What They Don't Tell You About Building a 1970 F100
Roman walks you through the real day-to-day problem solving that goes into finishing a 1970 F100 4x4 build — the stuff that doesn't make the highlight reel but has to get done before any truck leaves this shop.
This one's running a Godzilla swap, 12-inch coilover suspension front and back, Dana 60 straight axle, true four-link front and triangulated four-link rear. One of the first 4x4 chassis we've built on coils. Boxwood green two-tone, 37-inch Mickey Thompsons, manual locking hubs, Amp Steps from Kincer Industries. It's a serious build.
The big focus right now is brakes. Roman breaks down exactly why they had to swap to F250 rear calipers, fab custom brackets, and upsize to a Wilwood 1-1/8 inch master cylinder to get the pedal feel right. There's also a pretty cool driveline e-brake setup from Rustic Disc Brakes with a 3D printed cable bracket they're prototyping in house. Real problem solving, not a glamour shot.
Nearly ready for its thousand mile shakedown — steering dialed, suspension scaled, tune in progress. Almost there.
