Hi, my name is Andrea Sipone and I'm a stay-at-home mom of three
I love interior design and I love trying to make my home beautiful and I love helping my friends and family as well
Ever since I was little I was always
Really interested in designing and that came in different shapes and forms and when I was 15 16
I was in middle school. I
Told my parents that I wanted to be surrounded by antiques in my bedroom and my parents like yeah go for it
That sounds like a weird great idea
so my dad helped me source antiques and he would bring things home for me and I would
Walk around the room and I would decorate them and then I would take pictures and then I would look at the pictures and I
Would say oh this needs to be changed around. I also used to frame
Relatives that were long deceased like like antique photographs
because that was
It fit the vibe that I was going for which is again strange as a 15 year old
But that's what I used to do and I always just wanted to be
In a room where I looked around it made me happy. I felt good about this color
I felt good about this design scheme. I've been like that since I was little and now recently
About three years ago to this week. I was diagnosed with a disease where my hearing is deteriorating and
I found out three years ago sitting with a specialist that within three to five years. I would likely be completely deaf
So that was a really that was a you know, a hard time for me for the the months following
that diagnosis and I just kept focusing on
Not hearing music and a life without hearing my kids voices and a lot of really sad elements that I am
preparing for in the future
And there was one
morning, it was a few months after I was diagnosed and I
just saw a beautiful vignette that I had designed a few weeks ago, and I just had this moment where I
Realized like this makes me happy and it made me feel hopeful and I guess it
The design has been
Something that has always made me happy and I realized that it will continue when I can't hear
So I've just you know, I've told myself that I want to make my own home as beautiful as possible
I want it to feel like a hopeful space and a happy space for me
and I
guess there was just it was that moment when I opened my bedroom door and I realized like I can still feel happiness and it
Was something that I hadn't felt in a few months. My love for design is running deep right now because
When I can't hear I'll still be able to see my wallpaper and
See beauty around me. We built this home in 2020
We moved in in I want to say it was like the third week of February
so it was right before everything shut down for kovat and
It was such a fun time to be stuck inside
Because it was a new home. There was
endless amounts of projects and and you know things that we could do to get it ready for our family and
I guess some of my favorite memories being here is
turning up the music so loud and coming home and dancing with my three young kids around the island and
we go back and forth with
Like selling this house and building a new one because I do love interior design and my husband is is on board too
But I think back to the fun memories that we've had here and just being home
For the first year living here and we made so many memories as a family
This room is definitely our most used room in the house and we are a family of five with three children
So we needed to make it functional with storage so we can put their stuff away
but I also wanted it to be beautiful and the reason why we bought this property was because we loved the view out the back and
So what we did was we put motorized curtains on we can open and close it the Sun sets in the back, which is wonderful
But we also wanted there to be a clear view from the entryway when you walked in to be able to see out into the
backyard
So the other important thing like I said before it was storage and just functionality for a family of five
And so this piece is full of toys. Everybody always says to me. Where are all your toys?
