Welcome to crafts and fun with miss Monica. I'm miss Monica. What's your name? Oh
Well, I'm so happy you came to crafts and fun today guess what today we're making a craft. Are you ready?
Today's craft is going to focus on
Rectangles, that's right
We're going to use lots of rectangles small ones big ones all different sizes and we are going to create a rectangle
Person. Oh, I can't wait. Now. I'm going to show you the one that I've already created and then I'll show you what you need
So we can create one together. Are you ready?
Okay, we have to head over to our arts and crafts table, here we go
We're here
We made it to our arts and crafts table and now it's time for us to craft. That's right
We are going to make something today. We're actually making a rectangle person
It could be you if you want it to be we are using the rectangle shape many many many different rectangle shapes
so we'll use different sizes of
rectangles now remember a
Rectangle has two long sides and two short sides
That's right. Two long sides and two short sides to make the rectangle. Yeah, I'm going to show you the rectangle person
I've already created and then I'll show you everything we need so we can create one together
Are you ready?
Wonderful on the count of three. I want to show you my rectangle person. Here it is. One, two, three
What do you think everyone so this is my rectangle person and you'll see I use lots of different rectangles
I use rectangle for the body or the feet even the arms and even the head to
Rectangles rectangles rectangles and even the hair the hair actually has lots of rectangle strips
And I also added a little glitter because I love using glitter so much fun and my friends you can use paper
Construction paper hard cardstock you can use even
Cardboard look at that. I took cardboard pieces from a box that I had I cut it up and I cut
Rectangles so you can use lots of different materials to create your rectangles and then put them together to create your
Rectangle person. Are you ready to give it a try?
Okay, let's talk about some of the other materials that we are going to need
So lots of the things that you see here, but let me show you a few other things that you need, too
So I'll put my rectangle person down. The glitter is falling everywhere. I'm glitter on my hands
Okay, I'll put my rectangle person right over there just for now and then
I'll show you what you need. Okay on the count of three. We'll have to get some supplies and materials here
Help me count to three, please. Are you ready? Okay, here we go. Here we go. One
two three
Look at all of the materials that we have here
So let me show you one by one some of the things that we will need or that you will need
Okay, and remember you use what you have at home or in school. Here we are
So first we'll need some glue and a scissor because you'll need to cut some of your rectangles out and I'll also not only use
The stick glue, but you can also use
Liquid glue as well. If you want to use glitter, you'll want to use the liquid glue as well. Okay
Also, you'll need some rectangles now
I have some cardboard rectangles here that I cut out using a box an old box that I had and I created some rectangles here
So I use cardboard and then I also have look over here
I'm going to pick some up for you. I have some cardstock here or construction paper
You can cut out rectangles with your construction paper as well
And if you look here at all of the construction paper pieces that I have you'll see they're different sizes
This one's big and medium and I have a skinny tall one here and all the little strips here
They're all little rectangle strips and some small ones over here. So lots of different sizes
So you need at least five to ten different sized rectangles use any sizes you like you can cut them
However, you like but you want to create
Rectangles. Okay. All right. So lots of different
Rectangles you'll need this and then you can add anything that you want to add
Like pom-poms or glitter anything you want to add to your shape person to your rectangle person
You can bring that too. So I have some pom-poms here
And I'm going to use all of these things to create my rectangle person and the first rectangle at person I created this is me
This is me. I think this time I'll create my mommy. I'm going to create my mommy
Okay, so this one's me and now I'm going to create one
That's going to be my mommy and I think I'll give it to her as a gift. Okay. All right
Oh and there's one more thing we need look at this. I had to put my
Rectangle person me. I had to put it on a piece of construction paper. So you can use construction paper actually adults
I use a little cardstock because the cardstock is a little thicker. It's sturdier
So it lasts and that's why I like to use that. But again, you use what you have at home or in school
Okay, so I'm going to use for this one. I'll use a pink piece. I'll use this pink piece
All right, let's get started. Here we go. So once you have everything you need
