A stunning, fine and impressive, rare antique Victorian 1.60 carat sapphire, 1.05 carat diamond, 0.04 carat ruby and 15 carat yellow gold, silver set bug brooch; part of our sapphire jewellery collections.

This fine and impressive antique Victorian brooch has been crafted in 15ct yellow gold with silver settings.

This sapphire brooch has been modelled in the form of a flying insect.

The pierced decorated wings are each embellished with fifteen pavé set Dutch cut diamonds, graduating in size.

The thorax of the insect is ornamented with a yellow gold collet set pear cut Basaltic blue sapphire.

The elongated abdomen is embellished with five cushion cut Basaltic sapphires, encompassed with nineteen Dutch cut diamonds.

The insect's legs, antennae and head are crafted in 15ct yellow gold, set with two collet set cabochon cut rubies representing the eyes.

The antique insect brooch secures to the reverse with a yellow gold hinged pin and safety clasp.

This antique Victorian bug brooch has been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as 15 carat gold and silver.

The brooch is supplied with an IDGL diamond grading report card, in addition to a sapphire report card and certificate supplied by the Gemmological Certification Services, London*.
