Cozumel is an island located in the Caribbean Sea along the eastern side of the Yucatan Peninsula about 51 miles south of Cancún and 12 miles from the mainland. Cozumel is home to the western hemisphere's largest reef system. Stretching for approximately 30 miles along the western coast of Cozumel, the reef system is part of the second-largest barrier reef in the world, second only to the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.