You want to start with your I'll move this to the side a little bit you want to start with your
Paper your construction paper or whatever paper that you're using. Okay, and first I think I'll start with the body
I would like to use some cardboard again
So I'm going to place the pieces I want first and then I'll start to glue them
So I think I want to use the cardboard and I'll do it this way. So the head will be here so you can see it
And then oh look I can use some little tiny pieces
I may have to cut some more cardboard pieces to make shoes. I like to make the shoes
So I'll take a piece of cardboard in my scissor
Take my scissor and I'm going to cut some pieces for the shoes
So I'm cutting another piece now the cardboard is really thick
So children you may need some help with cutting the cardboard
You really have to squeeze really hard when you close your scissor, oops that piece that piece jumped across the table
I'm going to cut another
That's pretty funny. Okay, so let's cut it and make sure it stays there. It is. It's Dave
Okay, so I think that can be oh those can be the shoes. Yeah. Look at that shoes
I think I want to connect the shoes this time like that and then I need something for the head
Oh, I may have to cut again. Um
Like this one, I think this time maybe I'll use some construction paper for the head. How about
orange
Let's see. We'll make sure it's a rectangle just like that
All right
That sounds good. I think I like it so far just like that. Oh
And I will need some arms. So I think I would like to use my cardboard for arms
So I'm going to go back to my cardboard and my scissors and cut some arms
And you can use whatever you have. Okay, so I'm cutting arms
and
The hands maybe the hands will be I think the hands will be construction paper. So those are the arms and
Then I would like to add some hands. What will the hands be?
How about purple some purple construction? I think I would like to cut this again, too
I'll cut it this way and
Then I still want to keep it a rectangle so I'm gonna cut it like that so it's still a rectangle
These will be the hands like this
Whoa, I think I like it so far. So now I think I'm ready for some glue. So I'm going to open up my glue
Roll it up and then I can start to glue the pieces. So I'll start with the body first
So first I was just placing it down because I wanted to see where all my pieces were going to go
So now I'm putting glue at the top at the bottom and in the middle
okay, and then I just turn it over and
Tap tap tap tap tap tap. Okay, and then let's do the feet
Do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do
To the feet for the feet and this one add some glue to this piece of cardboard and this will be feet
That's the other foot now. I have two feet
Okay
Okay, tap tap tap and let's glue on the arms
I'm going to glue on the arm. So we need to add some glue to this piece as well
Tap tap tap and we need to add some glue to this piece
That's right. And how are you all doing?
Remember if you need to cut pieces adults if you're helping to cut the rectangles
Always you can stop of course stop the video and then come back once you're ready
Come back and join me once you're ready. So it's your job to put all of your pieces together
Okay friends, so you're putting all of your rectangles together to make a rectangle person
Who are you going to make today?
Oh, is it going to be you or someone else, you know, oh
That sounds exciting. All right, keep on going. Keep on creating right now. I'm putting glue on the hands
Those are the hands. I think I want this hand. Okay, it could stay like that
And now I need to put glue on the head. I want to use this side
On this side I can use this side
Oh
I think my mommy's almost done. I'm getting there. So now I would like to add a dress in the middle
Maybe we could add a skirt in a top. Oh, let's give her a pink top. Hey mom, you can have a pink top
How's that sound? I'll put my glue to the side
Let's see the top now the top may look a little like a square. I don't know
Let's see if we can keep it looking like a rectangle. Okay
Let's see
All right
Almost it may look a little bit like a square but let's put on
How about we put on the skirt first? This is my mommy. I'm creating here
I put a little glue tap tap tap and we'll make this shirt a little more like a rectangle
Okay, mom. Here's your rectangle shirt
So I'm going to put some glue on your rectangle shirt mom
Okay, here's a rectangle shirt tap tap tap there it is what color shoes should we add
Mmm, my hands are getting so sticky. How about blue? Let's give you some blue shoes
She's very colorful today
She's wearing blue rectangle shoes
Give her another blue
Yes, and have fun creating your rectangle person
Special thing about these rectangle people are that they're all going to look so different yours will look different from mine
Oh, and that's what makes them so special and unique unique
Okay. Whoa, look at this mom is almost finished
Okay. Now I think I'd like to add a little face, but guess what?
