Welcome to booze on the rocks.
My name is David Edwards, and it's great to have you here today.
We're going to make a naughty dog.
Now this cocktail was originally created by Eric Castro.
Who's best known for his work at plate provisions in San Diego.
Now, this is his variation of a Colorado bulldog, which is of course
made with a cola and vodka and tastes slightly different.
Now this variation is considered to be a root beer float for adults.
So I have high hopes for it.
Now this has four ingredients.
And the first and main difference on this versus any of the other
cocktail versions is you need an aged rum.
Now I'm using a little bit of Angostura seven.
This is a 40% ABV.
Now he is a little Appleton this date, but I don't have quite enough for the cocktail.
Uh, having said that your next ingredient is a coffee liqueur.
Now this is a little bit of clue at 16% ABV.
Um, tell me down below what rum, what coffee look here you would make, because
this is going to be a sweet cocktail.
Now I'm using a little bit of mug root beer, and this is caffeine free,
which is unfortunate because I should be wired after drinking stuff like this.
However, apparently it's going to be a nice sedate night.
Now you also need a little bit of heavy cream.
Now I'm using a little bit of lactancia.
This is 35% heavy cream, AKA whipping cream.
And you're going to use that for the float.
But if you want a slightly less calorically dense option, you would
use something like a half and half.
Now you're going to build this directly into the glass and I'm
going to do it completely wrong.
Uh, I'm going to start by adding some ice to my glass and you just want to fill
the glass up and you're probably going to have to add maybe a little bit of ice
later, but we're going to start with got it, our age drum, and for this, you
need an ounce and a half or 45 mils.
Your second ingredient is your coffee liqueur.
Now the coffee will cure and the root beer will add a lot of sweetness to this
cocktail, but you're only going to use one ounce or 30 milliliters.
Your third ingredient now is your root beer.
Now I'm using, as I said, a little bit of mug root beer.
And for this, you're going to add in two and a half ounces,
which works out to 75 mils.
So after you've done that, and you are going to use about two and a half
ounces, you're going to top this with your heavy cream.
I'm just going to give this a little bit of a quick shake just to expand
it a bit, and you're going to add about an ounce or so, which is 30 mils.
So what you're going to do next is you're just going to garnish this
with a little, a little bit of a nutmeg, not a lot, just a little bit.
And what we are going to do now is grab a straw.
I'll use one that's bent, give this a little bit of a stir.
So it looks fantastic.
I should've told you how it looks first.
Look at that fantastic radiation.
You get your nice layered, look darker at the bottom, nice and light at the top.
Uh, they're yeah, nine out of 10, uh, flavor-wise root beer and rum really go
together well in the coffee, just offsets it beautifully and the cream.
Oh, just sets it aside.
This is good.
This is a nine out of 10.
Uh, if you like cocktails like this, take a look after the
recipe card right over here.
