Mr. Belvedere, designed by Linework Architecture in Seattle, Washington, is a renovation and expansion of a 1940s ranch home that reimagines the property as a flexible, multi-structure family compound. Built on the existing foundation, the 1,600-square-foot main house is complemented by a detached accessory dwelling unit that frames a central garden courtyard, creating a spatial relationship between indoor and outdoor living. Influenced in part by Japanese architectural principles, the design emphasizes circulation through landscape, visual connectivity, and shared open space. Fully electrified and supported by a 15-kilowatt solar array, heat-pump systems, and high-performance materials, the project integrates long-term energy efficiency with a compact urban footprint, demonstrating how thoughtful renovation can adapt a modest home to contemporary living while maintaining neighborhood scale.
