I Shouldn’t Have Taken This Road … | Norway EP4

This Chinese couple Like just drove into me. So this is from your car. I mean Two crashes within ten minutes. I just feel like getting off this road now And then I'm definitely taking a break Good morning. I slept really well last night. Actually, it's like the best night so far. I think my body's getting used to Sleeping in a tent with no pillow Now I'm gonna do my morning routine Breakfast packing up all my stuff. It's another really nice warm day So I'm very happy about that I'm a bit concerned though because My bike looks like this it's really sunk into the gravel, so I'm afraid it's gonna fall over Yeah, just left the campsite and going solo from now on and Yeah today I'm going towards the fjords so leaving the leaving the western part where all the islands are and Going back towards the mountains, which I'm really happy about because I Really enjoyed being in the mountains and the fjords So, yeah, let's see what today brings I have a few destinations in mind but not an exact plan, so We'll see so far I've been driving through a lot of tunnels and Now I've arrived in this little town called Stordalen in the middle of or in between mountains And in this fjord, it's very beautiful here for sure We're already back driving in the mountains you can see in the distance All the white tops. I feel like when they have snow on them. That's when they're real mountains Otherwise, they're more like hills Soon we will be taking a ferry again. I really like taking the ferries actually, oh I think I'm allowed to pass but I'm not sure In nine minutes Okay, perfect, and I'm not gonna get off my bike All right. Let's get on the ferry There's a whole group of motorcycles from all kinds of different countries lots of UK Riders, I think we're going over to that little town over there. So it's not a long ferry ride. Oh Look, there's a there's a motorcyclist with a little dog in the back. I Think they're trying to get up to get us all to fit in there I want to see that little dog again on the on the bike. That was so adorable I don't know if you can see but there's a little dog on that person's lap The one who's driving right now, look at the little dog Look, that's adorable It's so loud with all the motorcycles. I think I'll be one of the last ones to drive off All right, so you're going to the right To the Syntac Well, everyone's going the same direction that's funny So My plan was that I wanted to go to this little town called three steam That little town had a like serpentine River going through it and But on the way There's this other place that I also wanted to see and so it just made sense to go to that place first and then go to the village with the the river like a Like a serpent like a snake it goes like this so we're going to Get hung up now and it's supposed to be a pass similar to total stegan So yeah, that'll be exciting You can really see the reflection of the mountain in the water so beautiful This is incredible There's a guy with a dog oh my god Viewpoint I didn't know about this, but everyone stopped here. So it must be a good view Something yeah So let's drive down here see what this pass is like My god, I can't look to the right It's so high up. I Get stuck behind it, but Yeah Apparently a couple of days ago. There was a bus that got stuck here. So the road was closed for a bit but Now it's open again See if I can pass it That would be very nice if I could That's a good workout driving up a biking uphill Now this is where the point where all the twisty turns come in these 180 degree turns Hello, just a few more turns and I think I'll stop in that little village of Yeah, I know and go find a grocery store To pick up some lunch Look at that Huge cruise ship. It's ginormous. I Wonder if that is the cruise ship that does It's a popular like cruise along the fjords of Norway Is that a slide? That goes on the outside of it. That's crazy Very cool. But yeah now we are in the little town of Geranga another troll statue See if I can get some groceries another troll statue This this town had little cute souvenir shops I didn't realize the turn was that quick So I just parked my bike right in front of Such a beautiful little town There's a lot of Tourist places here that you can buy souvenirs and stuff, but I'm just gonna get some lunch and then we'll be on our way again All right lunch is Fixed some bread and Bananas. Yeah. Now let's get back on the road And I think we're driving up there. I'm just continuing on this road So this is another one of those Hmm maybe are they gonna drive or can I drive? Thank you very much This is kind of like Tolstigen When I drove there at least it's not like that warm and There's shade and it doesn't seem to be that bad. So let's see if we can get through this This is the problem at every turn a bus meets a camper van and The camper van is a foreigner and Doesn't know that he has to back up to let the bus through I Wanted to go a bit further originally, but I just couldn't help myself by stopping at this place like look at those houses over there in the distance They have like graphs on the roof and they're really old and then this waterfall. It's just It looks so nice So I think I'm gonna have Lunch here, even though it's a bit crowded Around my car is just like Small, I don't know what they were but they look funny and then they would took a picture with my bike It was funny. I can't complain Leaving this spot and now back on the twisty roads Okay So we have really climbed elevation quickly Now there's a bunch of snowy Mountains right next to me Like the snow is really close. So it means that we must be far up This is pretty cool This is actually a lake and we're at over a thousand me just over a thousand meters in elevation so It's a lake above the ocean So this is the road I'm looking to take It was called like the old tourist road It's supposed to be a very scenic road, but I'm not sure if I'm on the right way So, let me just check so now I'm heading towards that village with the river that I was talking about and It doesn't want me to wants me to go back but I'm gonna take this way I'm looking forward to seeing how nice this road is and there are some cute villages along the way that I would like to stop at and just Yeah, just enjoy so Let's get going So This ended up being a gravel road Which I'm not mad about It's pretty easy gravel just no big rocks, so that's nice Thank you We tried to get it up. Yeah, so maybe if you lift in the front give me one second. Mm-hmm. Okay Thank you very much Yeah, yeah, it's okay. Yes. Thank you. Oh that doesn't sound good. Okay. Well Well, there was a very nice lady and man who helped me with that Yeah That was so stupid. Like it should have been fine, you know I'm just really glad I didn't end up in the ditch and Nothing broke on my bike So I'm happy Yeah, and I'm really glad that actually people came to help me Not like last time when I did it myself just because Because otherwise I would have to take off all the stuff on the back and then I could lift it up But now because they helped me they I Didn't have to I only took off the box and And then I can lift the bike you learn every time now I have a little bit of an