The Radio Collector: Qiu Jianqiu
1 Video View·Mar 23, 2026
As a young man, Qiu Jianqiu had a rather curious ambition: to collect examples of all China’s domestically produced radios. 40 years later, his ambition achieved, he made the public-spirited decision to donate the entirety of his private collection of more than 2,000 radios to the Zhongshan Museum in Zhongshan, Guangdong, thus ushering into existence China's very first dedicated radio museum. Each piece in the collection bears witness to the tremendous changes that have taken place in China over the decades since the country began manufacturing its own radios!
