Hi friends! It's me, Silly Miss Lily.
I'm Paisley.
And today we're over at the Science and Discovery Center of Northwest Florida.
Let's go learn and explore together. Come on!
Wow! Look at this fun sensory area. Look at all the beautiful colors.
There's a purple pool noodle, a yellow and blue one. Those look like they match me.
Yellow and blue, orange, green, purple, red. Wow, there's so many colors. Let's explore.
Oh, so many. So many. And look at this fun area.
We've got an abacus with blue, red, white, green beans.
Letter B for B-B-B-Bell. B-B-Baba.
A. B. A. A. What's A for here?
Awesome. Apples. Awesome ants on apples. Different ropes, different textures. Soft.
Whoa, and look over here. There's so many colors. There's red. What about this color?
Yeah, it's blue. A blue triangle. A triangle has three sides. One, two, three.
And look at this. Two triangles make a square.
And these triangles match me. We've got yellow like my overalls and blue like my shirt.
Blue and yellow. Let's see if we can build a house. Let's see. I've got a blue square.
What'd you got? Oh, a yellow triangle. Let's build it together. Ready? How about this bridge
for an opening? Yeah. I like that. How about another green square up top? Let's add your
nice yellow triangle. Oh, that looks like a lovely castle. Should we add more to it? Yes. Okay. I
know. Tell me, tell me. What's next? This one. Oh, that's going to be a great one. We've got a red
square. Let's see. Where should the yellow rectangle go? Here. Yeah. Oh, how about this
little triangle? Where can I go? What about? That looks lovely. Oh, this is a great castle.
Hello. I'm the queen of the castle of shapes and colors. Welcome to the castle.
I love that. What about this one? How about this?
What? So then. Nice. Oh, good balance.
Let's try it. Let's try it. Let's try it.
We did it. Look how tall that is. Let's scratch on three. One, two, three.
Yay. Now let's put them all back. We'll go explore some more. All right.
I see some construction behind me. Come on. Here we have a little excavator, right? So we have the
arm and at the end is a bucket and we can play and gather these balls and put them in different
areas. Let's do it together. But first, safety's first. Let's put on our vest and our hard hat.
Here we go. We've got a vest, an orange vest and a hard hat. We're ready to build. Come on.
Let's go. Pick it up.
And look over there. I see a crane. Come on. The long arm and a hook at the end
where we can pick up some blocks and put them on a conveyor belt, sending them down.
Let's do it together. All right. Come here, cuteness. How about this?
We'll wear these bright colors. Make sure everybody can see we're doing some nice important work.
Lower it. Lower it. You got this. Ready and lower it. You got this. It's so much fun building.
Let's put our things back. We put our things away. We put our things away.
We want to keep things nice and clean. We put our things away. Is that a Lego ball?
We got to check that out. Come on. What a great Lego wall. Has different colors. Blue, green,
blue, green. It's a pattern. Blue, green, blue. Hey, what if we try to spell my name together?
Let's see. First, it's the letter L. Then letter I. Then we'll need another L.
And then a letter Y. L-I-L-Y. Lily. Silly Miss Lily. Wow. Let's see if we can build a little
car to race it. Come on. Let's build a car together. I've got one two wheels on. Let's
put two more wheels. One and two. Let's see if we can race it. Ready? Let's set it on.
One, two, three. Let's race it again. One, two, three. Go.
Oh, look. There's a boat, some fish. I think we can go fishing. Let's climb on the boat.
Mom, you want to go fishing with me? Oh, I'd love to. First, let me put on my life vest because I
want to make sure I'm being nice and safe. You want to throw one on as well? Ready? I'm going
to put your one arm through. Other arm through. All right. I see some fish in the water.
I think I caught something. Oh, it's a big one. Let's reel it in. Whoa. I caught a fish.
Are you trying to get that goldfish? Fish are fast. Fish are so fast. Fishing is
patient work. You got it. Reel it in. You did it. Put it over in the bow area. That's the front
of the boat. Here, fishy, fishy, fishy, fishy. Here, fishy. Whoa. We each got a fish. Catching
a fish can be hard, but you can do hard things. Bring it in. You caught a shark. You got a
hammerhead shark. I'm ready to build. Hammer, hammer, hammer, hammer. See how many fish we've
got so far. We've got two sharks, one, two, and some fish, three, four, five. We've got six fish
so far. Let's see if we can catch another one. I think you've got it. Reel it in. We got another
fish. Thank you for catching me. Swim, swim, swim. Oh, I see some reptiles. Let's take a look
together. He's getting some food. You see this animal right here? This is a Chinese water dragon.
