US President Donald Trump lost it at his NATO allies who have left the United
States and Israel down in the war effort against Iran. We have 45,000 troops in
Japan, we have 45,000 troops in South Korea, we have 45,000 50,000 troops in
Germany. We defend all these countries and then do you have any mind sweepers?
And they say, well, would it be possible for us not to get involved? I've been saying it for a
long time. This is the greatest thing to come out of this. We spend trillions and trillions of
dollars on NATO to defend other countries. And I always said, but if it ever comes time to defend
us, they're not going to be there. Many of them would not be there. And we're going to have to
start thinking more wisely in this country. Some have been very good. One or two have been
great. I'll tell you the great ones are at the right time. But there have been some that were
right up there, Peter. They were right up there. They wanted to do it so much. Go ahead, Peter.
Thank you.
Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt doubled down, saying the world needs to help secure
the Strait of Hormuz because they are benefiting from America's war effort.
Caroline, President Trump says that others step up to save other countries that were
insulted, now put their troops in harm's way.
Because these other countries are benefiting greatly from the United States military taking
out the threat of Iran. The rogue Iranian regime has long not just posed a threat to the United
States of America, but of course to our Gulf and Arab partners in the region. As you see,
I believe Iran has struck more than 300 civilian targets in the Gulf region.
If you think about Europe, their ballistic missile capability that the United States
military is currently wiping out was a direct and imminent threat to our European allies,
as well as our bases in the region, which is why President Trump took this action in the first
place. So these countries are absolutely benefiting from ensuring that Iran can never
obtain a nuclear weapon. This is something not just the United States, but the entire
Western world has agreed with for many, many years. So I think the president is absolutely
right to call on these countries to do more, to help the United States, to reopen the Strait
of Hormuz so that we can stop this terrorist regime from restricting the free flow of energy.
And the fact that they are doing so just underscores why President Trump needed to
take this action in the first place. The US attack on allies came after UK
Prime Minister Keir Starmer maintained his nation would not be drawn into the war.
Our priority is always the national interest. And so we have been clear and consistent
in our objectives throughout this conflict. First, we will protect our people in the region.
Second, while taking the necessary action to defend ourselves and our allies, we will not
be drawn into the wider war. And third, we will keep working towards a swift resolution
that brings security and stability back to the region and stops the Iranian threat to its
neighbours. I want to see an end to this war as quickly as possible, because the longer it goes on,
the more dangerous the situation becomes and the worse it is for the cost of living
back here at home. And French President Emmanuel Macron agrees
with Trump, but isn't prepared to join the war.
And Italian leader Giorgia Maloney, who is usually all in on whatever America does,
is standing with her European counterparts and sitting out the war in Iran.
Online commentators from the US blasted foreign allies, with Joey Manarino saying,
If the NATO countries continue to rebuff Trump, we should absolutely pull the USA out of NATO
and let them fight for themselves the next time they get attacked. NATO is a scam for Americans.
It just means we have to protect other countries if they ever get attacked. We can take care of
ourselves. They cannot. Trump then doubled down, saying NATO is nothing without the US.
We've been protecting these countries for years with NATO, because NATO is us. You can ask Putin.
Putin fears us. He doesn't fear. He has no fear of Europe whatsoever. He fears
the United States of America and the military that was built by me in the first term.
And whilst Trump's allies have all abandoned him,
the rhetoric coming from Iran is only getting more intense, with the foreign minister saying
Iran is not looking for a ceasefire, but instead looking to teach the US a lesson.
For this reason, this war must come to an end so that our enemies
never think of repeating these attacks again. And I think they've learned a good lesson so far.
They've understood how much of a nationalist they are,
and it's not only US allies that are against Trump. It seems as though even the US media
isn't supporting the mission, with CBS' Margaret Brennan giving the Iranian
foreign minister a platform on her show. Here, I just do want to point out,
you're speaking to us via Zoom. The Iranian people don't have open internet access, but you do. Why?
Well, because I'm the voice of Iranians, and I have to defend their right. So this is why
I have access to internet to just, you know, have our voice being heard by the international
community. But internet is closed because of the security reasons, because we are under attack,
we are under aggression, and we have to do everything to protect our people. In any country,
there are, you know, urgent measures taken for the sake of war.
Joe Reid also made the bizarre claim that women are better off in Iran than in the US.
Our regime has secret police, they have secret police. Our regime is oppressing women,
taking away abortion rights, taking away women's rights in like 26 states, some states where
they're trying to have the death penalty for having an abortion. They also oppress women.
They have the highest rate of women who are in STEM careers. We're kicking women out of the
military, out of university. We're saying that DEI means women can't be hired for high positions
in the sciences. So we're marginally better, and we're doing it for Christianity, they're
doing it for Islam, right? So it's like we don't get told those things because it would take away
the kind of American exceptionalism narrative. Commentators blasted the absurd take, saying,
if this was the case, why hasn't Joy moved to a place under sharia law?
