Find out what their favourite insults are and what a night out with them would look like!
You, of all people, don't get that.
Bushes.
Oh!
Guys, con-crab-ulations on this film.
How long have you been working on that?
A long time.
Very good.
The insults that your characters throw at each other.
Poetry.
So, very important question.
What is the ultimate British insult?
I mean, the sea bomb's pretty out there.
Isn't it?
Yes, I love it.
Also, because you can...
But also, you can be Tam O'Diarmond.
Yeah, exactly.
I've worked with someone recently who says that he's a silly old...
Yeah.
Yeah, it was such a...
Yeah.
I can't say it.
She's very good at saying it.
Am I allowed to say it?
Absolutely.
Oh, you know when...
It's the same face.
He's a lovely old c***.
Lesser the old.
Oh, no.
No, I'm joking.
It's sometimes damning with faint praise, I find.
It's like, it's very cutting.
Yeah.
The whole thing that happens around the dinner table scene where,
you know, the bitterness and the sarcasm,
is it gameplay or is it actually really meant?
We bury a lot of our feelings, good and bad, in humour, I think.
My mum, she's going to feel mortified,
but she can sometimes say...
It's like, look what I've done here.
And she goes, oh, very trendy.
Which, to me...
That's what I meant by damning with faint praise.
That's not going to last.
Exactly.
Oh, yeah, that's on point fashion-wise, I suppose, yeah.
Yeah, you'll hate that in a year.
Exactly.
Those are like daggers.
Yeah.
There's a brilliant one about Eric Morecambe
and the actor was looking for his friend.
Eric was in...
Eric, his friend, was in the audience.
And he took the final bow and he was like,
oh, his seat's empty.
Oh, God, he's left.
And he went back into his dressing room
and Eric Morecambe was sitting there and he went,
so, what went wrong?
Oh, wow!
Because otherwise it's like,
if you go backstage and it's not good and you go,
oh, the set was amazing.
Oh, I loved your shoes.
You're like, oh, yeah.
Is there a specific line that you guys have had to deliver
on any project that's caused you to apologise?
Ooh.
I had to check in,
only because I'd been having a very nice time as Theo
and then it got very kind of toxic.
And I thought, I think,
I don't really want to be constantly feeling,
I need the friendship thing back again.
And she's very good at being toxic
when the character needs to be.
So I was like, wow, I need to just check Olivia and I,
can we just do the friend thing in between takes
every now and again?
But we didn't have a problem.
No.
Having hate at each other.
No, because it's fun, isn't it?
It's fun.
It's cathartic.
It's a comedy.
Because we're not that sort of person in real life.
So it's lovely to see each other.
But it was actually,
it was that thing of loving Theo a bit
and going, oh, I've had a really nice time.
Oh, no, it's going, oh, I see.
Yeah, yeah.
A comedy about a couple that really rip each other apart.
The one time I, in Les Miserables,
and I was Madame Tenardier
and I had to hit this little girl.
Oh, and I couldn't do it.
And she said, I'm padded.
Look, and she kept hitting herself with this thing.
Go on, hit me.
I don't want to.
I can't hit you.
I can't hit her.
And you walloped her.
Then it was quite fun.
Once I realised it wasn't hurting her at all.
Oh, well, talking of hurting,
I mean, you,
this is a peach of a woman in every respect.
She also bruises very easily.
And so the epinephrine that I use
when she has an allergic reaction,
I have to have pads,
I have to stunt team in.
I was like, I was so terrified of hurting her.
I've got a little bruise here
and I don't know how I feel.
It's awful.
I was like,
so in the end I was kind of going,
uh, you know,
sort of pathetic all of a sudden.
You actually have to.
You need to go for it.
You're a bottomless pit of need.
You're just making me madder.
One thing about the Roses is,
they love the booze.
They love to get on it.
If we were to go on a night out,
what would it look like?
I mean, hopefully not as disastrous as the dinner party.
I think the early doors,
a lot of fun.
A lot of fun.
I don't like Negronis in real life.
No, but that's fine.
We can drink some else.
And karaoke.
That would feature some dancing.
Oh, karaoke.
Yeah, good food.
Do you love a gin and tonic?
And nice wine.
It would move quite quickly, I feel.
Yeah, yeah.
It could get loose fast,
because they're a very impulsive couple.
Yeah.
Olivia, you'd have the night of your life.
You would.
I can't wait for it.
It's happening.
Before I go,
I've got to end on a Crabs joke.
Where do crabs love to hide?
I don't know.
Where do crabs love to hide?
Oh, I don't know.
Bushes.
And on that note,
I'm off.
You, of all people,
don't get that.
Bushes.
Oh!
I knew you'd get that.
Let's play that one to Olivia Colman.
That's the best.
You like that joke.