Hello, water dragon. Do you want to have your food? Would you like your food? I wonder if they're
great swimmers. Oh, I see some more animals. Come on. Let's see some more reptiles. He's just eating.
Look, he's eating. Hey, reptiles. Now, are reptiles warm-blooded or cold-blooded? Cold-blooded.
What does that mean? They have to find heat. That's right. They love staying warm and their
bodies can't change their temperature and adapt to it like humans can. If they're in a cold setting,
they'll become cold. That's why they like being in the warm because the sun will heat up their
temperature. They can't control their temperature like our bodies can. Hello. So, this says it's a
painted agama. Looks like a bearded dragon. But isn't the bearded dragon a lot bigger? Wow, I
believe so. Look at those spikes on the end. They protect from getting eaten. It looks like here
they have their heat lamp so they can stay nice and warm. And when reptiles, if they are in a cold
setting, their body temperature will become cold and they'll start to slow down. And they might
even take a really long nap because their temperature gets so cold, their body gets cold,
and they take a little cold nap, like a little hibernation. But for reptiles, and they can extend
their energy for a long time, that's why they like staying up in the warm to keep their body warm.
That's a clownfish. Why are they called clownfish? Great question. I wonder if they like to do a lot
of jokes. Yeah, maybe they're doing like a little fish joke show. Hi, fish. I see one blue fish,
one blue fish with a yellow tail, and two little orange fish. Hi, fish. Let's swim around and
explore some more. Come on. Swim, swim, swim. Oh, look. I see an animal clinic. Let's go play
vets together. Come on. Oh, look. I see some animals in here. Let's say hi to our little pets.
Let's open this door. Bark, bark, bark, bark, bark. Here comes a big dog. Let's pet the dog.
Hi, dog. Do you know how we pet our pets? Yeah, we pet them so gently. We're gentle with our pets.
We're gentle with our pets. We pet and pet them oh so gently. We're gentle with our pets.
Yay. Look at this cute dog. He's got a nose, ears, and cute little paws. Hey, puppy. Would you like
to do a little vet checkup? Bark, bark, bark. All right. Come on. I found a little vet's coat,
so let's put it on. Come on, puppy. You ready? Bark, bark, bark. I'm ready for my checkup.
Bark, bark. You can sit on the counter. Good job. Let's lay down. We'll do a little checkup.
Oh, look. We have a little x-ray machine that shows the bones. Now, does this look like a dog?
No, that's a cat. A cat. Let's find one that's an x-ray of a dog.
Does this look like a dog? No, that's a rabbit. A little bunny goes hop, hop, hop. Let's try.
Let's see. How about this? Is this a dog? Yeah, this is an x-ray of our dog. See all the bones?
Perfect. Let's give our dog a little checkup. First, let's listen to the heartbeat
with a stethoscope. I'll put these in my ears. Let's listen. Okay, little puppy. Go ahead. Breathe
in and out. Breathe in and out. Wow. Your heartbeat sounds so good. Bark, bark, bark.
I'm going to take a look in the puppy's ears. Look, look. Oh, you look great, puppy. Are you
ready for your grooming? Bark, bark, bark. All right, let's do it. Now, let's give our puppy
a bath. Let's give our puppy a bath. Let's go in. In, little puppy. Wash, wash, wash our dog.
Wash, wash, wash our really cute dog. Wash the paws. Wash, wash, wash. Now, you are all clean.
Yay. Time to dry. Come on, little puppy. Let's turn on the dryer. It's going to be a loud,
loud dryer. Wow. Great job, little puppy. You did such a good job. Can I give you a hug? Bark,
hug the dog. Aw, so sweet. Thank you for helping me, this puppy. Thank you. I'm so clean.
Hello. Welcome to the vet's office. We have a few different animals.
Come in here, I believe we have. Let's see who it is.
And then, is your rabbit here for a checkup? We do need to do a checkup for a rabbit. Hello,
are you the vet? Yes. Would you like a little vet's coat? Here you go, little vet. Go ahead
and put this on. And let me see. Looks like we're going to need some x-rays of a bunny.
X-rays. This is a cat. Bird. A bird. A dog. A dog. Let's see. We're going to need to find
a rabbit. A rabbit. Oh, here we go. So now we've got a skeletal system of a rabbit. Does your
bunny have ears? Yes, but they're a bit floppy down. They're just too long, I guess. I think
I got a stethoscope right here. All right, let's give a listen. Let's see how that heartbeat is
doing. Rabbit, I might have to flip you. Hop, hop, okay. This way I can check your heart.
