On Tuesday 6th August, a 1-week-old baby elephant wobbled into a boma in the Ndoto Mountains. The tiny elephant calf's umbilical cord was still fresh and he was very trusting of the Samburu tribesman who took care of him.

One of the Samburu tribesman walked for over a day to get word to Helen Douglas Dufresne, Director of the Milgis Trust, who then contacted the DSWT for an immediate helicopter rescue.

Ndotto, as the baby has been named, arrived at the Nairobi Nursery by helicopter at 10am on 7th August 2014.