We're kids that well, they're all in these baskets. They're in these drawers
I mean every single one of them is completely filled
It's all banged up because the kids play on it, but that is just I think the way it works when you have a young
family
Something else that we wanted to do so we watch TV in this room, but we wanted to hide the TV
So it pops up out of this this bookcase or this cabinetry right here
So if you press the button it pops up we can watch TV. We try to play more games in this room than watch TV
But yeah, it's it works for it's like a family room a living room
It's been everything and we all congregate here a lot
The fireplace was really important. I wanted a real fireplace, but that didn't work out
But we've flipped the gas fireplace on all the time and we play games and we hang out
So this is definitely our most lived-in room in the house
We wanted to have two large sofas that were
Beside each other just so people could come in sit down be comfortable and have a drink have snacks
We usually clear off this table and we have a bunch of appetizers and drinks and everything going on
So we we do like to entertain and have our friends over and I just feel like this room kind of lends to conversations
And and fun and then we always make sure that when the sunset happens, we always have the the curtains open
So it's just a fun relaxing room the walls in this room
So it's a very tall ceilings and we had a lot of blank white walls. I knew I wanted it to be
a
neutral room and I didn't want to have a lot of color on the walls because I wanted to be able to make changes and
Swap out furniture and pillows. So we wanted to keep it this like cream white color, but this was a big blank wall
So we decided to put the applied molding boxes on just to add some interest
So it wasn't just a plain wall and then we also mimic that on that side as well
So for the fireplace wall
In our previous house
We had had bookcases and bookshelves that were built in beside the reflanking the fireplace
And we decided that we weren't going to go that route this time because we wanted the fireplace to be the focal point
So we kept the side simple. We added some grass cloth just to have some dimension to the room artwork that is important to me
This is a framed picture of my mom when she was I think six or seven years old that we had restored and then framed
And we placed it above the fireplace and I just like it makes me happy every time I see it
I don't have bookcases in this home
So I don't have the ability to like rearrange and stack and layer are and and do the things that I love
So I do play around with this area a lot
So this is our very large coffee table and it changes definitely by the week and then for like Halloween
We'll have like spooky things out, but I like to always use design books and to kind of prop things up to add height
I always like some interesting pieces. So we have this like weird little swan here
These were sourced from an antique store
So I like to you know have like a collection of interesting objects on this table
But it definitely does vary and like I swap them out, you know from week to week just to keep things interesting
And next we're going to move on to the kitchen
All right, so this is my kitchen I
Really wanted to have the marble make the biggest statement in the room. So we looked all over the place
We found Calcutta Viola and I was so happy with it. And again, I was
Definitely told do not put marble in
In a house that has three young children and we have definitely like lived with it
We leave glasses we've chipped it, but I think it still looks beautiful the way it is
So I'm still very happy with it and I would still recommend marble to any family
Even if they've got young children and if they're just reckless like me, but anyways, so I don't particularly love cooking
I'm not a good cook at all
90% of the meals that I make for my children. They don't eat at all. So I
Don't spend a ton of time cooking here
But something that was important to me that when I am making mac and cheese on the stove
I wanted to put something on these windows
They were uncovered for the longest time and we ended up putting these two pages curtains on and they're very simple
But I think they're so beautiful. It's also really nice. My kids play directly outside of here
This is where like their play area is outside the kitchen
And if I'm in here and I am making it or I'm doing something
I like to be able to not make eye contact with them because I don't want to be asked to do anything
So I can just close those really quickly and that's really nice
And it also I just think it like I now that we have these curtains up
I can't even imagine not having curtains in this kitchen. I think they turned out so pretty
but something else that I think is important for me in a kitchen because we built two houses and I
Was adamant that we had some kind of artwork that was on display in the kitchen
So this time we decided to place it above the range
And I thought it looked I'd looked I mean, it's a little bit more interesting
you don't always
expect
Painted artwork to be in a kitchen, but I think that it looks nice and it just adds some interest and then
We decided to do something kind of fun here. So we put
Chicken wire on the backs of these we had thought about doing reeded glass
And then we decided to do something a little bit more interesting and we put the wire
