly, looking for shells, sea stars, and tiny slugs tucked between beds of seaweed.
The CA51s have returned to Monterey Bay after 3 years. This friendly pod is known to occasionally check out boats and socialize with other orca pods. Whale-watching boats in Monterey Bay keep a safe distance from all wildlife.
If orcas are curious, like they were on this trip, they will come up to boats to check them out. We do not approach orcas; we let them decide whether they want to say hi.
Whether I am out on the water or tiptoeing between tide pools, I am constantly reminded of how interconnected the world is.
Thank you for taking the time to join me on these spring adventures! I love sharing my little corner of the world with you all.
