Japan To Deploy Missiles Near Taiwan
A further escalation in the months-long feud between China and Japan over Taiwan is unfolding.
Japan is set to deploy missiles near Taiwan in the coming years. On Tuesday, Japanese officials said the missiles will be stationed on Yonaguni Island, Japan’s westernmost island, located about 70 miles from Taiwan. On a clear day, Taiwan’s coastline is visible from Yonaguni.
The deployment will be completed by 2031, marking the first time Japan has announced a specific timeline for positioning missiles on the island.
