The LONGEST groom I've EVER done! | The Komondor Dog

A breed of dog that has absolutely no concept of fear. They will gladly risk their life to protect their family or die trying. This is Rex and he's a four-year-old Caucasian Shepherd. Agreeing to attempt to groom this dog was not a decision that I took lightly. Caucasian Shepherds were used for centuries to guard properties from trespassers and protect livestock from large predators such as wolves. If you ever see a Caucasian in a battle with a wolf you should feel sorry for the wolf. Working in such an enclosed space with a dog as large as Rex can be dangerous if he decides to lunge. This courageous and confident breed can weigh up to 170 pounds and both their size and demeanor is not to be ignored. Although loving with their family they are highly territorial and have strong instincts to protect. This immensely powerful dog is not recommended for novice pet owners. Although fairly low energy they require a level of training that surpasses your average dog. This is Rex's first professional grooming appointment. His coat is quite matted and today we are focused more on comfort and less on beauty. I'm unsure how much he will even let me do and I'm not about to push this guy past his limits. Truth be told I'd prefer to keep my face. I'm grooming Rex on the ground because he refused to get on the table. Good boy Rexy. Good boy. Good boy. He's a growler. Good boy. Leave it Rex. Leave it. The average person would probably stop when a dog of this magnitude is growling but I am at least determined to relieve him of his matting. I do believe that Rex is all bark and no bite but I did muzzle him anyways because I'd rather not find out. Leave it. He listens to me. Yeah he likes you more than me. Hey. Leave it. Good leave it. Good leave it. What about shaving your belly? Can I shave your belly? It's really matted. Can you roll over? Can you roll over? Rex. Rex. You are so dramatic. Rexy leave it. I think this is as good as it's going to get. I'm gonna try to do a little bit more when the owner comes and have the owner hold the dog outside. We won't get that on film but unfortunately we did the best that we could. He is really matted and he's not used to being groomed. So that's it for today. Okay Rex at least we got you bathed and dried and the majority of your matting is all gone. It seems that roaming my backyard is just too much work for this very lazy dog.
