Hi, thrifting besties.
Welcome back to the channel.
Today, we are doing what I like to call
a slow treasure hunt.
We're not rushing.
There's no pressure to find the perfect thing.
We're not really thrifting for an aesthetic
because this thrift trip was during President's Day.
Everything at Goodwill was half off
and I don't normally come to the thrift store
when it's a half off day because it is so busy.
But I wanted to just go see what all the hype was about
and honestly, I have a beautiful haul.
Definitely stay tuned towards the end
so you all can see the clothes and items I picked up.
So if you're new here, I'm Haley,
your resident thrifting therapist.
I believe thrifting isn't just about saving money.
Well, yes, that is a total perk.
It's also about saving stories
and noticing what is inside of you.
So that's why I blend mental health
and I am a licensed therapist.
I've been a licensed therapist for the past six years
and a certified life coach for the past eight.
So I blend the two worlds.
So I just want you to grab your iced coffee,
settle in, no pressure,
and let's go see what's waiting for us today.
Now, all right, first impressions.
Let's take a deep breath and look through this area.
I was looking for the texture and the colors
that really stood out to me that fit cottagecore.
If you're new to my channel, that's usually what I thrift,
whether it's for gifts for people or even myself.
I'm looking for gold trim, floral designs,
pictures that are more stoneware or old Americana.
While I like these pieces,
they weren't really sticking out for me.
Nothing is speaking to me here.
So let's pivot.
It's all good.
We are not forcing it today.
We are just flowing and enjoying the thrift store.
Let me know down below if you are a new thrifter
or if you've been thrifting for a long time.
I'd love to get any tips you have.
What sections do you like to thrift?
I personally love the section that we are in right now,
the glassware, the home decor,
the chonks you find for your kitchen.
I love that.
I found this vintage Pyrex and I, you know, let it go,
but it's all good.
And I saw some beautiful teacups here.
I love picking up teacups for my friend's daughters
as they grow their running little teacup sets.
Honestly, the thrift store is the way to go.
These blue plates were pretty,
but I left them behind because I wasn't in need.
Now these floral teacups, so darn cute.
And again, everything is half off today,
which blows me away.
When you find something that your heart just loves
and desires like this set of plates, it's half off.
It makes it easier to grab it for sure.
Well, I found this beautiful cup.
These have become more popular at markets
with all the manifestation and affirmations.
I thought that would make a good gift for someone,
but I did leave it behind.
Now, when I go to the thrift store,
I also look through their sheets for 100% cotton
or cotton blends for sewing.
I recently got into sewing.
I love making dresses and skirts.
And if you are a new sewist,
I encourage you to get your fabric from the thrift store
so you are not having a dang heart attack
when you got a seam rip.
Make a lot of mistakes.
I know I've made a lot of mistakes
and it makes me feel better getting thrift store sheets
than buying real fabric that is so expensive.
Ooh, wait a minute.
This one might be coming home with me.
100% cotton.
Yes, please.
So beautiful.
It's even better when you find a king size 100% cotton
because that's just a steal.
I did find this blue pillow bag.
I guess you'd call it like a marshmallow bag.
Very cute, but left it behind
because I don't necessarily need it.
And I love this purple purse.
I'm always looking for purses that I can take
when I go out with my friends on the weekends.
That's not a diaper bag because you know your girl
still needs to feel like herself every now and then.
Okay, so this skirt is giving me
cottage core main character at a farmer's market.
I could totally see myself wearing this
paired with some boots in the fall.
I'm not a fan of animal print,
but I wanted to show y'all that skirt
because I thought it was really interesting.
Now this skirt is sheen,
so it's going to be cheaper material, but only $3.99.
That's like $2 today.
And it is a vintage circle skirt.
So when you wear it, it's going to flow really pretty.
So we're definitely picking that one up.
The skirt section was popping.
And at first I thought this skirt was Zodiac signs,
but it's Harry Potter.
How cool is that?
I am a huge Harry Potter fan.
I am a Hufflepuff through and through.
She's cute.
She's my cute.
This is definitely coming home.
Let me know down below, comment right now,
what house you are in,
because I am a Hufflepuff through and through.
There was this beautiful skirt.
I'm not familiar with this brand.
It was a size large and there was a zipper.
