After hours of work, it is finally time to see if all the changes resulted in finding reverse and first once again.

Torsion bar suspension is trash by 2026 standards, hell, even by 1980s standards. So I finally pulled the trigger and ordered a set of Bilstein RSR shocks (220/180 valving) as well as the Rebel Racing coil over hardware kit for said shocks.

After talking some trash about torsion bar suspension, I finally installed the coil overs. This is a very welcome upgrade and something everyone should do to their old Porsche 911s! I then took on the daunting task of reinstalling the gearbox I just put back together to the engine, and then reinstalling the K24A2 and 915 transmission into the chassis itself.

I also grabbed the Numeric Racing short throw shifter, which includes their shift linkage. This is a very welcomed upgrade after having driven Matt's 911 previously and being shocked with how well direct it felt.

After failing to test whether the engine was working again, I discovered I had wired in the starter incorrectly. Then it was all systems go to make sure everything was working!

It was then time to re-assemble the rest of the rear end of the car, getting the Dansk exhaust mounted back up, the rear bumper and making sure the lights were all working still. Then, it happened.

For the first time since January 29th, 2026, I drove the 911 out of the garage and back in under it's own power. This is a huge moment for this project, as I have learnt so much about the transmission, the intricacies of the suspension and design, as well as begrudgingly adjusting shifter rods.

With the help of Clinton, the owner of Rebel Racing Products, we opted for a 300lb Eibach main spring pair.
