A day in my life as a bookshop owner morning routine bookshelving and recommending books

Slow day at the bookshop. I'm saying that but I don't really know if it's gonna be slow or not. But I really want to take you with me on a very cozy day so you can just watch this video and relax on your couch or whatever wherever you're watching the vlog. For those who don't know me, I'm Emilie. I'm a bookshop owner in France, in the middle of France, in Clermont-Ferrand. And I usually talk about books but most of my videos are about my daily life as a bookshop owner. And yeah, January, February are usually not very very busy months. So yeah, I just thought that I can show you what it is to be a bookseller when it's quiet. But it might change, we don't know. Well, enjoy. So I just arrived. I take care of cleaning the floor. I should do that in the evening but I'm usually too tired by the end of the day to do anything. The bookshop is gonna be open in five minutes and I just have the time to like start the computer and the bookshop software. Mostly this morning it's gonna be admin and replying to emails, stuff like that. Not very fun or entertaining but it's an important part of the job. And I'm just gonna see... There was a few orders online over the weekend so I'm gonna take care of that as well. But first I'm gonna open the bookshop, make myself a cup of tea with my favorite tea. I just realized that Yorkshire tea exists, like decaf Yorkshire tea exists. And I think that my main goal for the next weeks is to find a way to bring decaf Yorkshire tea in France. Because I'd like to drink tea in the evening but I'd like to sleep as well so I need this tea. Okay so I remember what it is. I received packages and I'm like I don't remember. So it's German books for children that a library ordered. I don't know in other countries but in France libraries have to order books from booksellers directly and not from the publisher or any other retailer. They have to order from bookshops which is like a very important rule for booksellers and especially independent booksellers because it's a way to have more money. So this one it's a library that is not near my bookshop so I'm gonna ship them the books and they order a lot of books for like teenagers and children in German. They gave me like a magazine of oh my god of what they're gonna publish in I think herbs means spring but that was from last year but it's still useful because sometimes I don't have more I mean I don't have any idea of what I'm gonna order because I need to when I'm ordering books I need to look everywhere for information about new books like website newspaper so this kind of thing is really really helpful and I really love what I'm seeing in the in this in this catalog. Okay they gave me other which is gonna be super helpful Lots of children books There's so many It happens all the time is that the moment that I put my food in the micro microwave you can be sure that there's a customer coming in like I can spend like two hours alone well maybe not two one hour the moment that I put my food in the microwave someone is coming anyway so um I had a customer this morning and it's the kind of customer that is a bit difficult she was nice but her request is a bit difficult because she wanted a book about relationship that is not feel good but not too difficult to read in English and so that's that's but she wanted like the books to be maximum 250 pages long and she wanted the front to be not too small and in the small paperback of English books sometimes the front is too small for people who have um eyesight issue so we spent some time looking for books that were not too big not to feel good not too difficult in English the front has to be um big enough uh but she found three um she bought let me check she bought the rest of what she bought the rest of our lives by ben markovits and I think it was long listed or short it was long listed for the booker prize she also bought three days in june by ayne taylor and no more people um I just thought that, I was like, I thought you were talking about passing by, but then I realised.
