Back in March of 2020, I was on what was supposed to be a week-and-a-half-long roadtrip through Bhutan when the unthinkable happened: we were in a full-blown global pandemic. I cut my trip short by 4 days and escaped Bhutan as international borders around the world began closing.
But I still had to connect in Kolkata, India for 12 hours. I arrived in Kolkata and was contacted by a buddy of mine who happened to be exploring the city at the time. So we decided to link up and go on some Indian street food adventures since I had some time. This is that story.

My friend Carlos from Volpe, Where Are You and I started our adventure at BBQ Nation, where we had some grilled prawns, grilled chicken wings, puchka, BBQ chicken and prawns, crispy corn, spiced potatoes, BBQ pineapple, BBQ fish, kulfi, and more!
From there, Carlos and I visited a street vendor selling puchka, or pani puri. So we decided to do a puchka eating challenge right on the street!
And to end our day in Kolkata, we hit up The Grid, an awesome bar that sells craft beer! We enjoyed a flight of several different beers, including a stout, a witbier, a berry wheat beer, a sour melon, and a cider. Then, we tried them with some jaggery!
