G Force Final Deduction

My final thoughts on the Gibson G Force Tronical tuning system on my 2017 Gibson Faded Cherry High Performance. After two months these are my findings.
Hey Gospel Guitars here and after about two months of deliberation on this
Christmas present I have determined that I've made a few changes and the next change
even though I've been doing a video series on the Gibson Tronical tuning system found on this guitar
it's coming off because it's driving me crazy.
If you just tuned it and moved along you'd probably be all right but I just sat here
and told this thing to tune itself four times in a row and it kept changing things four times
in a row. Even though it sounds like you know it's in tune it's like it doesn't trust itself
so it's got to loosen and retighten to get to the same note it was just at.
Every time I want to do something or make a new video on it I have to take a half an hour to
research how something's done with the thing. That's gotten old now so when it comes to doing
a double drop D tuning or some of the common tunings I have that stuff in my head. I don't
have to sit here and try to remember which button goes where to what letter to get to a double drop
D. I can just tune it turn a tuner so I can see where they're coming from with the concept but
the practicality isn't there for me and I'm not even somebody who sits here and plays all day
and does a whole bunch of recordings and things but when I want to play I want to pick it up and
I just want it to work and I don't think it's working for me so I don't want to make any more
videos on it. I don't want to put any more time looking at the 18 charts that tell you how to use
the thing. For some people this is the thing. They don't mind that. Now when it comes to guitar
processors I'm notorious for guitar processors. I've had I still use an old Boss GX700 that is
from 1996. I've had the Digitech 2101s. Menus do not scare me. I used to be a computer programmer
anyway so menus and setting parameters and all that kind of stuff doesn't bother me any
but other people can't help. They just know give me a stomp box on the floor on pop I'm done
you know and I like both worlds when it comes to pedals when it comes to processors but why are
we making tuning so hard? I just I gave it a fair shake two months. I seen a guy on a video the other
day and he was talking about how every time he tuned it it would just retune itself and I had
to try that myself and this is a 2017 guitar with the most current version of the tronical
system on it and it still seems just finicky. I wouldn't call it really gimmicky. The concepts
are there but they're just not real practical. There's just too much stuff to have to run to a
manual for and especially if you're doing a live show you can't be sitting here going oh gee I hit
the wrong button you know I should be in an E flat and I'm in a B sharp or something it is
yeah something weird so it's going to be coming off and I'm going to of course do a video of you
know really quick video because there's so many out there but I'm going to pull this off and I'm
going to I think I'm going to go with Gato locking tuners because they have a very short tuning peg
on them and I like that. The brake angle over the nut is very sharp on it on the last ball so
it'd be interesting to see if the brake angle really causes binding in the nut but this is a
titanium piece here so we'll find out but I've never used Gato locking tuners. I've always been
a Grover guy but I thought I would try out the Gatos or Gotos or however you want to pronounce
it. So that's it. I've changed a lot on this guitar. I still have the original pickups. It
still does have the motherboard in there although I did take out the chrome pick up ring covers
and I did swap out the chrome knobs and the tuning system is going to go but overall this
is a very good guitar for a thousand bucks. You can do some cosmetic things to make it normal and
you shouldn't have to take the guitar apart to make it work right but
Jerry's still out on the electronics. These are 61 rhythm and treble pickups.
I really like the sound on the neck. The humbucker in the treble is kind of bright.
So that's about all I got right now. I'll see you later when I go to swap out the tuners
and you have a good day and enjoy. If this is your thing then great but it's not mine
so that's my determination after two months just about playing it. So thanks for watching.
Thumbs up, like, subscribe. More stuff coming out this year. Thanks for watching.
