Welcome to booze on the rocks.
My name is David Edwards, and it's great to have you here today.
We're going to make a golden Cadillac.
Now this cocktail has been around for a while.
It was created in 1952 at poor red in Eldorado, California.
Now the bartender at the time was asked by a couple who came in
to make them something different.
So I kind of whipped these ingredients together and he came up with the name
by looking out at the door and saw their shiny new golden Cadillac.
And that's how this cocktail gets its name.
Now the cocktail did kind of come into its heyday really in the 1970s, sort
of around the same time that a lot of cream cocktails did, but it's still
popular today and it is still served at poor reds today.
Now it's three ingredients and starts with a little bit of heavy cream.
Now I'm using some lactancia today.
This is 35% heavy cream or whipping cream.
Now, if you're calorie conscious, you could go down to say a half and half,
which is mixing that with some milk and 50 50, and you'll get that consistency.
Your next ingredient is a creme de cacao or a specifically a white creme de
cacao, so you don't get the Brown color that changes the tint, but if
you don't have it, use what you got.
The next ingredient that you needed is the galliano.
I can't get that, but the closest analog I can come to is liquor 43.
Now this is 31% ABV.
This is a bit more vanilla forward.
However, if you don't have any of this, you can use a little bit of Strega.
Now Strega is a bit more herbal, gives you the same sweetness.
And if you don't have that, and maybe you're lucky, you've got some
yellow chartreuse floating around.
You can do that too, or you can go with the galliano vanilla, which I'm
surprised that it's not considered the number one replacement for the other.
Now, the galliano Losantico is a bit more anise forward.
So that's something to consider when you're choosing
whatever you're going to use.
So grab yourself, you're shaking glass, and we're going to start
with your white creme de cacao.
Now this is a one-to-one-to-one ratio, meaning all the measurements are
exactly the same, and we're going to start with one ounce or 30 mils.
Your second ingredient, of course, is your liquor 43 or galliano.
Leave a comment down below what you can actually get and what you would use to
get the flavor profile that you want.
So you're going to use the same amount of one ounce or 30 mils.
And of course your third ingredient now is your heavy cream.
And of course we'll use the same amount of one ounce or 30 mils.
So your next step is to shake this with ice.
So what we're going to do is fill this about three quarters of the way.
First, you got to get the ice actually into the glass and I might as well just
use the entire glass because I've touched it and because this is for me, it's okay.
What you're going to do is you're going to shake this hard
for a good 10 to 12 seconds.
All right.
You're going to pop that off with the strength of six tons of chocolate, and
you're going to put this off to the side.
I'll just let that drain a little bit more and you're going
to grab your favorite glass.
Now I'm going to use a coop and we are going to find strain this.
Look at this absolutely gorgeous in color.
Now we are going to garnish this with a little bit of chocolate
over top, just kind of like, so you don't need a lot.
You're just sort of setting off the flavors and here you have a golden Cadillac.
It's a very light, pale yellow, and it's offset beautifully with
the garnish of chocolate on top.
I'd say eight out of 10.
That is good.
Banana milkshake with lots of vanilla.
Um, this is really good.
This is a nine out of 10.
Uh, oh yeah.
Um, anyways, drink this.
If you like dessert style cocktails and, uh, yeah, I'll put a
link after, uh, the video card.