It's going to feel a little cold, okay? All right.
That sounds pretty good. Okay, wonderful. Sounds like a rabbit.
Okay, bunny, now we got to check your ears. They're so important, especially with bunnies,
right? Those ears are so long. Let's see. I think this is the ear checker. Let's give that a nice
check. Do you want me to lift the ear for you? I lift it down. Let's see. How's the tail?
Everything looks just like it is in that picture. It only looks more outside of a bunny. Okay,
perfect. Does this cat have a little problem, or is it just a little checkup? This cat is here for
a checkup, so we need to check the ears, the paws, the tail waggle, and the heartbeat, please.
Okay. Here we go. We've got a little x-ray here up for the cat. This one's
on my schedule for the cat. Tell me. It says check up and groom, so. Okay.
Sounds like a cat. Oh, wow. Sounds like a cat heartbeat, so. Oh, perfect.
This ear looks great. This ear looks great. Now, let's see. I'll have to check your eyesight,
little one, so. Do you mind pretending my finger is a mouse? Yeah. Chase the mouse,
chase the mouse. Excuse me, vet? When you're doing nail clips, is it helpful when I move around,
That's a little, that's, then it will take a little longer, little cat. Okay,
so for nail clippings, I should stay still? Pretty much for dentists, doctors, vets,
staying still. Would you like a little grooming, though? Meow, meow, yes, please.
I got the longest thing for a, for a little bath. All right, I'm ready. Wash, wash, wash. Meow,
meow, meow. Okay, are you ready for drying? For a little scrub-a-dub-dub.
Want to feel it? Thank you. I'm ready to go back into my lovely crate.
Oh, look, here's a giant ball wall where we can roll a ball and watch it go. Here, I've got one
ball. Let's set it on. Go, ball, go. It's coming back.
Yay. Let's put the ball on. Can we pick you up there? Yeah. We're flying up. One, two, three.
Sorry. Go, ball, go. Oh, it's coming down. It's coming down.
You did that. That's momentum at work. This kind of shows the inside of a house. So here,
we have wood planks to help support it, like a really nice foundation. And here is a water pipe
that can run the water to our faucet where we can wash our hands. And those pipes go all
throughout our house in places like toilets, sinks, baths. There's the airflow within the walls
that help heat and cool the home. So the peanuts or these little pom-poms kind of represent the
airflow. Go ahead and turn it on. So the air kind of moves around, moves around, helping you heat
or cool our homes. And these are different types of insulation, kind of like a jacket for a house.
It's a way we keep warm inside our home. And this is the air flowing. Hey, do you want cold air or
warm air? And you want to see how the electricity works in a home? Check this out. So these wires
run inside of our walls. And you know how circuits work, right? Yeah. Yeah. So you need a full
connection and the wires connect to the lights. When you turn on the switch, it runs all the way
up. It turns on your light. Or if it's bedtime, it turns off your light. Hey, look. Do you see those
colorful lights behind me? And you know what? I'm noticing some letters. Letter S-I-L-L-Y.
That spells Silly. M-I-S-S is Miss. L-I-L-Y. Lily. Silly Miss Lily. Yay.
Oh, wow. This is a little flashlight that you can draw with.
So as we turn it on, we can see the color appearing. Hey, I know. I know. I love exploring.
Look, I had a square, two triangles. Two triangles, square. Now I'll put triangles this way.
And we got a tree. Let's see what else we can put together. Got a tree, a little house,
sunshine. Looks like a little rocket now. What a beautiful design.
Look at this wonderful garage. Looks like we're at the mechanics. Let's take a look at the engine
and see if we can fix it up. Oh, we've got the oil that helps things run really smoothly.
We've got a battery here that helps start the engine, like a battery in a toy or something.
Got an air filter. That's to make sure the air that goes into the engine is nice and clear so
the engine keeps running smoothly. Oh, you know what? It does look like I need to put a little
more oil in here. Put some oil in. I'll grab a wrench. Would you like this, pliers? I'll take
some pliers, oils, and a wrench. You've also got a drill. I'll do these and maybe a little oil too.
Okay. I also have a screwdriver. I didn't know that was yours. Would you like to open and explore?
Yeah. This is a little tool chest. The drawers help you keep things organized.
It's like, hey, do you need tools? Yeah, here they are. I'll take an adjustable wrench too.
Oh, this is great. This kind of shows all the different signs that can light up in your car
so you know what the problem is. Like this one that says, check engine. Do you know what this
sign is for? What? That's when you need to check your engine. Like, hey, there's a problem in there.