adrenaline rush but I'm just gonna take it easy now and Yeah, try to enjoy the view I Mean I have to say this is a very scenic road but it is a little scary to drive because it's small and It just like drops Like right down on either side But I mean the views are incredible Just completely surrounded by rocks and tundra snow There's no trees. I Mean this looks so cool Like this Chinese couple like just drove into me. So this is from your car No, I'm okay. I'm not Norwegian. So I'm Swedish It's from Sweden, okay You borrowed the car maybe you can call the agency Okay, well you can Sweden yeah, I Mean two crashes within ten minutes Yeah, let's I just feel like getting off this road now and then I'm definitely taking a break Yeah, but there's this really nice Norwegian lady who who Who just like helped me and just like calm me down And she made me feel a lot better so I'm very thankful for her So, thank you Norwegian lady So, yeah, I'm only driving 30 kilometers per hour from now on Like I told the lady I was like it is not my day today Apparently or or it's just like that. This is not my road but I mean Yeah But I don't know if I said this or I explained it. But what happened was I was in a turn. I wasn't filming Because I can't film all the time But I was taking a turn and I was like I Was on the like the turn was going like to the right and so I was on the inside of the turn And then this car instead of staying on on his side He just like cut the cut the corner and drove right into me But I didn't fall over I just like put my bike in a ditch But it was a very small ditch and I could drive it myself out of the ditch and Nothing happened to my bike, but his car some plastic pieces like went into my Went into my bike and the handle for the back the handle for the back door fell off and The plastic pieces from the back of the car and he was very worried because he had rented the car and he was like Can I drive the car? But yeah, they had a full insurance. So Yeah, it should not be a problem at all for them yeah, just gonna I have like probably 10 kilometers left on this road, so I'm just gonna chill and Then once I get out on the main road, I will Take a small break again, even though I just had a break. I think I was really lucky actually because If I didn't have the crash bars, then the car would have hit my leg But the crash bars kind of protected my legs so they protect the bike and they protect me so So that was good at least the gravel road now turned into a paved road The views are still really stunning. I know every time I say like see you in the next stop like the next village that I have planned but Every time I drive it's just like a new Incredible view like this one was just insane So I can't help but stop and take pictures and stuff I love when you can see the entire road All the way down the valley Looks very cool Just live here on the mountain so just arrived in the little village of stream and this is where the The river rent like a snake But you can see it's sort of like if you look at the lake the river But I don't think you'd know it unless You actually knew it was there. So from like ground level at least you can't really tell But yeah in this town, I thought I would take a break and Maybe get an ice cream Just sit and relax hopefully somewhere Preferably somewhere by the water and maybe yeah, so let's see if we can do that Now I'm arrived in Luam Which is another small village Yeah, I still haven't found a spot to sit down and I I'm going to sit down somewhere in this town So yeah, just finding somewhere. I just want to find somewhere where there's shade because it's 30 degrees Outside just went and bought the most expensive ice cream from that store it was like one of these for 84 Kronor but I was really craving it. So I ate the whole thing So yeah, it's really hot and I think I would like to do some kind of hike tomorrow or just like explore the area a bit So I'm gonna find a camping nearby so I found a beautiful little campsite like 20 minutes from here. So That's where we are going now It really feels like we're in the in the heart of The Norwegian fjords with all these mountains and it is still so hot. It's 32 degrees Maybe I can finally have a Swim that I've been wanting to have for a while So right now we are driving through all the Dolan and there's just a very long waterfall up there and Yeah, now we are at the camping site Ållevatn Something like that This looks very nice This looks very very nice. Very peaceful Very quiet I'd like to get a spot near the water. That would be really cool See if I can See if I can stand here for now So this was a little bit of an expensive camp, but That's okay. It's not a big deal And also for tomorrow, I'm gonna do this hike that actually starts from this camping and it was one of the hikes I wanted to do from the beginning. So I'm really happy about that actually And it's like to the top of one of these mountains. So I'm definitely doing that tomorrow You know what? I'm gonna do like this All the footage of myself driving earlier when I when I fell it's so embarrassing because it was nothing like I thought there was a car but the car was like He was waiting for me and then I still like fell over but whatever So this is a really nice camp site It's really fancy and a little bit more expensive, but it has really nice amenities like really clean bathroom and toilets Hot shower that didn't cost extra money, which it did last night So that was really nice, but it is really Family oriented camping. So there's a lot of kids here. You can like rent kayak You can go swimming and stuff and originally I wanted to go swimming tonight But I didn't feel like it because the Sun kind of went down over the mountains So it got kind of cold. So I just didn't really feel like it but tomorrow I'm excited because I'm taking a really nice hike That actually starts From here. So that's really convenient I can leave all my stuff and then go on the hike because I feel like I've been driving a lot the past few days and I haven't really Moved around so it's nice to just get get in a little walk or a little hike So hopefully it'll be nice and the view from up there supposed to be really good So today is day four and I want to show on the map where I have driven today started up here close to Olusund Drove this road down like that and then to Geiranger on these twisty roads like that and Those are some really nice roads And then drove to the right and then down on this Gravel road where I crashed but It was a very scenic and nice road that I really recommend Then I kept following the same road and I wanted to get to this little town of Strin and then I ended up driving down this little road and now I am in Oldvatnen and That's where I'm camping right now. I actually think it's this mountain. We're gonna hike This is kind of what the terrain looks like It doesn't even feel like a path Same thing is happening again. The roads are too small and the cars have to back up Wow Okay, I did not expect that Oh my god, it's literally it's not moving. Oh my god. I hope it says hello to me Oh, no, I'm not gonna disturb it That's so funny they're just chilling this has easily become my favorite camp spot so far