When I see size large zipper skirts
that don't have any type of elastic,
I leave them behind because they rarely fit.
And that was so beautiful.
I want someone else to enjoy it.
You know, sometimes we go to the thrift store,
we find something that fits us.
Oftentimes we admire without acquiring.
Admire without acquire.
And finding beautiful items does not mean
that it has to be your beautiful item.
Leave it behind for someone
that you know is going to absolutely adore it.
Now I did like this shirt.
It was giving me like cottage at the sea vibes,
but I did leave it behind.
Moving right along to dresses,
I found this adorable polka dot dress from Target
for only $3.99 or $3.49.
That's just a steal.
So we're going to pick that one up.
I found this light purple dress from Esso brand or so.
And I really like the elastics.
It is a 2X, which normally would be too big,
but I was thinking about wearing it for like housekeeping.
That would be really pretty.
There were some beautiful cottage core floral dresses today.
The clothing was really popping, okay?
It was beautiful.
If I have to convince myself though on an outfit,
so like, let's say you pick up something and you're like,
do I have to convince myself?
It's a no.
You know, you pick something up.
Does it spark joy?
Does it fit?
Will you wear it?
Then yes, we'll pick it up.
This is my friend Amber.
She came about halfway through my thrifting spree
and we're looking at picnic baskets
and more home decor.
She found this really pretty sconce.
I think that's what it's called, like a gold sconce.
And she was telling me that I could always spray paint this.
This one was funny.
She told me she wanted to get that for her husband
that loves golf.
Cool golf.
Joe loves golf, but it's missing the little.
Yeah, it is a cute little art piece.
How much is it?
Does it say on the bottom?
9.99.
Oh.
Is that her guy?
No, but it's hockey.
I'm going to get it for her.
For her.
I'm feeling a little bit overwhelmed.
I'm feeling a bit of rack fatigue.
That's what I call it.
It's like going through the racks,
going through the shelves.
There were a lot of people at the store
and this is your reminder, y'all.
Sometimes we just don't need more.
We're just looking for magic and beauty.
So let's go home and unhaul all these fun items.
Good morning, friends, and happy Friday.
It has been five days since we went thrifting
and it has been a crazy show in my house.
My husband and I are renovating our floors
from carpet and tile to vinyl plank.
And if you hear some pitter patter,
there is my dog's feet on the floor.
You can see behind me the wood flooring.
I love it so much.
I think it is so beautiful.
Here comes Harvey.
Harvey, I can always tell where the dogs are
because of their pitter patter.
There he is.
I can tell the dogs have absolutely no idea
what to do with the flooring right now.
It's super slick underneath them and loud.
We're going to be adding some really nice area rugs
to kind of give this space division
because the whole house is just this beautiful dark vinyl.
I love it, but it's a little loud.
It's a little echoey.
In terms of a haul today,
first item I picked up are these beautiful set of plates.
There are six of them and they have a mark.
You know, I actually haven't even taken the plastic off
or cleaned these.
The tag was for $10 at Goodwill.
I picked them up half off, so $5.50.
I will take a Google Lens photo of these
and let you all know what they are,
but I just love how beautiful they are.
Look at the edges.
They have the gold trim and scalloped edges
with the cottage core scene.
These were such a good buy.
I picked up a lot of books for my kids,
but the one I really want to show you
is this Adventure Bible, the NIV.
Now, a couple of things I love about this Bible.
My church uses it, so that's fun.
So it'll stay consistent unless my church decides to change,
which could happen.
It was $2.29.
I believe this book is like $15.99 retail,
so I got it for a dollar, but look at this sticker.
This is usually a compass
and some child put a sticker on this
and I absolutely love that.
And then on the inside,
there's a beautiful prayer
to the original owner of this that says,
Daniel, always keep your life close
to the words of this Bible
and to God who inspired it and who loves you very much.
With much love and many prayers, Margaret.
August of 2009.
So I just think that is so beautiful.
You know, is this Bible super old?
No, but I love the little note and the sticker.
It's just those little things
that make Thrifted Finds so special.
Moving right along to clothing,
I was contemplating putting them on for you
and doing a show and styling,
but everything in our home
is either full of dust or packed up.
And so I'm just gonna show you the pieces
and we'll go from there.