on the cabinets for
The cabinetry
so this is something that I am asked really frequently what the color is and the thing is is that I can't ever answer that
Question because our cabinet maker created the color himself and he's wildly talented
But some of the things that I love about custom cabinetry is like beautiful details like this
I don't know what this is called, but I love it. I think it's so pretty
It just adds like more detail and just more interest to the cabinets
They're all soft clothes, which was important with three kids, so, you know, that's a very important feature
Oh something else that was super important is that we wanted an integrated fridge. I
just I
Like the way this looks I like that. I just blends into the cabinets. It's not something's not an eyesore
It's not something that you have to look at
So that is that that was really important to us when we were designing this kitchen
Something that I think is really important in this kitchen in particular is that I like to have something nice and tall to take up
Some space right here. So I love to have flowering branches in the spring
We should do something fun in the fall with like, you know something with leaves, but my friend who owns good farm
She is a floral artist and she's also a farmer
She's just wildly interesting, but she creates the most beautiful
Structural pieces that I can leave here and they last for a long time, too
I thought that these were really beautiful flowers and then she combined them with the flowering branches
We decided on these globe pendants from Hudson Valley lighting for our kitchen. I want
Drives me nuts when you're in this like big beautiful kitchen and they're small little pendants
And I'm sure that there's a time and a place for that, but I wanted something sizable
I wanted them to I wanted them to be like a part of the kitchen
So we decided these three lights and we my family we are all Disney people
so a fun little thing to do with these is that sometimes we
Inflate white balloons. We make them into Mickey faces. So they just they do everything for us
And now we are going to move into the breakfast nook one of my favorite areas of the house, I love it
It's a little chilly in the winter right now as you can see we are surrounded by windows
But I love this transition. I love that
We have you know a nice transition between the kitchen and the eating area
And so if we move in here, I think that the most important part of this space is the wallpaper
so this is also House of Hackney wallpaper and
For that I didn't even buy a sample. I saw it and I was like, this is exactly what this space needs
I wanted it to be interesting. I wanted it to be a little playful and fun
So we bought it bought all of it without even holding up a sample first I was so happy with it
if we move over here, so these this is more of the custom cabinetry, so we
Originally thought that this room was going to be a banquette on three sides
And as we were, you know building and standing in the space really this is gonna be the world's largest
Banquet, like it's gonna take you 10 minutes to slide to the other side
So what we decide is that we were gonna put in these built-ins to kind of round off
You know the seating area and I thought that that worked out really well
The florals are also by Good Farm
She wanted to you know, make the colors kind of pop off of each other
So we did like the red orange with the green background and I thought it worked out really nicely
we
had built a home in
2015 prior to this one and
We loved the building process. I feel like so many people get so overwhelmed with making selections and choosing paint colors and
it ended up being a really fun project for my husband and I because we I would say we're both pretty good decision-makers when
It comes to our own decisions
one of the reasons why I you know chose not to pursue this as a career path is because I
Love having the ability to make a mistake in my house and then just kind of fix it up
But I could never do that with somebody else's money, but I am known for deciding on a random Monday
We're gonna do a gallery wall, I'm not gonna measure I'm just going to
You know haphazardly hammer nails and if you removed the paintings here, you would see like seven other holes
so I just I love having creative control over my own space and just being able to do whatever I want and
Yeah, that's that's what I love about design. It could go anywhere
The next piece we're gonna move into is my mudroom
And I didn't want it to be your standard mudroom. I wanted it to be playful and I wanted it to be really fun
So having three kids we have a lot of stuff. So these built-in drawers that are down here
How's their shoes all this basket? These are all
ball caps just
Lots of not that many kids three kids lots of stuff, but the most important part is definitely the wallpaper
so again, this is House of Hackney wallpaper and
We installed this and then I noticed after the fact that there are actually faces in
Within the love the florals in the wall covering which I noticed that weeks after it was installed
So I was like, yeah, this works for us
So, yeah, so there's lots of storage really fun bold wall covering on the walls
I want always want to have some interesting artwork. So we have this cool old photograph of Saratoga
This is the main road in Saratoga from I think the turn of the century