I didn't bring a crayon or a marker or anything
I did forget to tell you you can add a pencil marker crayon
Whatever you'd like if you want to draw a face or draw anything else to your actual artwork
You can draw pictures on it. You can add more things. You can even draw the clothing. It's up to you
So if you want to do that
You will have to bring or get something that you can draw it
Glitter to make the face and maybe even my pom-poms to add to the dress or the skirt
Actually, actually, I'll put pom-poms for the shoes, too. I think that will be fun
Okay, so I'm finished right now with this glue and I'm actually going to get some liquid glue
Like this one some liquid glue because the liquid glue will help me with the glitter and it will also help me maybe with my
I like to use liquid glue for the glitter
Now this glue is pretty old that I have and it's sometimes it's a little hard to get out to squeeze out
Let's see if it's working. But if my glue is not working
I like to take off the top and then that's how I use it
But you always always always ask someone at home or in school for help
Okay, if your glue is not working, they can help you they can help you
they may have to twist it a little bit or
Even add it to like a little cup or something for you
But I'm going to take my top off and squeeze a little glue. Yep. It's already coming out. It's ready
So first, I think I have to decide what my eyes will look like. So I just need a little dab here for the eyes
Oops, that's a lot. Oh so much came out
So what I'll do is use my finger a little dab there and a little dab here
Okay, when you're using the liquid glue and if you're going to use your finger, just be careful
I don't mind getting glue on my hands and my fingers
So I just put it on my hand and I'm gonna dip dip dip dip but at home and in school you get some help
Okay with my eyes, and I think I'm going to add some here for the pom-pom shoes
Pom-pom shoes and when I'm finished I can always wash my hands
Wash my hands tap tap tap. I
Decided to go with these
tap tap tap
Tap tap tap. Yay
Okay, and now I'm going to shake a little glitter
But first I want to put a little bit more here a little bit more down here
Let's make a little design
There we go
I'm gonna make a little design with my glitter with the glue first and then when I add the glitter
It'll be just like a fun little design
It's like a squiggly line squiggly line squiggly line
Let's make some up here too
All right, I'm putting that to the side I'm gonna take some of that glue and do some dots dots dots
Dot dot dot dot dot dot. Oh, I think I'm ready now friends make that eye a little smaller
Now I think we're ready for our
glitter
Okay, I'm going to wipe my hands on construction paper
Just for now
That'll be what I wipe my hands on just for now and I think I'll go with some orange glitter
Oh, maybe some pink and blue. Hmm. What do you think friends? So I think I'll shake a little bit and
Then after I shake it, I'm going to put the excess in here in my tray. I think I'll put the blue here
So pretty there's two ways you can do it
I can put some in my hand like this and then I can just sprinkle it on
Or I could just shake it on
Shaking it on it's lots of fun. Now. It's stuck to my hand because I already had glue on my hand
This is so much fun
Okay, when using glitter
When using glitter at home or in school, make sure you ask someone for help
Okay, you can also shake shake shake the glitter just like this. Let's do this one here
shake shake shake shake shake shake shake shake shake the glitter and
You always want to ask for help and make sure you have something
Nearby to clean your hands with or you can just go ahead and wash your hands after
Shake shake shake shake shake shake shake shake shake shake. Oh
My goodness, I think this is going to look fabulous
Mom, I think you're going to look fabulous. Look at this
So now that I have all of this glitter here, I need to shake the excess that means all of the loose glitter
Someplace so usually I use a tray and today I'm going to use this tray
So I just put the tray here and then I just take my paper and shake shake shake
Shake the glitter all the excess will fall off shake shake shake and then
And now the last thing I can do is I can add some hair if I want
But I want hers to look a little different than mine. I added lots of
Scraps of the rectangles little squiggly ones to make my hair, but for my mom
I didn't want to put that because she has a short haircut, but I'm going to leave it just like that
Just like that. What do you think? Oh
I love it. I hope my mom loves it. I love it. I hope she loves her new
Rectangle mommy artwork. I hope she loves it. Oh my friends. How are you doing at home with yours or in school? How are you doing?
