These, just like the rings of trees, are all unique, played out according to customs and traditions varying from place to place - one reason why Chinese people stress the preservation of tradition and culture. In part one of China’s Natural Splendor, the Basha people’s coming-of-age ceremony is one example of the legacy of culture that binds them to their ancestors and gives meaning to their lives.