So I thought that that would be fun and just be interesting for people as they walk through
We have a desk we kids have to do homework
Sometimes they sit here usually at the kitchen table
But yeah this I I don't really know what we would do without a mudroom of this size
we thought that it was overkill when we designed the house, but
no, it's
definitely utilized the flooring in this room is
Incredibly inexpensive we found
The least expensive white tile and the least expensive black tile because at that point in our home building experience
We were maxed out on budget. So
What we did is we found very inexpensive materials and we put a little bit more money into the labor
And we had somebody come in install it this way, but I thought this was fun
I thought it worked really nicely with the wallpaper and
It was again
Like I said incredibly inexpensive
we like to showcase the family portraits that we have done every year from all of our
Great photographers that we work with but I like to just I mean in spaces like this where
It's just like a more personal area of our home
I like to have like photos of our kids and you know, I and we swap these out, too
I'm a big believer in keeping things fresh. So I'm always taking those down and putting up new photos, but definitely and more
Like it's a more personal area like our mudroom is mostly just us being here
So I like to showcase our family portraits here. So for the windows in this room
We went with a two pages Roman shade again
And I really loved this banding that runs along the outside of the Roman shade and I had chosen
Just you know this beautiful taupe color
but then I wanted to have a pink accent because this room directly leads into my hallway and
We just recently painted the entire hallway pink. So I thought that that would be like a nice transition
it kind of brings you into the hallway and
I thought a Roman shade was the perfect choice for this window because I mean sometimes you do want some privacy when you're here
So we pull it down
Next we are gonna move through the hallway into the dining area. So we recently redid this room
This is another room that has had multiple iterations since the time that we moved into this home in 2020
We've again chose a house of Hackney wallpaper
I'm sure you're sensing a theme here
but I thought I actually
recommended this to somebody that I was doing some interior design work for and they passed on it and I was like
Perfect. I it's going in my house. I was thrilled
I think that this is the prettiest wallpaper and we use the applied molding boxes just to give it a little bit more interest and
and kind of you know
There's no need for artwork in this room. I personally feel with
With the wallpaper and the applied molding
The ceiling we recently painted this and my god, what a difference
We use mouses back from Pharaoh and ball and I just think that it makes the room so much cozier
And I think it really like it plays off the wallpaper really nicely. I think that it complements the pink chairs and
I also we okay, this was fun
So we replaced the light fixtures and this has all happened within the last week
We had something very modern before that just didn't work for this room and I ended up finding these light fixtures at Home Depot
So they were very inexpensive. I think that they were great
I think that the scale of them is very nice against the big table because it is a larger table
But having two of them is nice too. So for the windows in our dining room
We originally had these that were already installed
But we decided to go back and add another layer and we added two pages Roman shades to both of the windows
So this is one of the darkest rooms in our home. It doesn't get a lot of natural light
So I didn't want to like darken it any further, but I needed to add another layer of interest
So we added the Roman shades and they're light filtering
So they still allow light in but I think that they just really like add so much to the window
It makes it more grand with Roman shades. I really do like to layer them
I like to have the panels and then I like to have a Roman shade inside, especially in my children's rooms
You'll see this in a little bit
But it's nice to have the option if you want to have a completely dark room and you know
you can go all the way and close everything or if you want to be able to wake up like before the bus comes you
could maybe just pull the pull the drapes close, but I
Mean, I like to do light filtering in most rooms except for in my kids rooms. We always go blackout for sure
So now we are going to move into the hallway so a couple weeks ago I texted my husband and
We had agreed that we were just going to touch up the walls and I said I have an idea for our hallway
it's not too crazy and
Ultimately, it was a little crazy. We decided to go full color wash pink
It's the color is setting plaster by Farrow and Ball
And I think it's the most beautiful color because it reads kind of tan. It's not too pink
It's not baby pink
but it's still it's just it gives so much warmth to the space and this hallway is long and goes the
Almost the entire span of our home our first floor
So I wanted it to be something that was interesting and fun
But I wanted it to be like a little playful also
so we decided to change it from white and we settled on setting plaster and
You know
we added this like console to like maybe make a little bar area for when we do entertain because