Let's check it. And a little checklist to make sure everything in your car is working correctly.
Let me check on the outside. I'll wait for you. Oh, I don't want to sit on tools. Thank you so
much. This is a lovely mechanics. It's great. Good to hear. I'll hold this screw in place.
Here we go. I think we've got a nice running engine.
Nice. Perfect. We'll be able to see if we have to drive at nighttime, right?
Ooh, that sounds good. Here we can watch a ball float. So let's see. I'll put this ball on. You
press the button. Whoa. We've got air pressure coming in to lift it. Kind of like maybe you've
seen a hair dryer at home that pushes air out. Hey, I know. Yeah. Should we want to lock it?
I think we should. Let's see. Here it says how to build a rocket so we can build our own
and then launch it. You want to try it? Sure. All right. Let's see. So first. A little tape.
A little tape. Top nose cone. So it'll be this way. Then I think we'll need to tape it. So let's
grab a piece of paper. We'll wrap it around this. All right. You want to secure it on here?
Like that. That looks nice. That looks like good work. Create nose cones. So I'm going to give it
a little whoop. And I'm sure we'll need some tape. Yep. Most likely. Here's a little nose
cone for our rocket. Here we need to fold and cut some paper to add little fins. Let's see.
We'll fold our square. We'll probably need a few pieces of tape for this. You know how that tape
girl. It's the tape on the wing. One's for taping on the wing. One's for taping the wing together.
Okay. Okay. And how many wings will you be putting on your rocket today? I believe two wings. We
love that. We love that for you. Will you be needing more tape then? We would. We'll come
back to tape store any time. Are you designing your own rocket today? Yes. That sounds pretty
special. I'm doing it at a science discovery center. Are you really? Yeah. Is it your first
time here? Yes. Wow. What do you think so far? Pretty fun. Whoa. Okay. What do you think? It's
ready for blast off? I think so. How would you blast it? Test your rocket on the launcher to
the right. Whoa. Let's bring it over. Okay. Can I help you carry it? Yeah. Mission control. We
have a new rocket coming in. I'm going to place it onto your launch station.
When you're ready, I'll give you the countdown. Five, four, three, two, one. Blast off. Whoa.
You really went into space. Can you believe that? You did that girl. Should we try another rocket?
Yeah. Would you like to? Oh, come on. Let me tell the tape store. We will be making another rocket.
I cannot believe that. I'm so happy to hear that. It's just too fun. It's just too fun. I now need
one piece of tape from you. Here we go. Here's this for you to hold. I'm going to wrap this
really nice piece of paper around for you to secure. Can I help you make the tip nose? Yeah.
You build a lot of stuff? Yeah. I have a whole trash garage at home.
You're like a little scientist then. Yeah. What are some of your favorite things to build?
Cool stuff. Oh, I love cool stuff. Yeah. I don't ever know what I'm building.
Well, that's how a lot of designs are born. You got to start and then just let your mind
come up with ideas and then your fingers do the work. Before a car was made, somebody had to come
up with that idea and then try it and try it and try it again. Same with an airplane. Same with a
rocket. Same with a washing machine or a vacuum. They got to come up with the idea and think,
huh, what if there was a machine that would suck up dirt on the floor? And they said, okay, well,
what do we need? Maybe a brush, maybe a tube. How would we start it? Oh, let's see if we can
plug it in. And then they try a few different designs. And then very, very, very often first
time doesn't even work. They're like, okay, so what didn't work? Oh, we need a longer cord.
Let's make a next one with a longer cord. And then they try it. We're making a lot of wings.
That's going to be nice. You think it'll fly? I think so. All right. You think it's ready to
give it a try? I think there's another wing and another cord at the top. Yeah. Let's do six wings.
We just need one more wing. That looks nice on top there. We need one more wing. Yeah. That's all we
need. They're going to fly, huh? I would say two more wings. Sure. Guys, why don't you have 1,000
wings? Why not? And how do you feel about the amount of wings now? How's your quantity?
I would say enough. Okay. Are we ready to test it? Yeah. Here comes the rocket. I'll bring it
to your station. You want to bring it? Yeah. You got this. Okay. Can I give you the countdown again?
Yeah. Five, four, three, two, one, blast off.
You want to have a rocket race? Sure. All right. You put yours on. I'm going to put this one on
that we tried previously so we can compare the two designs. Okay? All right. We'll both go on
four buttons. Let's get ready to blast. Five, four, three, two, one, blast off.
