I think God allows suffering to show us right from wrong.
David, how long have you been on the streets?
About two years.
I hate to hear that. Are all your basic needs met? Do you have food, water, shelter?
Yes.
What is the worst thing that's happened to you since you've been out here?
I lost my leg.
I hate to hear that. What's the best thing that's happened to you?
What's the best thing?
Living for the Lord every day.
I'm out here on the streets, but yet all my needs are met.
And I try to show other people, other homeless people,
hey look, this is what God's doing for me.
Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
Do you have a Christian background?
I was brought up in a Christian home.
Mom always made sure we went to church every week.
So yes, I'm going to say I have a Christian background.
You believe there's a heaven and a hell? To which one are you going, David?
I'm going to heaven.
That sounds very confident. How do you know?
Because Jesus Christ is my Savior. That's how I know.
He shed his blood. He gave his life.
And that's how we're supposed to call upon him and call upon the Lord.
Everyone makes it seem hard, but it's actually very simple.
Open the Bible and start reading in John.
Because John, it takes you through what he went through and how he came to God
and how Jesus has accepted him.
When you have something to look forward to like living in heaven with Jesus,
it takes off a lot of stress and stuff in life that you endure here on earth.
I mean, we'll still go through it, but we'll have a life with him in heaven afterwards.
It's a free gift and it comes from God.
And it's there for everybody who wants it.
Life has been ups and downs.
Right now, like I said, I'm living out here on the streets.
But however, even though I don't have a place to live, my daily needs are met.
You know, food, being able to take a shower,
having resources to get what I need to make it through life.
And those needs are being met.
Life has not always gone my way.
No, I do not think that.
However, I do think that life is.
My life has gone, gone through the way that
that God allows it to go to keep me on track with him.