This room is right off of the dining room. So if we were to have a dinner party, we would utilize this space and
we added again, you'll see a lot of
Applied molding throughout the house and we add so this was a huge blank wall
it previously housed a series of photographs black-and-white photographs and it was just
Not the vibe it was not good. So we added
The the custom molding and then we painted it and this is just like exactly what I want my house to feel like it
makes me so happy and
the archways the archways kind of divide the hallway into sections, which is kind of fun and
Designing a home that has both archways and rectangular doorways. That was a challenge, but I think
Might be wrong, but I think that what we did ended up working in the end
All right, so as we move down my new pink hallway
I want to show you my favorite part of my home
Which is my zebra and I did not participate in the killing of the zebra
My dad bought this for me. It was a Christmas gift and I just he knows how much I appreciate interesting
Crazy things and so this is just one of my favorite parts of the house
But come on in we're gonna go into my master bedroom, which admittedly is unfinished
I have big plans for this room there. They all live in my head right now, but
We have you know, a nice view that goes out into the backyard
We can see the sunset, but there's a lot of things that I that I wish to do with this room in the future
we
Did a little bit more of a modern approach
Especially with the applied molding. It's not your traditional molding
That's more modern, but we did the same boxes, but we you know, I'm trying to try to make it interesting
we added some grass cloth wallpaper, which just adds some texture and
Yeah, I have plans for this room. I think it's gonna be really crazy when I get done with it
But we're just not there yet what I love doing with my friends and my sister-in-law. We had the best experience recently
She asked me to come help her decorate her Christmas tree, which was just the most fun afternoon
I've had in my life and I just love rather than pursue interior design as a career or as a job
I've just really enjoyed taking on smaller projects like bookcases
like styling bookcases is just so much fun with a glass of champagne and good music playing and
Just like small jobs like that. I love I love doing that. It's just it's it's my passion for sure
All right, so welcome to my entryway so when my husband and I decided to design a new house in 2020
We wanted a big grand entryway
So as I said before like I really want when you walk into a room to have like a statement or something of interest
So we want it to be wide enough and we wanted tall ceiling so that we could have a table in the center that we
Could have some beautiful florals
One of my friends is a florist and she's an artist and she produces the most beautiful creation
So during holidays and you know during like season changes, she provides something beautiful
So I really I love having a statement piece when you walk in something else that I really was interested in
So this room has had many different iterations
This is the room that has been changed probably the most in my home and at first when we moved in
I wanted to have a big black and white like graphic mural
So this used to be covered in almost like like paint splotches and it was really cool
For
about six months and then I got sick of it and then we decided to go with a more textured wall covering because I thought
That it just warmed up the space a little bit more and it was a little bit more inviting. I like to have things that
They're important to me and that remind me of places and this mirror
I originally bought for my daughter Rita's nursery at a house that we lived at previously and it hung above her crib and
I just I love it and it has since broken and it has chipped because it has fallen
But I just I love it
And when I walk in it reminds me of her nursery, which she's now eight years old and doesn't have a crib anymore
but so we've repurposed it here and then we have a really inexpensive bench that I got off of Amazon and
It serves the purpose. It's good. It works and I think you know, I'm always open to changing things out again
This is like the room that is always evolving. But yeah, so this is my little my little bench
We wanted to allow a lot of natural light to come into the entryway
but I wanted to put
something to add some pattern and a little bit of interest on this window and we chose a two pages Roman shade and
I loved it because
Number one we were able to install it ourselves
And we are a household that we hire somebody to come in to fix absolutely everything
Including when a light bulb is out. So yeah, so this was great. My husband was able to install this we chose this taupe
taupe pattern with blue because I felt like it
Complimented the antelope runner that we have on our stairway really nicely and I just thought that like the patterns played off of each other
Really nice. I like to have
Artwork or pieces in our house that just make me feel something and this is just a picture of my daughter who had
Written in her diary the night before bed
She had a happy day and I just I come into this room and it makes me happy
my personal interior design style is I would say
traditional with some modern elements the things that are most important to me in homes is that they reflect your personality and
Ultimately, I
Just love interesting homes
