The president is back at the White House Correspondents' Dinner.
It was almost three months ago when a gunman stormed that dinner venue
with top government officials and the Washington press corps.
The chaos sent President Trump, top levels of government, and reporters ducking for cover.
But thankfully, officers subdued the gunman outside of the ballroom.
Trump promised to return to the dinner,
and now it has a new venue, fewer attendees, and more security.
The dinner is meant to celebrate the First Amendment.
Now, Trump has a love-hate relationship with the press.
He does answer a lot of reporters' questions,
but he often dismisses stories that he doesn't like as fake news.
I actually asked the president earlier today in the Oval Office about some of the recent
subpoenas that were issued by the Justice Department to reporters to try to turn over
some of their sources.
We're not after journalists.
We're after leakers.
We're after people that are cowards, people that are unpatriotic,
people that are treasonous in many cases.
And the way you find them is through the journalists,
when the journalists probably know they shouldn't, right?
They shouldn't be giving information out like that particular information or others.
I really put it down to national security, not all, in all cases.
But when you have somebody doing a national security leak or a leak of great importance,
and you have somebody inside the walls of, let's say, the White House leaking,
I think that's a national security concern.
I think it's absolutely fine.