I'm gonna stand up for this part
so you can see all the clothes in its glory.
So I got this Sheen 1XL gingham skirt.
Now the thing with Sheen is like, it is pretty cheap.
It's a polyester blend.
And when I go thrifting for clothing,
I kind of go back and forth.
I say, I'm only gonna find high value things.
And then I'm like, well,
but Sheen is trendy and Target has really nice stuff.
For me, I'm trying to strike a balance
instead of living in extremes.
Like I'm trying to strike a balance
that I'm giving these clothes a second life
versus them just going to a landfill.
And I love the elastic stitching is nice.
You know, the nice thing about me starting to sell
is that I can look at a garment and go,
okay, is this gonna hold up?
What kind of stitch is this?
I forgot to mention this skirt was $3.99.
So it came out to $2, which is a steal even for Sheen.
You know, their skirts can be six to $7.
So that's a steal.
This skirt was $3.99, another one from Sheen.
It's a vintage circle maroon skirt.
These are so fun to style for the fall.
I could totally make this work for the summer too.
But I just think this is such a beautiful skirt
for the fall season to pair with some boots
and a sweater.
Oh yeah, you'll be seeing this one in a video.
When I was looking through the skirts,
I saw this one and if it's Zodiac signs,
I won't get it cause I don't really adhere
to Zodiac signs as a Christian.
They don't really spark my interest on clothes either.
Apart from my religious beliefs,
I just don't like the way they look on clothes.
But this is a Harry Potter skirt with original tags.
I think that is so fun.
So these are the different houses and it's pleated.
So it's a navy blue pleated Harry Potter skirt.
It does look a bit big, but I can always sew it in
or give it a little bit of an alteration.
But how pretty is this?
I was thinking about wearing this during Halloween
and during the winter time, so cute.
Moving right along to dresses,
this is a Target brand polka dot dress for $3.49.
So I got this for about $2 as well.
How cute is this polka dot dress?
So adorable.
It's a mini with nice little elastic puffy sleeves.
It does have a zipper in the back, but I sized up.
It's an extra large.
So I do think it's gonna fit well.
It is a bit short, like putting this on,
if I bend over, it's gonna be a show.
So I'm gonna need to wear my black tights
that I have for a date night.
But how cute is this polka dot dress?
I also think polka dots are coming back in trend.
So you're gonna be seeing that more in 2026.
This next dress I'm super excited about.
It's from SO, Good For Life.
I think SO, is that Kohl's?
I'm not a hundred percent sure, but I think it is Kohl's.
And it's this Liliac Cottagecore dress.
It's got a lot of elastics and that's really nice.
So it will cinch me where I want to,
but this will be a dress I wear at home.
I just wanna feel nice.
I wanna feel put together,
but I don't wanna put in a ton of effort
and I don't want things to feel tight.
This is gonna be the dress.
I'll give you the total of what I spent
at the end of this video,
but there is something to go into thrift stores
on half off day.
Usually I don't do it cause I don't like the crowds.
They make me very anxious,
but the total that I got for all these items,
totally worth it.
So this dress is $449.
It is from Orvis and it is a beautiful blue linen dress.
So it's gonna be a little bit larger,
but I really like the shape of this.
I don't own a dress in this shape.
I know this is gonna sound bad,
but for my Harry Potter friends,
it reminds me of Dobby.
I'm gonna call it the Dobby dress.
Granted, it's a lot cuter than what he wore,
but it's just very basic.
There's no elastics, there's no ruffles.
I didn't find much in the top section,
but what I did find is super cute.
This is a Lauren Conrad extra large for $5.29.
So I got this for about $3 with tax.
Okay, let's see here.
There we go.
And it's this beautiful green ruffle cottage core tank top.
I love the lettuce sleeves
and the floral design is so pretty.
Picture this kind of cinched in with a high-waisted skirt
because that's usually how I wear these tops.
I just think it's so beautiful.
And the back is just like a cotton blend.
So it's nice and soft and stretching, airy.
And I just couldn't leave this one behind
because this color is one of my all-time favorite colors
for wardrobe.
It's just so flattering and feminine for the spring.
Okay, so this is gonna take a little bit of creativity
on your end and mine.
This shirt was $5.99 from the Disneyland Resort.