I love things that are a little bit unique and
Sometimes I feel like a lot of the choices that I've made within my home don't necessarily make sense
but I like things that are interesting and I like it when people walk into my house and they're like
Oh wasn't expecting that and not necessarily do they like it, but I just like something that's a little interesting or quirky
We knew that we were going to have a powder room off of the entryway
and so we decided to make this like little curved nook to go inside and I I wanted it to be like
tiny and
Everybody advised me against that because you actually need to fit into into the room that you're going into
So this leads into the coat closet and then it comes into our powder room
And now we are going to move into the powder room
This is a
Hall closet a coat closet, but it leads into our powder room and I wanted to go really bold on the wall
so I chose a house of Hackney wallpaper that I thought would look good from floor to ceiling and
We use two pages curtains for this window as well
So this is a cafe curtain and I was really specific with what I wanted in this room because I wanted to allow light in
But I needed some privacy because our driveway is just outdoor this outside this window
And so this worked really nicely it slides if you want to peek outside
But I thought that the pattern looked really nice with the wallpaper
With this room. I really wanted something bold on the walls
And then I chose artwork that I thought just was a little bit more subdued
So this is actually from my mother-in-law was an etching that she made and then this is a gift for my sister-in-law
so I like to have a lot of really
Like meaningful pieces throughout the house the sconces that I chose so we have recess lighting which I
Never have on but I love the sconces because it's just enough light
You can check your makeup and it just nice ambient lighting
so my biggest piece of advice when decorating a powder room is that I think you can go really bold because
This bathroom isn't used that frequently
So if it even if it's something that like you might get sick of down the road
I don't come in here that often so I'm gonna let this live for a while
But I like a really bold wall covering
I think that the window treatment is really important because you definitely want privacy
But you still want to allow light in so that's why this two pages
Cafe curtain was really good because it's light filtering and it's still you can't see in but I just think I think you should go
really bold in a powder room when you should kind of throw all the rules out the window the places that I go to
find inspiring home decor is
absolutely Instagram I
Have a love-hate relationship for sure because I can spend hours
Endlessly scrolling and looking at beautiful homes and my husband pays the price for that
Literally because I'll find you know, something that inspires me and then next thing we know we have a mood board and I'm pricing out
Subcontractors and I I mean it's like it's amazing
I just feel like we used to have to flip through magazines, which I still do but having it at your fingertips is just wonderful
All right. So now we're gonna go upstairs and we're gonna see the rest of the house
So now we are going to move into my daughter Rita's room and
This room was really fun to design because when we moved into this house
She was three so it was fun because I basically showed her this color or this color
No, this or that and it was fun. She picked it and she really helped in the creation of this room
We were back and forth between and everybody is familiar with us
But the blue colorway of this this wall covering this is Schumacher
We're between the blue and the pink and she ultimately chose pink and I I'm glad that she did
But we you know, we tried to design it
Based on what would be fun for a little girl. So we went with the two twin beds because
She is a girl that loves to have her friends sleep over
So that works out really nicely
We have the large graphic
Print above her dresser and I just think this is definitely a more traditional and classic wall covering and it's something that you would
Normally see and maybe like a dining room or a powder room
But definitely not something that you normally see in a little girls room
So I thought that this print just like made it, you know a little bit more
Kid friendly and I really like the juxtaposition of the traditional wall covering with the graphic print
now with the windows we use two pages for the light filtering drapes as well as the Roman shades and
As you can see we added the same pink banding that we have down in
the in the mudroom as well and I love this accent because it plays off of the wall covering really nicely and
just as a whole I think that the windows turned out really beautiful because
there's a lot going on in this room with regard to the wall covering and like the two beds with the spindles and
I really like the nice neutral window coverings
and I thought that it I mean it was a dream to order them through through two pages as well because they have
Like a calculator on their website that you can just plug in and we just did it all ourselves
Instead of hiring somebody to do it
So that worked out really nicely and I was really happy with the way that it turned out
For the bedding that we chose in Rita's room. We wanted it to you know, play off of the wall covering