Had to surprise it. Was that so fun? I think I stole my doctor's coat.
Now the question is, is this a scientist coat, a vet's coat, a doctor's coat?
Look, I see an ambulance. Ambulance is one of our emergency vehicles that can help someone
get to the hospital real fast. Let's go in and see if we can help. Okay, doctor,
do you need your doctor's coat? Here you go. Looks like we've got a patient in here. All right.
And then what's that sign on the horses? Please do not lay on gurney. This is a gurney,
like a little comfy bed to help transport someone. Like, hey, let me lift you up. Make
sure you get somewhere safely. Let me check her pulse. How's that leg? Oh, okay. Doing like a
little kick. Okay. Excuse me, ma'am. Can you clap your hands? Clap, clap. That seems to work. Good
reflexes. Okay. Can you lift one leg? Can you lift another leg? Maybe it's a leg thing. I'm
guessing so. Okay, doctor, go ahead and take a look, okay? Okay. Let's see. I might need a
different tool. Okay, what are you thinking? All right, looks like you got one bone out.
Let's see if we can get the rest. But is this like a little practice for doctors?
Yeah, I think so. It's a great way to practice for doctors. Yeah, it's like, hey,
how steady is your hand? Can you get the bones out very carefully and gently? I'll check his
heart rate to make sure he's doing all right. Breathe in, breathe out. We're going to practice
some deep breaths. Ready? Go ahead, take a deep breath in and a deep breath out.
And another deep breath in and another deep breath out.
Great deep breaths. I think your patient's going to be just fine. This should be good.
In the front of the ambulance, the word ambulance is written backwards. That way,
the cars in the front, when seeing it through their mirror, can read ambulance correctly.
So they can know, whoa, ambulance, here comes an emergency vehicle. Let me scoot over so they can
pass and get to the hospital really quickly. So this is our skeletal system, kind of like the
foundation for our bodies. These are the bones that are inside our bodies. So you see these ones
that look like our hands, our hand bones, phalanges, our finger bones. We've got a rib cage to support
all of our organs inside so we can breathe and run and have fun. We have leg bones.
Everything's bone in us. That's right. And here's a little market where we can go shopping,
get some fruits and vegetables. We have peppers, carrots, lemons, and apples,
and so many more fruits and vegetables. Thank you. I'll need one of those. I need one corn,
please. Yes. And now do you have any carrots?
My grandma's calling me. Yes, grandma. You need some oranges. You know, we are in Florida. They
have best oranges. You want me to ask? Okay, let me, I'm actually at the grocery store. Uh-huh.
Yeah, really cute store. Uh-huh. Let me ask. See, my grandma wants to know if you have oranges.
Yeah, please. They're only the best. Oh, okay. So they do have best oranges. How many would
you like, grandma? Three. Do you have three oranges? We have four. Oh, so they have four,
grandma. Okay, my grandma says she'll take all four oranges, please. Okay, grandma, I'll see
you soon. Okay, bye-bye. So here are four. You had one, and that means you need three more.
Oh, I'm so glad you're good in math. One, two, three, four. You're right about that. Okay,
I think I'm ready to check out. So how much is for all of this, including milk, mustard,
laundry detergent? Um, they're one dollar each. Oh, this is a lovely market. So we have one,
two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen,
sixteen. So sixteen items, a dollar each. One dollar each. One dollar each, so sixteen dollars.
Here you go. Okay, I'll put them in my bag. Can I go through the textures? Yeah, yeah.
I'll put these back. More textures. That's all I want. Where are you? Hello? Come in, come in.
What color are you on? Are you my purple or yellow? Oh, hello. Which way did you go? Hey.
Where are you? I'm behind you. This. Oh, wow. Look at those. And then if you run this way.
Where'd you go again? Did you find more textures? Yeah. No way. Show me. I love textures.
Oh. And then if you run this way, you found this. Smooth. Very smooth. This one's kind of rough.
Smooth. This one's more rough. This one's really soft. Very fuzzy. Soft.
This one's rough and kind of prickly. There's even this outside area, like this really big
red pirate ship. Come on, I see a slide. Come on. Up, up, up the stairs.
The steering wheel. Ahoy, mateys. A telescope. I see fun ahead. I see a slide. Let's slide down.
One, two, down. Wow, this was so much fun. Thank you so much for playing with us and learning with
us. I love spending time with you, and I'm really proud of you. Well, this is the end of this video,
but if you're looking for more of our videos, make sure to search for Paisley's Corner with
Silly Miss Lily. And Paisley. And we'll see you then. Bye-bye. Bye-bye.