So it has the original tag from the Disneyland Resort.
So this shirt, probably if I had to guess,
this shirt was probably $35 to $42
in the store at Disneyland.
This top is on the larger side,
but I wanted to do in one of my upcoming videos,
a thrift flip and show you how I hem this shirt
because I think this would be super cute cropped.
I think it would be so fun for the summer
going to the pool with some high-waisted jeans.
I love the old like vintage Mickey Mouse
and I'm gonna take off, gosh, at least a foot off this end.
So that'll be a really fun thrift flip.
And it was $5.99.
So for $3 for a vintage Disney tee,
oh yeah, I'm definitely picking that one up.
The last two fabric pieces I picked up are for sewing.
I picked up this really pretty white
kind of plaid checkered pattern.
The next sheet I picked up is going to be the dress
for the mommy and me outfit.
I'm gonna be sewing for my daughter this Easter.
It's this beautiful blue and pink pattern.
I chose this sheet because it is 100% cotton.
I don't know if that's picking up.
It's king size, better home.
I don't know specifically the yardage of a king size sheet,
but this should be enough to make a dress
for my daughter and myself.
It is so beautiful and big.
So I still need to clean the sheets
and get them pre-shrunk and all that good stuff.
But then I'm gonna be working on that dress.
Before we move forward in today's haul,
I wanna take a moment to thank today's sponsor,
which I'm smiling so big, it hurts my cheeks.
I am sponsoring myself today.
When 2020 hit and everything shut down,
I did what a lot of people did and found a hobby,
something to pass the time
that brought me a lot of joy at home.
And what I started making were clay earrings.
I went to a market, I fell in love with clay earrings.
I came home and I told my husband,
I need all the clay earrings.
And he said, why don't you just make them?
Well, that just created a huge addiction
to polymer clay earrings.
I've been making polymer clay earrings
for over five years now.
I give them away as gifts and Christmas time.
I've been kind of known for my personal brand
of wearing these beautiful statement earrings.
And now I am finally selling them.
I created a business called Made by Mardell.
The vision behind the name of my business
is my grandmother's name was Mardell.
I was extremely close to her and she,
I feel like made me in a lot of ways.
She crafted my morals and my faith
and I am forever grateful for her.
My daughter's middle name is Harper Mardell.
And so when I was thinking about starting this business
and starting this venture and sharing these clay earrings,
what better name to use than the woman that made me?
I will link down below my Instagram,
which is where I'm selling my clay earrings right now.
This is called the Harper because I just had to,
you know, thrifting bestie has to be shown here.
It's something that I love to do.
I've been doing for so long out of love and a hobby.
So all the details of what is available
is down below through the link to go to my Instagram.
Okay, let's go back to the home.
I wanted to show you this purse I picked up.
It's just this beautiful pastel purple.
I don't really see a brand for this,
but a lot of different companies make this.
I'm sure it was 6.99, so about $7.
So I got it for 3.50.
I just noticed that there's a little E on here.
So someone had personalized it.
I don't have a lot of fancier or going out purses.
So I thought this would be so fun for the spring and summer.
It's in really good shape.
One thing I look for when I thrift bags
is the shape of the strap.
This is the first part of a bag that will get worn out
because it's going on and off your clothing.
So you want to look at the stitches.
You want to look at like,
will this actually be sustainable
and something I can wear for three, four, five seasons
for the spring and summer?
And this bag, I definitely can.
Next, I picked up an Easter basket for Harper.
It was 2.99.
Don't quote me on this,
but I believe this is Michael's brand, which is Ashland.
Very cute Easter bag for her.
And it was 2.99, so I got it for like $1.50.
So adorable.
The last item I picked up,
my friend Amber actually talked me into getting.
I'm not a huge fan of chalk,
but she said she has chalk pens,
so I need to grab those from her.
But I thought this calendar in our kitchen area
would be so cute.
It really fits our cottagecore theme.
It was 2.99, so it came out to $1.50.
But how cute is this?
Even getting some family photos
and just putting on the big thing.
Everything came out to $45, which is a total steal.
Considering that you can get one piece of clothing
at Target or Kohl's for $35, $40,
this was a complete steal.
And it makes me want to go to Goodwill more
on their half-off days.