We wanted it to be extremely soft and gentle because she's such a sweet nice little girl
Who loves rabbits and so
the
statement pillows
But yeah, we just wanted to have a few different layers. We wanted it to be really cozy and nice for her and
Still wanted it to work with everything else that's going on in the room
Something that I really wanted with this room was we wanted to do a bold wall covering which I've said so many times
But I think that this is gonna work really well as she gets older
I think that we can make this like fun and and make it fun when she's a teen and you know
As she's grown as I said, she was three when we moved in. I think she was still yeah
She was still in a crib
So I think that this is going to age really well and it's going to kind of grow up alongside her
And now we're going to move into my son, this is my youngest son Rocky's room
so what we did in this room is
We picked out another really fun wallpaper and I had picked this way before he was born and thank God he loves dinosaurs
But what we did was we added some some molding just to break up the wall from the wall covering
And then what we did was we color washed everything
So we took the same dusty light blue color that I absolutely love we put it on the ceiling
We put it on the molding and then we put it all the way down the wall
So I thought that that was like a really nice way to just keep it all
I mean, it's busy
But it's also like I feel like it's kind of tranquil at the same time because the color is really nice
Now for the wall coverings in here. We decided to go bold. We did a black and ivory
buffalo check which I
Like I feel like this pattern everybody gets a little sick of seeing it and it comes in and goes in waves right now
I'm loving it. And I think it's really fun
Against this wall covering and I just think it's a nice big bold statement for a little boy
I think it's I think it works well
But as we go throughout the room, I just we try to kind of decorate it with items. That would be fun
You can see like above the bed. We have this large Mickey frame
So I said this before but we are big Disney World people in our house
So I thought that this was you know, not to
You know commercial Disney I thought it was pretty fun. So I was actually extremely excited when I found that
So I talked about keeping things that I mean framing things that are important
They're important to you are meaningful to you. And this is one of those items
so our son Rocky was born five weeks early and
he ended up having like a brief NICU stay and
One of the amazing nurses made this for him and it hung in his little like bassinet crib
So he has that hanging up there and it just it makes me happy and every time I see it
so I like having little pieces of that, especially within their bedrooms and
Well, I want my children's rooms to you know, showcase their own interests. This these are my interests
So like I said before I love music. I love Joni Mitchell. I love the Beach Boys
So I am while I am still hearing I am trying to impart all of my my music knowledge on to my children
So we spend a lot of time driving to and from school
you know having the record player on we listen to a lot of music because I need to teach them this stuff when I can
Hear it and I'll be able to kind of impart that on them now
So this is just to remind them like might want to check out the Beach Boys might want to listen to Sufjan Stevens
So I just want to always keep music at the forefront
All right. So one more room. I just want to show you James's room
It's a little
Little crazy, but like I said when we moved into this home
My kids were very young Rocky was a newborn Rita was three
James was four and he told me that he wanted a rainbow room, which is just the cutest thing ever. So it's a little crazy
but
this
Was my version of giving my four-year-old a rainbow room was giving him this like crazy ceiling
That he is now 10 he hasn't gotten sick of it yet
So I think we're in a good place with it
But he I you know, and like I said my parents let me do whatever the heck I wanted in my bedroom
I did some of the weirdest things the antiques the pictures from the
1900s bizarre, but I let him do whatever he wants. And so he you know, it's true
He's done his own gallery wall here
he's chosen all of these pieces and
I think that you know
I like kind of laid the stage with the wallpaper on the ceiling and then I kind of let him just run with it
my go-to design tip is going to be centered around artwork and
While I love going to our galleries and sourcing beautiful pieces of artwork. It's not always in the budget and
I find so much joy from finding old photographs having them restored blown up and then framed
beautifully because it's just you know more
economical and
Aside from that
I love being able to walk through the halls of my home and walk into different rooms and see things that really are meaningful to me
for example, I mean above my fireplace and glancing at it right now is a picture of my mom who's very close to me and
She is I think six or seven and it's just we found the photograph
We had it restored and it's one of my favorite parts of my home and we do that a lot throughout the house
I mean, you'll see that there's a lot of kind of like interesting objects that have been framed and just I
Really like to walk into a room and feel something and that has always helped me. So I always recommend that to my friends
